Kieran Stark Same! I don't see cgi as an improvement, I see it as something different. Both hand drawn and cgi are two completely different arts. Hand drawn is practically dead now and cgi is way past overused at this point. I would have loved to see a hand drawn Zootopia or something.
After I learned about Judith Barsi's murder, I could no longer watch the ending to this movie, it is now way too painful to watch. I would feel sick and cry.
Ever sadder was the lack of justice in a pater-familicide like that - not only did Mr Barsi take his own life, but he was genuinely mentally ill by the sounds of it; Judith's success made him paranoid that his wife and daughter would leave him (a blue-collar worker) in the success, and he became violent and possessive, maybe even deluded. It's no excuse for his actions by any means, but it shows that there wasn't an easy target to blame unequivocally - even if he hadn't offed himself. Judith Barsi was probably as close to an angel as you could find in real life - sweet and upbeat, optimistic, and magnificent in her acting ability. Had the world not been robbed of her light and talent... just imagine; of course, it's even worse that she was robbed of her chance to see more of the world. :-(
I thought I was the only one! Plus, I bet Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise, and Judith are reunited in heaven and Judith's co-stars are telling her stories of their acting life.
There is a reason for the tommy gun being turned into a ray gun. Due to the circumstances of Judith Barsi's death not too long after she finished her lines, that being her father shooting her while she was sleeping, it would have made the scene in question immensely uncomfortable to watch so they needed to edit it.
Call me crazy, but despite TLM beating ADGtH, I actually think Charlie is a better hero than Ariel. Both characters are quite selfish, but Charlie actually becomes a better person, and does something heroic to deserve his reward. Ariel, on the other hand, just gets rewarded for no reason. She wants that prince, and she gets him. No development or character growth whatsoever.
Alec Foisy THANK YOU! Everyone is like 'Oh but Ariel had this dream of going on land before she met Eric and wants to break free from her Life of Royalty and she's just a teenager she didn't know better!' Um NO I'm not buying that. Even teens get disciplined and grounded when they go as far as Ariel does (eg rebelling and selling her soul to 'the devil' and putting the ocean in danger because of her hormonal desire for a hot guy) NOT REWARDED. Plus she did jack s*** in the climax to earn her reward and make up for what she did throughout the entire movie. Yes she apologises to her father, but goes back to mooning over Eric as if she didn't learn anything. Plus her flaws (eg her rebelliousness) are played off as 'cute and endearing' which kinda bugs me. Charlie may have been as selfish jerk in his film, but at least, like you said, did become a better person and his bad deeds weren't played of as 'cute or endearing'. And he to me is one of the better 'jerk with a heart of gold' type characters out there. *sigh* while the Little Mermaid had some good songs, I had a feeling those critics were too enamoured with the shoddy love story and the way Ariel was drawn, plus the scenes where Ursula turns her human if you know what I mean (which is PRETTY UNSETTLING considering she's only 16)
Everyone gushes over how active she is compared to the previous princesses, but I don't think it counts, since she's only active for her OWN sake. The only unselfish heroic act she ever does in the whole film is when she saves Prince Handsome McBlandpants during the climax (the first time she saved him doesn't count, since she didn't know him and only helped him because he was a human). Even the comic reliefs accomplish more than her!
Alec Foisy I could forgive Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora for being passive as their films were made in the 1930s- 1950s, but while they were the almost submissive type, they, they are at least somewhat more likable. Ariel may have been more active than them, like you said she is only active because of her own selfish wants. Now, I don't mind if a selfish, maybe mean character, especially when they undergo changes like Charlie and even Kuzco, but if it's some brat Mary Sue (a sue who's 'flaws' are written of as cute and endearing) like Ariel I don't buy it.
This is one of my fave animated films. Growing up in the 90s, it was one of those upbeat, high energy flicks that wasn't afraid of delving into deeper, darker themes. Looking back, I'd say it's one of the films that opened my eyes to the realities of sentimentality and mortality.
For a moment or more, I thought you were gonna bring up the actresses' death for the rest of the video. Thank you for not doing so. That Hell scene from All Dogs go to Heaven traumatized me and my sister when we were kids I’m like “I didn’t know animation could be this horrific to watch😨”
*ElectricDragon505* I remembered watching this with my sister when we were kids but as adults we still love it my favorite character is Charlie, Itchy, & Anne Marie❤ I still remembered when at the last part of the movie where Judith Barsi says her last words before her death from her own father from the abuse, Burt Reynolds actually broke down in tears when Judith Barsi said her final words while reading the script
All Dogs Go to Heaven still stubbornly refuses to leave my contending spot for Top Animated Film of All Time alongside The Lion King. it has a lot of flaws compared to many, many other animated films, including most Disney films and, obviously, stuff like Hayao Miyazaki's work, but there is something special about how well Burt Reynolds portrays a sleazy mean-spirited gambler who learns to love and give up a life of crime for the sake of a child. It's a literal redemption story, and one with such a great memorable cast. No other animated film had me literally fighting back tears during its denouement and ending when I saw it for the first time.

