I started TheSalonGuy brand after the passing of my Mother and discovering a role model of mine who has a few books on turning your passion into a business. I have spent the last 20+ years in the salon industry, tech and fashion. I left the industry at some point to become a Fireman and Aux. Police Officer. I did 6 years service and resigned shortly after 9/11.
I have a passion for helping people, educating and motivating. I work with major brands, local businesses and individuals looking to expand and grow.
My videos will be focused on celebrity hairstyles, athletes, models, actors, social media stars and event videos.
I think part of the problem is that its like a hidden timer starts once you sit in the chair and tell the barber what you want, and theres a certain pressure to hurry up and get the idea across that you have as a customer. Most barbers I've ever been to don't really want to hear all of the exact details and things you do and don't want in your haircut, they kind of just nod their head to what you say and end up messing you up
When they mess you up and don’t listen that’s when I write a review on Yelp and Facebook naming them specifically. I’ve found a lot of cutters in the chain stores give you the haircut they like or is easy NOT the one you showed them a picture of and described.
Thanks to you i have a year cutting my own hair, i spend like an hour and a half, but worth it.👌👍

I agree I'm getting ready to go back for another haircut last time when I was there I had a picture I want a blunt cut bob haircut short because again my first layer is past my ears super short and I'm trying to get my hair to grow out one length do away with my layers all together so instead of just constantly going back touching up my layers I'm just ready to take the whole length off and Stylist I recently went to says let's be realistic you need to be realistic you can't go that short and I'm thinking yes you can I see plenty of blunt haircut Bob's that are past the ear to the Jawbone✂✂✂ I see short Bob's all the time So basically I left with uneven parts and my hair looks butchered so I have to go back to somebody else✂✂🤔 great video and good haircut advice.

Be precise....do not use terms of length in inches.....big huge mistake!!! Actually take your hand and show how much you want taken off. Wet hair cut is taking off twice as much as dry hair cut. Very important. If tge barber or stylist acts "offended " that you are being specific and demanding in what you want done....get up out of the chair and walk out... fu*k them!!!!

I wouldn’t doubt that. Next time you go ask the cutter how many years of experience they have. Usually the manager has maybe 5 years experience but the rest of the cutters have 2 years or less. Great clips loves hiring people right out of school.

I live in a small town with great private salons for women but the men are limited to the chains like Sports Clips, Smart clips, Super Clips, Smart Style, etc. The barber shops are geared more to haircuts my father would have.
So I’ve learned. I always take a picture with me. I always ask if they have free consults. I always ask their years of experience. I always ask if they are trained as a cosmetician or barber or barber stylist. (You want a barber stylist) Then I ask if the hair style pictured would work with my hair type.
If after all that, I still get a bad haircut then I write a review on Yelp and Facebook, let my hair grow out again, then go hunting my my next cutter. I’ve been contacted by many cutters that either don’t think my review was fair or apologize and ask for a second chance. Sorry you stole my money once, but not twice.
I’ve been lucky lately. The cutter I currently have has twenty years experience with men’s hair. For the last 9 months I’ve gotten great hair cuts. And evil looks from other cutters in that store since I’ve reviewed them lol.
Ps. I love your sea salt spray, Tidal Wave. I have baby fine hair but it’s thick. With your product and the right cut I look like I have volume - this first time in my life.
