How dose this history curriculum represent African History & that of the Africa diaspora around the world? I'm looking for a history curriculum that is not "whitewashed", which I feel is very detrimental to society & especially detrimental to our black children's sence of self.
I have also struggled with finding a history curriculum because of these issues. I am currently doing volume 1 which discusses from Nomads to the last roman emperor. I did this a long side heritage mom blogs Africa unit study. I do not believe that any curriculum will give a full view of history. SOTW makes a great spine so far to branch off of. I will continue to use all sort of things to bring history alive in our home and continue to be a student of history myself. Truth be told I am at a point where I want my children to love just fall in love with Africa and Heritage Mom does a great job at providing an awesome unit for that.
@@PlanPrepPray Thank you so much for your prompt & truthful reply! I will look into the resources as well. I look forward to more of your videos! May God bless you and your family tremendously!
Family style is my favorite part of Story of the World
I love how you included yourself in the age groups that are learning...this is my heart's desire for adding Story of the World into our upcoming year of learning. Thank you for the glimpse into your lesson!
You're an amazing mama and so funny! Thank you for sharing this beautiful video, it was really helpful to me!!!
You are so welcome!
My son practically memorized these CDs as a young boy. We had the books and activity books too, but mostly he enjoyed building Legos or riding in the car while listening to the CDs.
Yes, my friend Katie does these in the car as well. I will be trying that as well.
Yes! The activity book is jam packed with soo many resources
It's my favorite!
We are doing this one now as well, on Chapter 33. Love it and my daughter loves it as well, have learned so much. As she reads I usually have her write 3 interesting facts from each chapter and share them with me. I’ve learned so much too lol! Thank you for sharing 💕📚
That is awesome! Love that I'm not the only one learning with my kiddos lol!
I totally hear you about giving mom a break from reading out loud. Mama needs a break! I read out loud so much that this is such a HUGE plus for SOTW that they have an audio CD option.
It's amazing!
Love how we can do it all as a family
Yes! Mommy is learning at the same time!
We're just finishing up the first Volume. And just received the 2nd volume. We do the whole curriculum. Plus make up some of our own. Thank you for sharing this info from your prospective. Because I value your channel.
Thank you so much for reaching out. We are so excited about volume two!
The CDs!!! Yes!! They help SO much!!
CD's are amazing!
Love the activity book and the book list!
The best!
We used volume one last year and really loved it!
That’s the one we are doing so good
We love the CDs so much!
Yes!!
This video was helpful. I'm currently using The Story of the World with my first grader and she absolutely loves it. I've been a bit unsure as to what I should do in terms of using the test book. I started using it for the first two-three chapters then realized that it's a lot of questions and my daughter wasn't that interested in doing the questions so I don't really use it now. Instead of giving her all the test papers, I write out three or four of the most important questions in her Story of the World Booklet that I put together for her and she will answer those questions and paste a picture related to the topic. Do you think this is a good approach? I do the oral narrations and reviews questions too. Do you use the test book at all? Love your advice on that!
I'm doing story of the world as well I love this curriculum.
That’s awesome!
The cd’s would be a lifesaver.
Yes, if you don't have it I definitely recommend it.
Would you consider showing us how you went about organizing the children's bound books? 😊
Yes but you can also dm me on instagram and I will walk you through it.
Thank you Wendy! Great Lesson 😊
You are so welcome!
I can’t imagine doing SOTW without the activity book! It’s the meat! Lol
Thank you for that genius recommendation it really changed things for us and brought history alive for us.
This sounds like a great resource!
We love it
Lol...dang. I only got the readers. Maybe I'll get the activity books later.
Definitely check out ThriftBooks for deals on the activity book
I am going to homeschool next year. My son will be going to the 3rd grade. Should I start from Volume 1 or Volume 3?
Start from 1, make sure to get the activity book
Are the answers to the questions in the teacher text? Thanks!
Yes