If anyone complains about a musical number in a Disney movie show them:"let me be surprised"the musical numbers are largely considered by the general public like shaky cam a distraction from shortcoming but using it in The Story for another character? Brilliant!
I love this movie when I was a little girl, everything it was I admired. If I go back and watch this as an adult, I’ll be brought to tears. Yeah, I like going back to old movies that I’d watched as a kid to see if I still enjoy them, or if I had become to hate it. Fun Fact: Judy Barsi was murdered by her father before the movie was finished, so she couldn’t even see the success the movie would become. R.I.P Judy Barsi You will be missed, little girl. Also I know it’s Hercules as soon as I heard The Gospel Truth.
it was ok, but tragedy for the voice actress Judith Barsi who was murdered by her own father. RIP, they dedicated the whole movie to her after her sad death. May she rest in peace
Each time I see this movie I keep wishing Judith Barsi had the happy ending Ann Marie had: escaped from cruelty and adopted into a better life (possibly with a better family).
I like Charlie, he may not be as great character like Daddy Duck or Kuzco from the Emperor's New Groove. He is a lot better amd likable character than Margo from Paper Towns, Alec Baldwin baby, Robin, Beast Boy and Cyborg from TTG, and Oscar from Shark Tale.
Really? Because Charlie pissed me off when it comes to him being mean to Itchy and Anne Marie. After all, he did use her for his own selfish advantages. He's like turning into Carface.
I honestly see this movie as a deep spiritual allegory. You see the beginning with the world riddled in sin. Drinking, gambling, Straight up murder when Carface chooses to off his partner Charlie. Then we see Charlie in "Heaven" and it is established that he (as well as all dogs) get a free ticket into Doggy Heaven because dogs are good and loyal and kind....but then we literally see Charlie's fall from grace when he chooses the metaphorical apple (i.e. the watch that represents his life). He takes the metaphorical apple and the angel dog tells him he can never come back into grace and for the rest of the movie we see Charlie struggle with the impending darkness. However, all hope is not lost for Charlie because he seeks redemption....I believe that Charlie's desire to save Anne-Marie from his villainous partner had an underlying motive. He sought to redeem his soul by saving her. And in the end, that's precisely what happens. Charlie is faced with a choice in the end.....does he save his precious life watch or does he save Anne-Marie. He chooses Anne-Marie and in so doing, his soul is restored and he is able to find peace from the darkness.
I hope more lost works of Don Bluth will be found and recovered because his work was very good when I was growing up I wish he'd didn't had those hard time during the late 1980's-1990's and earily 2000's he would been good as Walt Disney or and other Animators but he went through some hard times when it came to money I would doubt he would of wanted to work for Dreamwork because they weren't doing so well with 2d animation and they would switch to 3d animation it kind of sad that we don't see any new 2d movies anymore it would be nice to see a 2d movie once in awhile and not have 3d all the time. I get that 3d is fascinating in Movies but sometimes they get used too many times and you don't get enough time to take a break from them it would be nice to see a 2d movie for once just to take a break from 3d.
@infinityrose92 The reason why he left Disney is because Disney wasn't doing well in the 70's. The reason why Land of before Time competing with Oliver and company makes since is because Disney wasn't completely ready yet. Don Bluth should have realized that Disney wouldn't stay mediocre.
Spongey444 I don't know, I just like to look at the comments whenever I watch a video on RUclips, but still, you should've put your comment as a spoiler.
To be honest, you should really expect someone to talk about the ratings in the comment section. Normally, people watch the whole video, then start putting their thoughts about the video itself. Whatever you need to say in the middle of seeing a video can wait till the video is done.
The death of Judith Barsi is actually THE REASON WHY I CAN'T STAND THIS MOVIE! When I was watching this as part of my Don Bluth research, all I could think about was Judith Barsi. How she should not have been assassinated by her own father. No child should ever die young; all children should live to be at least 46 years old. But because Judith Barsi died a child, everything good about All Dogs Go to Heaven felt entirely wasted on a tragedy. Yes I was aware of the competition with the Little Mermaid, and how this was Don Bluth's last good movie before he spiraled into bad projects, but those facts mean nothing to the death of Judith Barsi. I swear to God, now that I have watched this as part of my Don Bluth research I hope I will never see this movie again. Maybe I will want to se the sequel, but that's going to be because that movie's child actor Adam Wylie is still alive today. The whole reason i cannot stand All Dogs 1 is all because of the death of Judith Barsi. But I don't mind her being in The Land Before Time, not only does The Land Before Time give me happy memories of the Sequels, but it also has some child actors who lived to see their adulthood.
I loved this movie as a kid! I still do to this day. I would love to see your review of the Powerpuff Girls Movie (the good old one from...2002 I think???)
I seen the sequel to this as well, and I must say, this might of been the biggest part of my childhood by a long shot. It shows my interest in animals, and it does show a lot of development to a character. The thing about this movie when I watched it as a kid was I thought that it was kinda.... dark for me to be watching at such a young age. I mean like, the dogs are at a bar, they are drinking and gambling, then the one dog I can't remember his name, ran over Charlie just to get rid of him for some reason I can't remember either, with a car. That is kinda a dark theme that the movie was going on. but either than that, it was still a good movie nonetheless.
The Little Mermaid, which was released at the same time, is what caused animated musicals to start having songs that actually benefit and add to the story instead of just being there to sound pretty or to be fun for kids. This change of direction was a huge contributor to why the Disney Renaissance happened and the difference between All Dogs and Little Mermaid really shows how having songs that are integral to the story makes a huge difference in overall quality and emotional impact of these movies.

