I sure miss Waylon. In my younger days, I too had a country band as lead singer and guitarist. I played a lot of Waylon's tunes, Hank Sr's, George Jones, Merle;s, Johnny Cash, etc. I am 73 now and can't believe how much I miss this guys. Love the sound of Waylon's 4/4 timing on this ole Hank Sr 3/4 timing hit.
This song was on my brothers cassette every time I go to his place have few beers I played this over and over.I lost my brother a year yesterday 2020 nov 23.Oh I how I miss him.RIp Fraser 🇨🇦❤️
Whenever I used to play this, my African Gray parrot loved it and at the very last when Moony plays the steel guitar, he'd go nuts. Couldn't get enough of it.
Talk about lifelong love. Over fifty years ago I was lucky enough to experience celestial love that only exists in fairy tales. Things happened and run out of hands and I could do nothing about it. The world turned stark black. I left all my composing of music which was inspired by her behind me left the stages and hit the bottle to some extent for a number of years. Fate had it that I after some strugglesome years I met an ideal wife and now , at 77, I live happily with four children an seven grandchildren. But till the day I die I go back to those years, daytim e, nighttime, anytime. And I call back the years. Minute by minute as long as far back as I can remember. It does ’t matter where or when. ”Cause I can’t get her out of my mind, When I cry I’m just wasti ’n my time” as one of Hanks other songs goes.
Name of this show was " In The Hank Williams Tradition". Came out early or mid '90's on PBS. I taped the show but didn't get the date. It was an outdoor show, you can see the insects, I searched on all his outdoor shows but couldn't find this show. He did a great job on this song. Read or heard the girl singing with him was his daughter, can't confirm. Just found out the girl singing with him is his stepdaughter, Jessi Colters daughter.
Where's the rest of this concert!! Was this like a Hank Williams tribute show or something? I know Waylon did this on the Dreaming My Dreams album, but him talking about Audrey Williams in the middle made me wonder?

Waylon Jennings was a very good singer and I miss him so.

Waylon does a great job of singing but i think what really makes the song is the fantastic job on the steel guitar by Ralph Mooney

Lyrics
Darling let's turn back my years
And go back to yesterday
Let's pretend that time has stopped
And I didn't go away.
We had our love to make us happy
It wasn't meant to bring us tears
Love like ours should never die
So darling, let's turn back the years.
We had our love to make us happy
It wasn't meant to bring us tears
Love like ours should never die
So darling, let's turn back the years.
Darling let's turn back my years
And go back to yesterday
Let's pretend that time has stopped
And I didn't go away.
Darling let's turn back my years
And go back to yesterday
Let's pretend that time has stopped
And I didn't go away.
