Thanks for making time during the races to make your videos and inspire people like me. I just finished my first ultra race at 55 years young. Thanks Joe!
Massive respect Joe - and Rufus - from one of the three old buggers (with support car) who hooned past while you were grinding up McKenzie Saddle on your way to winning the Sounds to Sounds last year.
What a sandbag guy! Haha referring to your comments about lacking footage to put a good race movie together. This really showed the adversity, beauty, and ruggedness of the race. You can be proud of your race win, but I think you can be proud of this video as well. Again congrats to you and Rufus for bossing such an incredible and epic race.
Absolutely fucking epic ride. Would be keen for a debrief video from you regarding how you managed the altitude, useful vs redundant stuff, managing saddle sores etc.. Anything to let us mortals also learn how to go fast and have a blast. Nice one for bringing some Kiwi friendliness to the locals; you are a class act.
Amazing to win, communicate and video. Sir Ed would be proud ❤ You made me eat some ice cream 🍨 and go for a ride 😂 Local farmers 🧑🌾 hospitality to the rescue 🛟
WOW JOE WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO DO THIS RACE I TAKE IT WASNT FOR THE BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE. BUT BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE THAT PUT YOU UP FOR THE NIGHT . WELL DONE....
Great effort to win Joe. I watched Josh Ibbett’s videos following the race and that was fascinating, so it was great to finally view your own video account. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Brilliant! It was so good to dot-watch you and Rufus at the time and now be able to see what was actually happening to you back then. Really appreciate your trouble in assembling this summary - inspirational stuff... BTW Lachy is currently establishing the milestone for your next epic :)
Great video Joe, you could really feel the change in your motivation and energy levels once you got a sniff of the lead...once you were on the charge it felt there was only one outcome possible.
Mean effort there Joe I had a feeling you would win so another one ticked off don’t know about that hair colour though I think Rufus looks more natural 😂 congratulations to both of you.
could you enjoy it at all? the scenery etc? I remember my first cape epic (I crashed really badly on day 3 so I only did 3 days) was so brutal it was just a case of surviving. I enjoyed my second one for more.
Nice one Joe! That looked insanely tough. You kiwis would be used to really high elevation wouldnt you? I was thinking how hard this would be as an Aussie

Nice one Joe! That looked insanely tough. You kiwis would be used to really high elevation wouldnt you? I was thinking how hard this would be as an Aussie
Nah we max out at 3800 meters. Tough as hell terrain but no altitude to battle.
@Sm868 well we max out at 2300 so you've got us covered!
@@edzeppelin933You got NZ beat on riding in the heat though, and I don’t envy you that haha.
letssshhhgooo!!!
Cramps that bad eh? Freaky 😮
Which Poc helmet do you wear ? Ventral Air Mips ?
I would not have guessed watermelon was a Kyrgyzstani staple.
What ya done to your hair joe 😂
Way to many selfyshots instead of landscape and race
@avbvb2681 why don't you take part in the race, win it and make a better video seeing as how you seem to know how to do it better.
