Companies that pay their servers through tips get away murder, like here in Pennsylvania, the minimum wage for tipped employees is $2.83 per hour, plus tips, with a maximum tip credit of $4.42 per hour. This means that employers can credit a portion of an employee's tips towards the minimum wage they must pay them. For example, if an employee receives $5 in tips, their employer can credit $4.42 towards their hourly wage, leaving them with a cash wage of $2.83 People are cheap, especially the rich...

I agree, but door dasher isn't our employer. We are 1099. We have to pay our taxes, insurance, fuel, monthly oil changes, tire rotations, break downs depreciation etc. HOWEVER, obviously I strongly disagree with all the complaining when the driver accepts the order that happens to be a little or no tip. You do have the option to decline the offer. I am always surprised at how people want you to do their shopping for 40 to 100 items, bag them load them, unload them while keeping cold items cold, as you should, and drive 10 plus miles each way for little or no tip. If it takes me an hour to complete the tasks, I should be making an hours worth of wage not 10 dollars or less. AGAIN, we have the choice to decline the offer So if you want to offer no tip, and many people decline it until someone decides to take it, please don't leave that person a bad review when you receive cold food, it wasn't their fault. 20 years ago I gave the pizza delivery guy a 5 dollar tip. Why is that so shocking to do today? People don't work for free, so please consider the value delivery drivers offer, and tip accordingly along with leaving a good review! It is much appreciated.

4:58 you got it wrong. The driver should have change for a 50. Drive is just trying to keep the change for the 50. If she had change she would have gotten a bigger tip.
Exactly, the buyer probably came up with 1 - $10, 1 - $20, and 1 - $5 = $35, which leaves a $2 tip and didn't have any more money other than a $50.. If the drive had change, the drive could have gotten more, but nope ..
Wrong again! Delivery drivers don't carry change for more than $20. Sorry, but I delivered pizza on and off for 10 years and you're not supposed to carry more than $20 on you at any time for safety reasons. It's against the policy of the different pizza restaurants. And yes, I've worked for four of them. Then again, I've never stabbed someone for not giving me a tip; and I would get 14.97 order and they would hand me $15 and tell me to keep the change. I just smiled and told him to have a good night and then cuss them out to myself when I got in my car. Lol
@melissadwiggins if she )delivery driver) had $20 in change, she only needed $17 to give back from $50. That way she might have gotten the $3 tip (1 more than the $2 she got), or maybe even a $5 that the buyer already had. Edit: fingers touch the 3 instead of the 7..
I was coming on here to write the same exact thing. If you're someone who depends on tips then you better carry cash on you in all denominations. I did pizza delivery for 25 years, full or part time and as an owner of 2 stores. Delivery drivers remember 2 kinds of people: those who dont tip, and those who tip well. Delivery drivers can be nasty, but almost always to those who truly and richly deserve it. No tip or bad tip typically would not get a driver riled up too much. Habitual offenders ALWAYS get something extra! Is it right? No. Does it happen? YES!!!! This gal is going where she needs to be.
Are you really that slow? So if you see someone harming a baby and you have a blade. That person doesnt deserve to be poked? Do you ever use your brain?
Jobs offer a base pay aside from tips, the other thing is no one is entitled to a tip. Tips are done through the graciousness of the customer’s heart, they are nice because it’s tax free in most cases. No one is obligated to tip.
Lol let's do math. Couldn't pay with a 50 dollar bill. So found smaller bills to pay. 20+10+5=35. The bill was 33. That's her 2 dollar tip. Maybe if they had two 20s and asked for change from 40 dollars I'd understand the anger. But if you don't have change for a 50 you can't complain when a tip can't be fashioned for you.
The way I tip pizza delivery drivers depends on the estimated time of arrival. If they show up on time or before, they will get a decent tip. If they show up 10 minutes or more late, they get no tip.
She only got the $2 because she's a shitty delivery driver for not carrying enough small bills to make change. If I don't have the right change, that's on me.
@TheMotherReborn I delivered for several pizza companies. And none of them cared how much you carried, but having $20 -30 in small bills is a requirement. So she still failed at her job.
It sounds to me like they only had small bills that added up to a $2 tip. So instead gave the $50 to get the change to give a bigger tip. The driver didn’t have change so they had to give her the small bills and $2 tip. I’m thinking this had nothing to do with the tip and had to do with the driver seeing the money they had when looking for a smaller bill. Just a robbery gone very bad and the driver and boyfriend should never get out of jail.
Tipping is OPTIONAL! Never expect it. I don't tip unless it's excellent service. But not after so many screw ups. A person just delivering pizza is nothing more than like Amazon delivering a pkg. They did nothing but drive. Besides, the pay anymore is dependant on tips. Pay is higher with little tips.
I don’t get food delivered and I rarely go out because of the expectation of a 20% tip. It’s ridiculous. Take out is mostly garbage anyway and so is most restaurant food so save the money and cook for yourself.

Came here to say this! If she had given her the change she most likely would have gotten a larger tip.
I feel like that in this situation to pay with a 50 if maybe a $10 tip, but she had no change, well I wouldn't tip anyone over 10 bucks for pizza like that so I guess you get the two bucks because that's all the money I have since you can't break my 50.

💯 Exactly what I thought too!
@ Sadly one of those things she probably had the best of intentions, but the math and logic did not make sense because the drivers are not allowed to carry very much change so she may not have had change for a 50 which I thought was the plateau especially if you order is $33 it looks like she would at least have the $17 And she would have probably brought a $10 bill or 2-5 dollar bills and rest in ones, which would’ve given her options of how much to pay back to her for the tip but maybe the delivery lady just got offended because she figured she deserved the $17 which would legit have been over a 50% tip. But it is sad that our economy has gotten to this point and several lives have been affected because of literally four dollars versus a regular 20% tip
exactly if she only had a 50, 20, 10 and a 5 without getting change the only tip she could give was 2$ or the remaining 17$ from the 50's change
