I am a Truck Driver and went into several truck stops and drivers and some travelers would infact use the wifi to play Xbox at the truck stop just FYI
Honestly, allowing people to have Game Pass + sideload their Steam libraries might make this the handheld to go to.

The save wifi password feature is useful even if you don't move your xbox, it can be used when you have 2 wifi networks, a 2.4g and a 5g one, and would like to switch between them for any reason
The router switches between them anyway depending on the demand and type of device.
@thelastofus2872 nope, the router doesn't, the phone/xbox/device might switch between them if it the signal dropped (like if you were connected to the 5g and it was a bit away as its range is less than the 2.4g) but you will need to have the password saved for both and configs set/defaulted to connect automatically

Anyway I said the router is what switches first, it will switch lots of times actually and it's a problem for some ppl who only want to use the 5ghz, you have to disable the 2.5, it's no good having a device that switches if the router isn't on the same frequency. The router password remains the same regardless of the band it uses. Least mine does.
@thelastofus2872 you're confusing 2 things: the frequency (2.4ghz or 5ghz), and that's for your device a completely different network with a diff protocol and password, selection for that depends on signal strength and your device's configuration, and there's the channel, that's controlled by the router, it can be auto and your router would switch beyween channels, or you can choose a specific channel and it will stay on that)

Honest benefit to the saved networks is when my internet drops it has my hotspot saved or if my wire falls out then it automatically trys to connect to others that helps
For people who don't understand the difference between an Xbox Channel & a Sony hate channel, this is an Xbox channel, compared to channels where half or more of their "news" is bashing Sony. Now you know.

I'm a truck driver, I use a couple phones and a hotspot only cell device to game and use all my other tech stuff. I always wondered why my boxes were set to not save wifi passwords. It can get annoying on the road when you leave one networks coverage and have to re-enter a long ass gibberish password.
You can edit those passwords to something user friendly, even on cell phones. Not like your neighbor is going to figure it out when you have different neighbors at each truck stop/rest area.

It would be cool if you could connect the hadheald to a deck that is a eGPU so thats your actual fixed and powerful Xbox. That would be awesome.
Multiple WiFi is not just for travelling. I use my phone as hotspot via 5g as it’s quicker to download big games, but would love to use my home internet as my default for basic stuff. So necessary feature.

48 y.o here. I work out of town weekly 3-4 nights a week. I travel with my X1X, XSX stays home. The hotels i stay at make it easy to connect. That password save feature is a long time coming. However, it does not affect me. Thanks, Ray.
This wifi update would be perfect for my son, who brings his Xbox back and forth from his mother's house to mine.

Remember wifi password has been working about a year now. I have a series X that I run on a wifi hotspot and it started remembering and auto connecting on its own. It was great. I would take it home occasionally for big updates then back to the remote location and now I don't have to reenter any passwords.
Can we finally get rid of all this "Xbox is going away" , "xbox is going full multiplat", "Xbox is ditching hardware" nonsense. It's been said for years and yet is has still survived.
And if "uncle Philly" says they're not stopping, they're not stopping.
This is the EXACT same thing as with the Nintendo Switch 2 / Switch Pro rumors. We've seen the "it's coming next year!" shit every year for like 4 years now. Stop predicting stuff you have absolutely zero knowledge and concrete proof of.

Nothing EVER came of those rumors and at this point I haven’t even kept up with anything Nintendo related. I’ve been too busy enjoying my series X 😌 it’s incredible!

I bought my Series X last Christmas even tho' I had a 1400€ gaming PC, but the XSX just has a certain charm to it. I absolutely love Quick Resume and how great the backwards compatibility is on that thing.
I got mine for 440€ (incl. taxes) and it was an absolute steal. In comparison my computer's GPU costs almost that much lol. Impressive.
More so They're taking their time working on that kind of project I've seen Alot of things like some games you can only get on cloud and not downloadable... Things like that just scare me into believing we truly are reaching those Years to come Many are false predicting them now because they have no idea when Microsoft will have them ready but trust me Microsoft will have that idea ready eventually And when they do We will all feel Worried about our Multiple Thousands of dollars worth of consoles sitting around since we were FXCKING 4 or whatever and see that We Waited so long for the day We thought would never come Like predicting these next 10 years if we will even live that long due to all this Russia and sleepy Joe crap and the government helping him win in a cheat case so real life can end up Like call of duty Blackops II Story next year corrupt People running the Shxt show much like Gaming Publishers like Activision Butt Fxcking Alot of console players and giving PC players Head while They Manipulate our wallets every year just to be blinded by a flashbang from a Guy running around in a FXCKING Barney outfit That he paid 20$ for and comes with Rainbows to support RGB BBQ or whatever it is. 💀
I think that would be a first is to have a handheld that has a Monthly Subscription Service of Games like “Game Pass”. I mean STEAM has games but you have to buy them individually. They don’t have a monthly fee where you can play all their games like “GAME PASS” that’s what would make an Xbox handheld different than a Steam Deck.

