So, first things first, I love the chess pieces, which show the possible suspects who caused the death of Helena. But this also shows that these suspects also, or most likely, had someone they lost and ended up losing to the game rules because they were so filled with rage and focused on revenge. The last guy-I wanna call him Robin-knew exactly how to get under Logan's skin. Because Logan was so impatient, eager, and angry, it was easy to trick Logan into killing him. And so, Logan became a chess piece, just like the rest of them.
Logan was emotionally vulnerable, they saw that, they understand that, and they took advantage of that. Her grief was a tool for them; for she acted out of anger and hustled her decisions. She was an easy target and in the end of the day she became a pawn and has committed the same mistake as many others, She blindly followed what she wanted and what she believed she needed, she never became capable of moving on.
The second guy was cool imo because he learned from his mistake and wanted to help her make a better choice, very interesting contrast to the last guy who had the kinda “misery loves company” deal going on

Yeah, I like that, too. Tho I'm not sure if accepting the second guy's proposition would actually be the right decision. I mean - maybe. For her sister, at least. So that's good enough, I'd say. But not for Logan, since her goal was to collect the masks without killing the ones wearing them. She failed because she killed, yeah. But if she didn't collect all the masks - that would be her fail, too. So her foul would pro ably be taken by Mephistopheles anyway. But yeah, at least her sister would rest in peace. Maybe. If she could trust the guy, that is. At least that's what I think. Tho, obviously, the best choice would be not to summon a demon to begin with... But I also understand that losing a sister may very well drive someone to some very ultimate decisions

" Prove that your sister is more important than your anger." What an interesting line, it feels more as though he's pushing her towards virtue than a trap... (P.S. Trying to learn French & this channel definitely helps. Absolutely stunning artwork & character design btw^^ I loved the perception of the second opponent & the brashness of the last. Le Mal reminds me a bit of Xelef from A Tale of Crowns, just w/that trickster attitude.)
Its a classic subtle trope in French and A few other European mythological demons. They want to see you Triumph and prove them wrong on their negative view of mankind. They just don’t think you will.
Mostly do to the perception of fallen angels as driven by despair and having no hope that mankind deserves salvation. As an artistic motif from the Renaissance period of France that carried forward(what fun)
That's an interesting thing about Mephistopheles in the original legends that tends not to get translated into other stuff, even Goethe's play. He tries a few times to get Faust to choose virtue, and even tries to convince him not to make the pact in the first place. I love that the writer used that more positive quality in this take of the character
Not gonna lie- I'd love to see a show like this where it's a similar plot and it shows each character having a reason to summon the demon guy (whether for revenge or whatever) and follow Logan's path, either to succeed or fail, just like Logan. The style gives off a beautiful anime style with a bit of a western like twist which makes it amazing. Not to mention the story was so well written even for a short film!
In the end, it was not about saving her sister, but taking revenge for what was taken away from her. This is obvious right from the second trial, because she chooses to pursue her sister's soul rather than let her rest in peace. It's not about her sister, it's about herself. The anger at the end is just the completion of that.
Her sisters soul was with Mephisto mean not heaven mean it hinted her sister Made deal to if he had her soul already in hell Logan tried to free no erst in peace eternal suffering
Her revenge would have be meaningless if deal was to get sister weiland alive if her sister would been in heaven the deal would be Invaliden Mephisto would not get her back alife he lie even if she did won he cant bring back the dead the devil dont create give life only god can a lie from start
Her win would be in vain Mephisto ganz bring back the dead he lied falsch promises are seduction to agree to a deal you actually cant sell the soul why it given by god its a trick to agree to just enter hell the prison of lucifer Mephisto suffer aswell you badivally gibe up to return to god heaven by your own chioce a lie trick that doomed do many others in the afterlife
I loved the art and the design of the background and the characters. The concept of how grief could make you so vulnerable and mad and how a villain took advantage of that, and in the end of the day she lost and become one of his many pawns was a good that relied around execution. Although I thought it was awfully fast paced for so many events and concepts at once, which made the villian feel weak; it's hard to show the psychology of how the character must feel when it's more focused around the event itself. I enjoyed it and believe with a little improvement in the wording and pacing and character writing (mainly the villain to show the two sides of the spectrum) it may be amazing, I understand is a short but I just felt like it was cutting alot of ideas because of the time limit and tried enforcing the entirety of the story( It would've been better to premier a thrilling first look/episode into the series ).
I think I agree with you completely but I don't think they could've done this with such a big idea and so many concepts. They would have to make an entire series which is way too much for a small animation team. I think it would actually be better to go more in depth but have less ideas and have the scope be smaller.
