    So..question.. my kid does a hybrid twice a week, and i also work 2 days a week. So my week really looks strange, and not every day follows the same patterns. I could see how my child might be confused by this but generally we so school at home on tuesdays and one day on the weekend. Could i still say i have a consistent schedule when a lot of days just seem different? 🤔

    • @PlanPrepPray
      @PlanPrepPray 3 дня назад

      Absolutely, you can still have a consistent schedule, even if each day looks a little different! Consistency is more about creating a rhythm everyone can count on rather than having every day be identical. With Tuesdays and a weekend day as your main homeschool days, you could try setting up routines that match each type of day-whether it’s a hybrid day, a workday, or a homeschool day. That way, everyone knows what to expect, even if the activities change. Over time, this routine will help things feel smoother and more organized, even with the unique weekly flow you have going!

    Switching from level K The good and the beautiful. It’s my first serious year homeschooling; although I have homeschooled my oldest since preschool. I now homeschool another preschooler and am really over the good and the beautiful math and English. So I switched to CLE based on several videos that make it a good fit for both myself and my child. I’ve got the LA 1 program and also learning to read 1. Should I only be doing learning to read 1? Would the LA be too rigorous? I was thinking LA would touch base on writing a bit. But I can always save it for my preschooler. We also got math 1.

    • @PlanPrepPray
      @PlanPrepPray 9 дней назад

      They do not start LA until they reach Learning to Read (LTR) Light unit book 5. After LTR book 10, they begin reading 1. We do all of it because it complements each other very well and offers extra reinforcement of different concepts. For some children, I slow it down, so I will take 2 days to complete all 3 books. What I do is set a 20-minute timer for each book and switch. After an hour, we stop.

    How would you go about encouraging kiddos to help out without them moaning and groaning lol mine can't stay focused or don't even want to try to help clean their own mess, like their toys or rooms. They feel overwhelmed and complain it's to much

    • @PlanPrepPray
      @PlanPrepPray 10 дней назад

      This is so relatable we have all been there. It sounds like the overwhelm and frustration the kiddos feel might be a bigger obstacle than the actual cleaning. One thing that can help is breaking tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks, so the mess doesn’t feel like a mountain they can’t climb. Instead of saying, “Clean your whole room,” it could be something like, “Pick up all the red toys,” or “Let’s tackle one corner together.” Also, making it fun can help shift their mindset. Turn it into a game or challenge, like a 10-minute tidy race, or play some upbeat music and clean together. The key is to build a sense of accomplishment in small wins and slowly build up their confidence. You could also talk about stewardship, how God calls us to be faithful over what we’ve been given, even our toys and rooms.

    I am in an inconsistent stage of homeschooling simply bc I'm tired. This is my 21st year schooling 7 children, 4 still at home. I'm going through menopause with serious symptoms and I'm lucky if I get 3 hours of solid sleep each night. I'm generally falling asleep between 6-7 when I would normally be getting up. I don't feel burnout but I do get discouraged sometimes. That's why it's important to view your failures and successes in light of what season you're in and give yourself grace.

    • @PlanPrepPray
      @PlanPrepPray 10 дней назад

      Wow, 21 years of homeschooling-that's amazing! It’s normal to feel tired and discouraged, especially with everything you're dealing with. You said something really important-understanding that this is just a season and giving yourself grace is key. In this season, focus on quality over quantity. Even if you’re not getting through as much work as you used to, the time you spend with your kids still makes a big difference. This could be a time to let your kids do more independent work or use self-paced resources, so you can rest when needed. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help if you can. You’ve been homeschooling for a long time, and even during this tough season, you’re still showing up for your kids-that’s something to be proud of! Take it one day at a time, and remember to be kind to yourself. You’re doing great!

    How do you maintain it when you work outside the home and you’re the only one teaching? Sometimes I want to give up.

    • @PlanPrepPray
      @PlanPrepPray 10 дней назад

      I hear you, and that’s such a tough spot to be in. Balancing work outside the home while being the sole teacher can feel overwhelming, but you’re doing an amazing job even when it doesn’t feel like it. One strategy that might help is to simplify and prioritize. Focus on the core subjects first, and don’t be afraid to scale back when needed. Some days may just be about covering the essentials, and that’s okay! Also, consider using self-paced resources or online courses to give yourself a bit of breathing room when you're not available. It can take some of the pressure off while still ensuring your kids are learning. Lastly, if possible, see if there are family members or friends who can step in to help with some subjects or even with grading assignments. Remember, homeschooling doesn’t have to look perfect-it just needs to be sustainable for your family. You’ve got this!

  • @MeachumVillage

      Yes! We tend to forget that is the beauty of homeschooling.

  • @Coffeeandkiddos

    We always start around the same time every day. We start with a read aloud, then at least a page or lesson from each of the main subjects ( reading, math, language arts, writing, and spelling). Each of the additional, subjects are assigned one or two days per week and have a sticky note on the cover of them with the day it is assigned to( ex. Geography, science, health, social studies, etc). Each day the kids work through their assigned work, and are also expected to read a chapter from their independent reading book. It works well for us. My oldest son's routine is a bit different, and includes a bit more independence, but is basically the same idea. I agree with consistent small amounts of progress add up.

    Great advice! I also schedule margin days and use Homeschool Planet. Another thing that has helped my family is writing a homeschool mission statement with my husband. Referring to it helps remind us why we're homeschooling, and helps when we need to make decisions. Do you buy the pre-made lesson plans on HP or make your own? I've bought quite a few! I wonder if they're too detailed; they itemize every little thing to be done in a lesson when it could just as easily read, "Lesson 4." I also wonder if I'm spending too much money on them. But I do like having a "record" of what topics they learned, not just lesson numbers.