That demonic Dog still haunts me. Also, the scene in which Charlie says goodbye to Ann Marie still makes me tear up. Sure it's flawed but I really like this movie!
Same. Every time I see the hell scene, especially now that I’m older and have a bigger understanding about faith, I just fast forward through that scene.

Oh, sweet!! The next film you're reviewing was the first film I saw in theaters!! Got me a nice connection to this next one.
What were your thoughts on Hades when you saw it in theaters?!!
This is one of my top favorite childhood movies.
Me too

Oh, he's going to review Pinocchio.
"And then along came Zeus!"
Aw... but that's also good too.
Please review The Brave Little Toaster! :)
oh you can't keep a good mat down
Wow, is that the first 7.5 since Winnie the Pooh 2011?
Spongey444 Never mind, I guess I don't have to watch the whole review, you should've put that comment as a spoiler, Spongy!
Club Dog why are you reading the comments before watching the video?
Spongey444 I don't know, I just like to look at the comments whenever I watch a video on RUclips, but still, you should've put your comment as a spoiler.
To be honest, you should really expect someone to talk about the ratings in the comment section. Normally, people watch the whole video, then start putting their thoughts about the video itself. Whatever you need to say in the middle of seeing a video can wait till the video is done.
Sponger444 Spoilers!!!
Gosh, not only do I adore this movie but I also truly love Anne-Marie so much!
What about Charlie
@@ChelseatheCreativeFox-pc2xz I like too quite much.
@@Joshua_Quinzel_Isley his character development wasn't done very well, you know.
@@ChelseatheCreativeFox-pc2xz that may be true, right.
I love Ann Marie. She's like a younger, more adventurous version of Snow White.
A more likable character than Adam Sandler.
WEELP
9:05 *BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT😂😂😂❤*
R.I.P. Judith Barsi
I'm gonna go on a wild limb, and say that the next one is Disney's Hercules.
I love this movie and it still is one of my favorite movie.
My favorite character has always been Charlie.
Because he's interesting
Hercules is next. It's one of my mum's favourite Disney movies.
First time in a while we've seen a .5 rating for your reviews.
Story - 8.5
Animation - 10
Characters - 9

Overall = 8.3/10
story 7

Overall 1000000000000000000/10
Didn't you give it a 9 in your other comment?
Most of the voice cast...in cartoon heaven.
You should review All Dogs Go To Heaven 2, just so any of us can hear your thoughts on that sequel!
He did
@@jar1543 I know! I only said that when he first reviewed this one, just in case he wasn’t going to originally.
“You can’t keep a good dog down”
Well you can *put them down*

Wat?

That demonic Dog still haunts me. Also, the scene in which Charlie says goodbye to Ann Marie still makes me tear up. Sure it's flawed but I really like this movie!
Same. Every time I see the hell scene, especially now that I’m older and have a bigger understanding about faith, I just fast forward through that scene.
Next is Hercules
"HONEY! YOU MEAN HUNKULES?!? WOO-HOO I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE SWEET MUSIC WITH HIS--"
I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like that movie
Pedro Wafflecone I actually like Hercules and find it to be another of Disney's underrated animated films
Disappointing
I've seen some others on TheTopTens who agree with you, actually.
The original big-lipped alligator moment
Dang man, I was just thinking about this movie, and you upload a video about it... Good timing
Oh great, The big lipped alligator moment. -Nostalgia Critic.
RIP Burt Reynolds ✊
The Bandit suggested the Disney version of Hercules? That's going to be interesting...

The song, you can’t keep a good dog down has a nice beat to it