Wow this was absolutely gorgeous! Normally I prefer a happy ending but she did make a deal with a (fantastically designed) devil so it makes a lot of sense for things to not turn out like sunshine and roses for her. The flow of the colors and animation was amazing and the emotions were so well portrayed, even with the limited animation timeframe.
"When you set out on the path to revenge, dig two graves." love the character design and storytelling even though it was a bit fast-paced. If you ever get the chance to expand this story into a longer film (or series), I'd love to see it!
This is so awesome for only being 7 minutes long!!! I love the story so much, while being condensed, it's still ambitious and completes the story it's trying to tell very well!!! And that animation? Ooh la la, simply wonderful!!! This was a treat for my eyes to feast upon!!! Very pleasing to look at! Line weights, colors, designs, movements, backgrounds, all gorgeous!
The scene at 3:01 was insanely well done. They controlled my attention so well, by the time I looked at the new copy of her and looked back, the old copy was gone. Absolutely mind blowing.
The mask appearing on and then being removed from Logan almost seems to say, "One of them may have murdered her first, but YOU are responsible for killing her the second time."
It was very interesting that Helena was wearing a mask. I thought for a second Logan was going to remove Helena's mask, thus revealing that she actually killed *herself*, and then would be forced to choose whether to bring her back against her will, or stab her with the knife to break the pact and let her die in peace, thus dooming herself in the process...
It’s a harsh lesson in the dangers of hate. Hate can take up so much room in one’s heart and mind, leaving no room for love, or judgment. Hate also makes you susceptible to be taken advantage of, and she certainly learned that the hard way
It warn you not to make a deal with him but Jan and dan they both Made it out of the deal won against the devil the devil were was more scarey tricks than this one here who looks like zuko
Mm-mm-mm! This animation is awesome. I love the lip syncing in particular, the way it's done is satisfying to watch. When Logan runs, the weight is always there. Also, the character designs are through the roof. When you see Méphistophélès from his right side, he looks more like a creature than a man. And the ending was also great. When she held the last mask, like a blade, I figured that was how she'd kill him. But her taking the blade _out of Helena's corpse_ is so genius. She probably did love her sister. But not as much as she wanted to be the one to take revenge. Not nearly as much. Oh, and the voice acting. It might sound weird to say, but I feel like it highlighted the strengths of the French language. And the general quietness makes it easy to get comfortable, as though it's clear how it will end. There are few surprises, but it's still so entertaining to witness. That, or I've watched this too many times. Overall, phenomenal animation, I wish there was more.
Would’ve loved to see the mood board for this project! If I’m correct the teams decisions of taking inspiration pieces of The Labyrinth and Anastasia were so incredibly well done, making a film of their own that’s so whimsical and thought provoking!!
I have a theory... the final boss wasn't the man who killed Logan's sister but another entity bearing his face. By the way, Logan is trying to bring his sister back, it seems her killer was never caught. Helena never got justice, which is why Logan is trying so hard to bring her back. Considering all the bosses were spirits of past people who lost the Mephistopheles games or just entities he created for the game, I don't think Helena's killer was caught or dead based on how which Logan reacts to when she sees him, so Mephistopheles would have no way of reaching him. So this must be another terrible person who made a deal with Mephistopheles and was sent to be the final boss of his games, most likely killed over and over again, being the final push for players to lose. or I could read too far into this wonderful story :). the animation is really pretty and I like the voices too. Very well done!
This was very interesting! I liked it. Could see it expanded into a little mini series or something. Nice twist that Logan ended up choosing the unhappy ending.
This is one of my favourite short films ever created. This is out of our world, absolutely EXCELLENT work. I almost teared up with how well-made and beautiful it was! 🕊 I could go on for hours for how much I love this.
OH NOOO! Logan was so close! DX Man, This is by far my favorite animation! The design of the characters are so Wow! But not yet, we're still have a lot of animated short films to see before I give my veredict.
This is stunning. The animation, music, voice acting, and script were all stellar for such a short project. Congrats to your team! You guys have a bright future in animation.
Bravo !
This is breathtakingly beautiful 😻! I too like how the ending doesn’t bode well for Logan, but it makes sense at the same time for the story itself. I only discovered this video a few days ago, and it already stole my heart to the extent that I want to watch it every day. Plus, I’m just gonna say it: I have a feeling that the three opponents Logan faced are also victims of Mephistopheles, and while the first two tried to get her to quit before she met her cruel fate (so she couldn’t make the same mistake they did), the last one knew how to get to Logan and that’s what sealed her demise
This was so freaking good. I absolutely loved it. The storytelling was great, animation was super nice, and the character designs were gorgeous. Fantastic work!
