This is my favorite album of year. Knowing Emmylou and Lucinda are influences makes it even sweeter. I've been a huge fan of Lucinda Williams going back to her debut. It takes uncommon talent to make music that can touch what she was doing in the 90's and right here we have it. While I also really like Waxahatchee rocking out, this is just magic.
I cried hearing this song, thinking of how nothing in our world is as pure as the love in a young girls heart. Most men aren't ready for it at 19 years old. I wish I was, and regret my mistakes every day.
This song brought me to tears also, as a 60 year old man. It spoke directly to the center of my heart and soul, and brought to life exactly, the feelings for my beautiful wife of 35 years. I cried tears of joy. Can’t stop listening. -An Army Veteran ❤️🇺🇸
Saw them at Wolftrap in Vienna, VA w Sheryl Crow & Jason Isbell in June 2022. Of the 3 bands, this one rocked it. Fantastic show. Her songs are from the heart.

As for "Can't Do Much," it's got the feel of a summertime classic. Thanks for the music, Ms. Crutchfield. Artists like you are why I'll keep buying records 'til the day I die.

Superb track (and album). Drummer Nick Kinsey is the hero here - listen how he drags the beat just perfectly...shades of Levon Helm. Brilliant playing!
Spot on Steven. First thing that hit me about the song. Kinsey is so perfectly placed on the backend of the beat. As a drummer, it immediately grabbed me. I wish I could be so patient on my downbeats.

Just got into this album recently after hearing about Waxahatchee for several years now but never hearing any of Katie's music (I know, I know). To me it's as close to a perfect album as I've heard in years, with incredible songwriting throughout. Such a beacon of light in this awful, awful year.
Love this song and album! Can anyone tell what she sings in the line just BEFORE "nullify?" Lyrics in apps and on web say it's "sanity," but I hear no T sound. More like, "Sayin' I-eee" or "aye-ee." So maybe it's a sentence that spans both lines? "Sayin' I-eee nullify." Elsewhere she extends "I" to multiple syllables, fwiw.
OK, starting to get into Waxahatchee. I'm 63, takes me a while to get into something new. But I'm liking this.
