I watched Gilmore girls first and then watched supernatural- it took me so long to get my head around the fact Dean was Sam and Sam was dean because in Gilmore girls he is Dean.
I love how much GG gets referenced. I also love how many guys admit they love the show too. I grew up with a single mom and its something we watched together because she controlled the only tv remote. I never felt weird for liking it as a guy, but i definitely didn’t go around telling people I love the show so much I binge it when I’m sad. My mom and Grandma would always argue like they do on the show, while I was the Rory sitting there awkwardly, which is why I love the show. It always makes me miss my Grandma and feel nostalgia for my childhood. It is the ultimate comfort show, even more than cheers, which was another huge comfort show for me.
I am a guy and have been fond of the show ever since it started being broadcast here in France. I got the whole show on DVD and binge it at least once a year. I love it cause it's so realistic of family relationships and communication. And I'm not ashamed to tell people I love that show.
I love that one of the things people love to mention is how fast they talk, but I swear my little ADHD brain barely noticed that my first time through the show. Now I notice it of course, but it also kinda just sounds normal.
In sopranos there is an episode where paulie is at his mother's house and he throws a tv out the window with an episode of Gilmore girls playing on the screen, it was pretty heavy handed symbolism actually
And it's funny because in an episode of Gilmore girls they reference the sopranos so WHEN THE GILMORE GIRLS WATCH SOPRANOS DO THEY SEE THEMSELVES ON PAULIES MOMS TV?????????
during the quarentine i started living with my dad (ended up not seeing my mom for a year) and our relationship was really complicated. one night he saw me watching gilmore girls in the living room and said that the show was aired in fox channel every afternoon. we didnt have many things in common to talk about, but now, we like to watch an episode while we're eating dinner or lunch. when i was a kid, i always saw him as a severe, serious person, and now i can think of him more like a kind and good father

This is great, thanks! You missed a scene in Six Feet Under (best show ever) where the mum and daughter watch Gilmore and seem to resent their closeness. It's fun because Peter Krause was the star and now obviously lives with Lauren Graham. Also the Family Guy bits are great because Dan Palledino was actually a producer on both shows and must be affectionately mocking it.
The Mad TV one is great 😅 My brother and Dad were really into Scrubs for a while so I've seen it a lot, when JD says, "I am so mad at Lorelai" I've looked up when that episode of Scrubs aired and what episode of GG it would have been. It probably would have been I'm Okay You're Okay (S6 E17) which aired the same night, but there must have been a break because the episode before aired a month before. That's during the period that Lorelai is bugged about April and putting off the wedding because of her. Idk why JD would be mad at Lorelai during this time unless it is that he is upset that is is not being upfront with Luke.
Also on Summer Camp Island the characters go to "Heartford" and it looks exactly like Stars Hollow. The sign, gazebo, and the fall season specifically.
If you ever do a part 2 there was a reference in the newest Psych movie called "This Is Gus." Gus says his fiance's last name is "Gilmore as in Girls" :)
