I remember waking up to that fact just after high school. Everyone has that awkward growing up phase in school, but when you're gay it can be just so much harder. You grow up so fast. It's difficult too because I've seen a lot of people 10 or 15 years after high school that never supported lgbt+ people suddenly become champions to the cause and I think.... What took you so long? Your heart doesn't just break in School, it can be turned to stone, and it takes years to warm again and let that bitterness and resentment go.
