Found it interesting that the blondie was allowed to live. Maybe she would return to spread the story of the forest guardian and the huntress as a warning against poaching? Finnish folklore could go against this entirely, I don’t know anything about it, but it makes for an interesting thought.
Outside of the song, this has pretty much nothing to do with finnish mythology or folklore. The forest and clothing makes me think its more south European or even American and the story is more wiccan than finnish paganist Edit:I missed the name of the short.. tellervo is a character from finnish mythology. Being either the daughter, wife or a servant to the finnish God of the forest, her job is to shepard his flock.
to be fair, blondie did stop trying to kill her after the arrow was fired even though he still had the knife. Where as the the hunters had already killed an animal so the forest guardian balanced the equation by turning them into an animal.
For those confused, I don't think this is about killing animals. It's about killing for fun/sport. All the animals she deals with were killed and left to waste, not taken to be eaten like it's meant to be. The boar was shot and left and next to the elk, there's 3 more corpses, all left to waste. So the message doesn't seem to be "don't kill animals, even if it's to survive", it's more like "don't kill other living creatures when it's not necessary".
She killed one of the moose hunters before they had a change to harvest the meat. Nothing about their actions on the surface indicated they were poaching or hunting for no reason (seems kind of off to set the story in a distant past when hunting purely for sport pretty much didn't exist). How do we know she did not kill the boar hunter before they had that opportunity as well?
@POCKET-SAND From what I seen (might be wrong) the moose hunters were't trying to harvest the meat, they were trying to cut it's antler to bring it back, like a trophy or a proof of their hunt I think

Oh yes I'm not even sure she's human. But, props to her, she never lied about what she was/was like, not even a little. She KNOWS what she is in nature, you can run or hide or fight(or stay) at your own digression. that was nice.
Nature is exactly that in perspective for us as humans aka neither good nor bad since nature both takes and gives; but I do have to say that in the end nature is the cycle that will continually keep giving even when taking, which is a bright spot amongst what we loose!
I mean to be fair, she didn't seeml to mind hunting in general, only excessive hunting for sport/fun. She didn't come to the town to exact revenge for the goose killed for food in the beginning, she never harmed the Huntress or even the blond person, even though the latter was a direct threat to her. She was pretty objectively in the right, and didn't even kill. Just made people replace what they had taken.
After the first two minutes, I just thought all the time: "Please don't let anyone kill one of the two, because they are far too sweet together!" 😅. But I love it!
this animation remembers me of a story of a farytale book where this girl, who everybody thought was ugly and useless, was sent to kill a beast who thretened the kingdom. She was too scared and ended up telling stories to the beast to make him feel less lonely. This happened three times before the king asked the head of the beast. But the girl couldn't do it, so she ran away and lived with the beast, untill she fell inlove with him
Everything is beautiful! the music, the art style and the story, it's beautiful! You guys are that kind of people who inspire me to pursue my dream as an animator. I hope you guys continue to make more arts like this. ☺❤❤
Yeah, I really don't think that human artists can ever fully be replaced by AI. Not until humans stop doing art entirely. If AI does lots of art then humans might get discouraged, but only if that AI Art is good enough for people to still not seek human-made stuff. And honestly I think that AI would serve better as an assistant instead of something that does everything. After all, it was never meant to entirely replace humans for everything anyway.
I loved it…the animation and story was beautiful❤ There’s only one part I’m confused about, the moose If they were killing it for food then it’s kinda unfair to punish them unless they were poachers killing for sport… i can only assume they were poachers after the dead boar.
Actually, back then, it was common to lose game due to their hunting with arrows. They’d almost always have to track their food after landing a shot, so it can easily be assumed that both the boar and the moose were for food.
My thought on it is always why should a forest goddess be kind to humans who aren't a part of her forest? Even if they are hunting for food, from her perspective i suppose it just isn't her job to care.
Here's my theory/take: when someone hunts a moose, even for food, there needs to be a balance in regards to the population of the moose. Avoid overhunting, right? So maybe the forest spirit enacts this by turning one of the hunters into a moose for every moose they kill.