Multiple WiFi network memory is great cos Series S is perfectly portable. Not as an actual portable, but still fits in my little backpack :D

I'm 36 and I take my Xbox with me on business trips and yes it's annoying to always have to sign back into my wifi why the "world's most powerful console," can't do something a smart phone can do for over a decade on top of that the issue with finding your hidden network it's ridiculous and this update is way too overdue it's sad really

I take my xbox with me to my friends when we drink and play all day. Once every couple weeks. This is super useful for me now, but look forward to a handheld for sure
About bloody damn time, I've gone to friends' houses many many MANY times and still do, and every time I go to a friend's house or back to my own place, I have to type in their and my wifi/internet passwords to my Xbox every God dang time, it's so very annoying. I didn't know why Xbox couldn't remember wifi passwords, but Playstation can.
Hey Ray! I'm with you when it comes to taking my Xbox to someone's house. Last time I took a console on the road was 20 years ago when I went on a group vacation with friends and that was a PS2.

I could see Microsoft and Windows making a Mobile Device for game pass that looks like a steam deck but works more like one of those surface tablets.
I take mine with me to my friends house sometimes. As have him my old series s after got my series X. And sometimes we plan games that’s on mine and not his or that I have disk version. So only way to play together is on mine.

Remembering Wi-Fi passwords makes it easier to quickly swing by the registered home networks for your shared streaming services. 😂

53 and I game morning, noon and night. I almost got a steam deck, and would 10/10 buy an Xbox handheld.
I take my console to work. It’s a long story, but as a tour guide I can do whatever I want if not on tour. So take my Xbox, then go home and play. Constantly putting the WiFi passwords for two places each time.
My series x has been gathering dust and i haven't bothered paying for game pass for a few months now im fed up playing the same games . Im going to switch it back on for jedi survivor tomorrow.

I guess I consider myself lucky. I don't need a handheld gaming system, because I like to game at home in my massive home theater. If i run errands, I'm focused on getting those done, not loitering around in a public place. All that said, I am extremely excited and looking forward to upgrading my 2016 65" Samsung 4K tv to the new 2024 85" Samsung QN90D this year.
Playing a handheld as an adult is weirder to me than take your whole system to another person like back in the day? Like, when is that ever necessary since a lot of stuff can be played over the cloud on pc at work and such.

I want an Xbox Handheld console that can handle all the games like Call of Duty, GTA 6 when it comes out, the new Assassins Creed (Code name Red) etc. i do not want a cloud console or a console like the Switch that cant handle the big boy games.
Although im not sure how they could handle the storage options because we would need at least a 1TB ssd to do that and thats already not enough

It would be extreamly awesome if it was a two player game , but i guess the powers would ultimately crash the game due to two players doing their powers at the same time.

Eventually the exclusivity wall for every platform will break and crumble to the ground. I was hyped for Starfield but when I heard 30fps it kind of killed it for me I will definitely check it out when the update comes along.
Recently bought a legion levono go and I love it so for me the walls of exclusivity have been broken down. So many good games on playstation that I can now play on steam.
Sony won't last to much longer keeping everything exclusive. They have shown that by letting certain exclusives on pc. The exclusivity strategy is outdated.
If xbox is handing over exclusives "supposedly" in the future, is ps going to be doing the same?
Not only would the new feature be great for an Xbox handheld I believe it would also be used for an Xbox streaming stick device ( Keystone ) fingers crossed they are still working on this device for Cloud gamers!
My series X is slow at connecting to my internet. Hopefully that gets fixed.

It’s really funny that Microsoft themselves make an idea to remember your Wi-Fi password for your Xbox, but why not maybe a take a game save from your Xbox one and transfer it to maybe your computer for whatever reason like for example your Minecraft worlds I would love to transfer that, but you can’t unfortunately and I actually I understand the realm but however, when your Xbox account is banned permanently you can’t get your other worlds back anyway, Microsoft should give everyone a chance when someone gets banned permanently and it should be a year ban
I honestly can’t wait for a Xbox handheld. I have the G cloud I hacked my PlayStation portal so I can log into my Xbox account and stream Xbox games and a lot of other stuff. My Nintendo switch can play Xbox games too, but the only problem is the PlayStation portal and the Nintendo switch, don’t run the best

I think three years games should not be allowed to be exclusive anymore. I think they should be on everything after three years. Don’t care if it’s a franchise or what whoever owns it don’t care if it’s PlayStation don’t care if it’s Xbox I think after three years, they should be on both consoles and PC. Dude I don't understand why you'd take your Xbox anywhere this day in ages. If I want to play somewhere else I take an Xbox controller and my phone there's no need for anything else. Controller connects to phone - phone mirror to TV - Xbox app streams the game.
The only reason they'd allow Xbox exclusive games to go to playstation is because they'll be getting playstation exclusive games in exchange

I mean personally it’s a good idea to be multi consult but if all these games are gonna go over to PlayStation for sure, but what are we gonna get from PlayStation? I will be an Xbox gamer for life. I even dabble in the Nintendo stuff only specifically mostly for Pokémonand I like my PlayStation games like God of war but seriously what are we gonna get from PlayStation for all these games over?

The Wi-Fi memory is a bit weak of an update. I mean really, how long does it really take anybody to just put in a dang password? I would much more rather see more significant updates and upgrades. Now, this is only my opinion, but this seems like a real far reach to bring something new. Everyone that I know personally, never takes their system on the go. I may be wrong and there is a very good chance of it, but I think far more people leave their system in one place then take it on the go. I'm sure some will celebrate this Wi-Fi deal, but for myself it is nothing spectacular enough to try to plan a parade in celebration.