Amazing animation! Loved every second of it! That being said, Logan really was a shortsighted fool, her desire for revenge outweighing anything else. Mephistopheles gave her all the tools to save her sister AND get revenge on the murderer. Mephistopheles had shown her the face of the murderer. Had she only taken mask, she would have her sister, the deal would be complete and everyone would be free on their way. After the deal was completed, Logan would be free to pursue the murderer now that she'd seen his face, there would be no repercussions there. Granted, that would go against the message of letting go of ones desire for revenge, but at least that way she would still have her soul.
Seeing as the murderer seems to be one of his pawns, I think it implies he already died (execution? someone else's revenge? accident?), and left nothing and no one for Logan to take her anger out on. That, or his supernatural master makes him otherwise untouchable.
love the style and story! character design was spot on, something about the shapes, colors, and motifs. and story is quite simple but still engaging: will she lose herself or will she save her sister? loved it!
I like how Logan isn’t really portrayed as good, her whole quest was not to see her sister again but to have revenge, it’s a entirely selfish act. Instead of letting her sister rest, she wanted to forcefully bring her back instead of letting her rest in peace. Her anger took control over her which caused her to lose the bargain
this is so good😭 the character designs are spot on and the backgrounds are so cool, the dub and animation is awesome as well id watch a whole series like this
It was never about her sister, it was always about her. Her grieve Her misery Her guilt Her revenge When given the choice to live her life and let her sister rest in peace, she chose to try and bring her back despite knowing they'll both be miserable.
I love how when the 2nd 'enemy' showed Logan the other choice instead of letting the sister rest in peace, we actually see the silhouette of the 3rd 'enemy' holding the sister with a dagger to her neck. It's so interesting to see how this all played out :0
I like that the animation did not have a happy ending, simply because it would have been too predictable, and thus the bad ending came as a sort of twist (because we naturally expect the protagonist to always overcome their obstacles/issues). I feel that other animators or studios really should take the daring risk of giving life to animations that don't always have your typical happy ending, because it will provide something to think about, and also inspire others to create stories that aren't always rainbows and sunshine. Also, I love your art-style and flow of animation (especially the use of transitional angles and choices of colour per scene to reflect each character).
Wao! This is a wonderful animation with a strong lesson to depict from. LESSON LEARNT Never allow your anger to consume you. As bible says," guard your heart with all you have, everything you do flows from it. Logan allowed her anger and taste for revenge blindfold her, therefore she forgot the purpose of her mission to bring back her sister alive.

What an interesting line, it feels more as though he's pushing her towards virtue than a trap...
"I am the part of the force that craves for evil but does good eternally", as Goethe said.
Definitely it reminds me of Art Noveau style
i mean you ever watched the anime Death Parade? Somewhat similar plot
Yeah I would love multiple episodes like that! ❤
Why is every character in this literally so hot?!
I will say that the character design is amazing. Nothing more, since I value my dignity on the internet.
@@BurntSushi. lmao
maybe because you haven’t left your room in days
@@Prismate what's wrong with thinking characters are good looking?
@Prismate if you think thats bad then do NOT get involved with any anime or gacha game communities 💀 this is pretty tame
Why was the murderer so hot?
It's not fair to mess with my moral compass like that.
Completely agree!
I think I agree with you completely but I don't think they could've done this with such a big idea and so many concepts. They would have to make an entire series which is way too much for a small animation team. I think it would actually be better to go more in depth but have less ideas and have the scope be smaller.
@@jairdinh7563fr and it would be cool if there will be another ep of this since it interesting
She had a chioce she could have mercy than she would have won the devil lie After all and helena was already dead relieve the death a trick Illusion
"When you set out on the path to revenge, dig two graves."
love the character design and storytelling even though it was a bit fast-paced. If you ever get the chance to expand this story into a longer film (or series), I'd love to see it!
It’s fast pace because the short film I guess
french voice acting is always on point, this was incredible!!
glad to see a demon making deals to try andteach mortals the lessons they refuse to learn
"Prove your sister is more important than your anger" OH I LOVE THIS!!!
I have a theory: I think the guy who killed her sister was promised an escape if he got her to kill him. If he dies, his soul is gone.
Line weights, colors, designs, movements, backgrounds, all gorgeous!
thank you so much, we are so happy you enjoy it 😁
This needs to be a series
It was mesmerizing as always. The story reminded me of Orpheus's.
The characters, the backgrounds, and the colours are all gorgeous! The animation as a whole evokes so much feeling, it's beautiful!
you guys knew what you were doing when you designed Mephistopheles...
Look, I’m just saying, if a demon’s job is to tempt you, doesn’t it make sense for them to be attractive?
