this remains the best snatch visual guide/ analysis on the internet IMO and have seen tons of them. it is perfection. maps out every phase in detail with great simplicity. love to watch it at quarter speed.

It's far from perfect from a " textbook " point of view.
Torokh uses a "bull snatch" technique which is basically the technique used by lesser technical OWLers who have lots of power
Go see Rebeka Koha or Kuo Hsing Chun for perfect snatching, or Yuri Zakharevich for a male of similar size

    • @piotrcichy3506

It means to flex your posterior chain muscles to keep your spine solid, you do that by arching your back

This is not a criticism. Torokhtiy is a purist. Why, in a video like this, would he skip details in the most important portion of the snatch? There is nothing sufficiently illustrating the transition, which is where most of us fail. Full foot at start position; check. Balls of feet with the slightest outward rotation to assume catch position; missing. Middle foot at catch; check. Full foot at end position; check. He has a video that deals extensively with transitions. Watch it. It's from his very early work; less media, more substance.
If you are American and need a Russian friend.who is not "Putin," go for this guy; or try his arch rival, Klokov. Don't look further: you will never find a better combination of Russian grit, smarts, humor, and friendliness. Thanks!
