      Hey, Casey.
      Very late 2-year reply, but mine would be.
      Richard Petty.
      Reason. When we first moved to Sanford, N.C., back in 73, a garage was at the end of the road we lived on.
      My dad stopped by one day to ask the mechanic a question about his car or truck motor issue, and it just happened to be, it was none other than Richard Petty himself that owned the small one-car garage and who helped my dad that day.
      So, Petty became the whole family's favorite.
      Thanks for the question and sorry for the very late reply.
      Wayne

    GREAT VIDEO! I'm currently replacing my neighbors 97 taurus radiator, exactly same as yours. Last night daughter called from side of road with her car radiator leaking, Now I have two radiators to replace. I'm 68 and have to work in the dirt. Thinking about selling all my damn tools so I won't have to do this anymore.

    Block and radiator sealers might get you home but the leak needs to be fixed when back home and the radiator needs to be flushed out 6 ways from Sunday to avoid over heating the engine later.
    I had put put block sealer in my 2000 Ford Windstar because of a blown head gasket. And it worked great for a while but then one vacation in July 4. We had a trip from hell with over heating. In a 250 mile trip I stopped at least 7 times with half my coolant boiled out. Nothing to do but let it cool off and fill it back up with water and go again.
    Every time I passed a creek I filled up my jugs if they weren't filled already. There were 7 of us in the van with a luggage rack on top. So we definitely had a load
    The next to the last over heat was right down town Atlanta on I 75 on top of a bridge near Grady Memorial Hospital.
    It was 95 degrees and hot as hell.
    I got home and blasted that radiator from every direction with water and compressed air. Never had an issue with that again.
    I always watch those temps when climbing mountains though and will never forget the trip from hell.

    After starting about 10 videos (not worth finishing) luckily I found yours. I don't think I'll tackle this one but at least it gives me an estimate of how long a mechanic with all the proper tools will need to get the job done.

      Do you recommend replacing anything else while pulling the radiator out?

    • @WayneBarronsVlog
      @WayneBarronsVlog  7 лет назад +1

      Thermostat.
      Check all hoses, make sure they are good.
      Fill Tank cap, make sure it is still good. (Purchase through the Ford Dealership, NOWHERE ELSE)
      Heater Core, make sure it is still good. (This job is a PAIN IN THE A**)
      Get a jug of pure Anti-freeze (not 50/50), pour that into the new radiator, and then top it off with another jug of water, preferably store bought water.
      I replaced my Heater Hoses against the firewall as well.
      I have a video on how to take everything apart to get to that area, just did not do one on actually replacing the hoses.
      I will edit and upload the video soon, and post it here.

      To be perfectly honest with you Andy.
      I really am not sure.
      I mean, you can give it a shot.
      I know removing the radiator from my son's girlfriend's car, it was taken from the top.
      As there was a plate on the bottom where it set on, it is a 99 dodge intrepid.
      However, with the Ford Taurus, there is no plate on the bottom, everything just connects together.
      So, you can try to remove the top part and SEE if you can remove it.
      If you have the time and are not in a rush, then, heck. Give it a shot.

Getting them off was the hardest part of the job, didn't find out about the $10 tool until I'd spent 2 hours with a screwdriver trying to get at the nylon tab. Similar for sure. For the Windstar, I swear they built the car around the radiator! Also had to remove the battery tray/air intake for more access in our case. So insane! Were you able to slide the radiator electric fan and the radiator itself up and through by the oil dipstick, or did you also have to remove that bottom metal piece that holds the radiator, etc out? (We had to take ours out anyways to straighten it out from hitting a trailer tire that was in the road in the night. Bent that metal bar and old radiator up with it. The new one wouldn't have fit right.) Halfway done! Lol.

      Sorry for the late reply.
      It took about 3 hours by myself to do it.
      If I would have had someone with me, it would have been about a 1.5 to 2 hr job.

      @@christopherlitton696 Sorry for the 10-month-old late reply.
      DOHC = Dual Cam Shaft.
      SOHC = Single Cam Shaft
      Hope this helps.

    there is a tool for line removal.

    • @WayneBarronsVlog
      @WayneBarronsVlog  7 лет назад +1

      Yep, but it is cheaper to do it the way I do it.
      Now, if you are going to be removing a lot of radiators, then, by all means, go out and buy the tool.

    That is not how you take those clips out, they make a tool to separate it and not ruin the shit out of it

      The newer cars are worse.
      The other radiator I replaced in my son's X's car, was worse than this one