THE CHARACTERS ARE SO BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED!!!!!
It’s a harsh lesson in the dangers of hate.
Hate can take up so much room in one’s heart and mind, leaving no room for love, or judgment.
Hate also makes you susceptible to be taken advantage of, and she certainly learned that the hard way
HE'S SO ATTRACTIVE???? IM CRYING
Im used to the devil in devil and mouse aswell a animated movie
It warn you not to make a deal with him but Jan and dan they both Made it out of the deal won against the devil the devil were was more scarey tricks than this one here who looks like zuko
“IM CRYING”
see this is why men don’t understand women why can’t you just go “AWOOGA” with your eyes popping out of your sockets like we do

I'd watch this as an entire movie! I LOVED this one!
the character designs are GORGEOUS!!
Everyone is talking about how Logan got what she deserved..
While i’m here simping over a damn demon, Mephistopheles…
LMAO ME TOO
REALL
Mephisto is hot as hell
He can take my soul any day
My man really has a case of crows feet.
The art style is gorgeous. Love Mephistopheles design.
The art style is gorgeous! Love the animation. Good job 👍 👏
This is so well drawn. And dang… i love the grin on number 3
Omg! This would be a amazing series!
I love this theme. The masks, the ballroom, the string music. Wonderfully made! Interesting ending.
This is one of my favourite short films ever created. This is out of our world, absolutely EXCELLENT work. I almost teared up with how well-made and beautiful it was! 🕊 I could go on for hours for how much I love this.
OH NOOO! Logan was so close! DX
Man, This is by far my favorite animation! The design of the characters are so Wow! But not yet, we're still have a lot of animated short films to see before I give my veredict.
I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. Excited to finally see it!
This is stunning. The animation, music, voice acting, and script were all stellar for such a short project. Congrats to your team! You guys have a bright future in animation.
This remind me so much of 1986 Labyrinth. Our hot "villain", those stairs and ball scene.
She as so close to getting it, hat a shame her anger blinded her!
im so in love with these designs oh my god
Awesome !!! 🤩
Lovely aesthetics, beautiful animation and excellent dubbing ! Congratulation to everyone who worked on this project !!!
i feel like i want a full series after that
This is breathtakingly beautiful 😻!
I would have watched an entire series with this character design, animation, direction, and music. Amazing job 20/10
WONDERFUL STORYYYY!!! Im sad for what happened to the character, but the logic and reality was beautifully captured, thoroughly impressed!!!
God the voices are just perfect

I love that ive been getting these animations recommended in my feed
I don't know much French, but c'est très magnifique!
I can't get over how fluid the animation is, the character designs, story...I just love them all!!! ❤
@@bluelfsuma not necessarily. that could just be a shade wearing the murderers face. I may be wrong, of course. Regardless, Logan is still a fool.
Yoooooo!!!!!! This is so well done!!!!!!!!!
Everything is incredible, including the voice acting! Excellent animation!
Incroyable !
okay but like the devil guy kinda fine asl
Le casting vocal 😍
love the style and story! character design was spot on, something about the shapes, colors, and motifs. and story is quite simple but still engaging: will she lose herself or will she save her sister? loved it!
Oh that was really cool. I’d love to see a series set in this world.
Absolutely in love with this story! i would watch 100 chapters! the worldbuilding and the character designs are so beautiful!
Well, this is just incredible. Plot, animation, style....love, love, love.
I like how Logan isn’t really portrayed as good, her whole quest was not to see her sister again but to have revenge, it’s a entirely selfish act. Instead of letting her sister rest, she wanted to forcefully bring her back instead of letting her rest in peace. Her anger took control over her which caused her to lose the bargain
this is so good😭 the character designs are spot on and the backgrounds are so cool, the dub and animation is awesome as well
id watch a whole series like this
I’m in love with the animation!
Damn, this was sooo good. I wish it will have a continue 😍😍😍
That was amazing, a classic tale of madness taking over good intentions. A lesson that everyone should know 😊
Mephistopheles has no business being that hot 😭😭😭😭
It was never about her sister, it was always about her.
Her grieve
Her misery
Her guilt
Her revenge
When given the choice to live her life and let her sister rest in peace, she chose to try and bring her back despite knowing they'll both be miserable.
LESSON LEARNT
Never allow your anger to consume you. As bible says," guard your heart with all you have, everything you do flows from it.
Logan allowed her anger and taste for revenge blindfold her, therefore she forgot the purpose of her mission to bring back her sister alive.
So great, I want more from these characters.
I like how all the chess pieces are souls he already owns, she never needed to get revenge on the murderer, the devil already had his soul.
