@@LoudHouseCritic2018 Despite his mixed feelings about the film, Home on the Range co-director John Sanford did not like Doug Walker's Disneycember review of the film, seeing it as obnoxious and taking umbrage at the review calling the film a half-assed, uncreative effort said that if he ever saw Doug, he’d “beat the ever loving shit” out of him. I just noticed something I don’t think anyone else has about the part where human Edmond is walking on the fence. When he kicks his legs in the air, you can catch a very brief moment where the edge of his leg is blurred and where it’s pretty obvious it was a green screen and it happens again as the fence door swings away from the audience with it being his entire body. The rest of the characters are still smooth looking but Edmond just becomes a blob for half a second
This was a long time coming. It was worth the wait and I really wanted to hear your thoughts on it at least it isn't as bad as "A Troll in Central Park"
My thoughts on "Rock-A-Doodle" and "A Troll in Central Park" are the opposite of yours, Animat. The former may be a complete mess in its story, but in a way, I find it kind of fascinating how so many different plot points/scenes could be strung together for a movie like this. The latter, however, was mostly boring and overly saccharine, especially when a good chunk of the film was just filler. Granted, I also used to watch "Rock-A-Doodle" quite often as a kid, so maybe that's why I still like it to some extent. But if it makes you feel any better, Marzgurl also thought "Rock-A-Doodle" was Bluth's worst film. I'm not sure if it's still up online, but if it is, I recommend checking out her review of that movie. HOLY COW! You're reviewing that... that... thing with... the... rapping shark... next? Best of luck, man.

Not my guilty pleasure. Just plain pleasure. A mild-to-moderate one, but a pleasure nonetheless. RIP Phil Harris (Patou), Sorrell Booke (Pinky), Charles Nelson Reilly (Hunch), and Glen Campbell (Chanticleer).
Phil Harris as Patou, a Basset Hound who is a good friend to both Chanticleer and Edmond, and plays the narrator character of the story. He despises the Grand Duke and is dedicated to Edmond's cause to bring Chanticleer back home. He is brave and reasonable, but somewhat temperamental. His endeavour to find Chanticleer is hampered by the fact that he does not know how to tie his shoes (which he wears because of bunions). However, in the end, he finally figures out how to tie them right, after Edmond teaches him. This would be Harris's final acting role; he died four years after its release, aged 91.
if they dropped the live action and most of the secondary animal characters that we follow most of this movie, it would have been a much stronger movie. yeah it would be a simple story still but having Chanteclair as the main character and still keep his backstory. together with Goldie and Grand Duke with only tiny changes to their characters and design, the story would have taken a darker turn for the better and still keep the Elvis-styled music. I wonder if this was the main story to Don before it was forcefully changed to be for smaller kids.
Rock-a-Doodle was going to be released by MGM-Pathe but the studio is having financial problems so Don Bluth rescheduled it and choose Samuel Goldwyn Pictures as the distributor as the movie got delayed until April 3,1992 to avoid competing with Beauty and The Beast and An American Tale 2: Fievel goes West which Bluth himself wasn't involved. I really hated the fact that the Owls wanted a bad storm because they hated Sunlight. Owls are Night Birds not Vampires as they needed the sun to sleep. This Movie has laid an egg.
When I first watched this movie I didn't like it at all. Three years after that I watched it again and found myself enjoying it. I actually placed in order for the DVD to get shipped in. I know Don Bluth had made better films and I know Rock-A-Doodle isn't the best animated film, but it is far from being that bad.

I think they put an 8 year old in charge of the script and just forced the animators and voice actors to make a movie out of everything the 8 year old came up with.
Sentient toys, talking dolphins, dogs making out, rats wanting an immortality potion for world domination, and asylums for rats. Oh, hell, the last one is most comprehensible out of all of them.
You forgot to mention that Chanticleer was voiced by Glen Campbell. That was a major selling point of this film.
Hears next review: COME ON!!!! Give him a break already!!!!
NOOOOOOOOO. YOU HAVE FINALLY COME TO THE DARK CORNER ANIMATED FILMS IN ANIMAT CLASSIC REVIEWS
Edmond is basically Fievel as a kitten.
I think I would call Rock-A-Doodle "abrasively mediocre."
You are so much better than Nostaglia Critic (Doug walker)!!
He says "I'M ALL FURRY". Furry wasn't a freaking noun back then OP
@@THEGREATMAX Thank God someone knows what he really said. And I knew that's what that kid said
Nostalgia Critic made my ears bleed.
This guy seems calmer.
@@nicholasdruce5346 And he researches alot better than Nostaglia Critic. And plus he has better taste

Despite his mixed feelings about the film, Home on the Range co-director John Sanford did not like Doug Walker's Disneycember review of the film, seeing it as obnoxious and taking umbrage at the review calling the film a half-assed, uncreative effort said that if he ever saw Doug, he’d “beat the ever loving shit” out of him. Co-director Will Finn, while nowhere as vocal about it as Sanford, likewise disliked the review.
"Yes, I love it when people live stream Home on the Range and tweet comments. Good or bad, it’s fun. Except you, Nostalgia Critic. You can go fuck yourself you unfunny douche nozzle. My issue was the incredibly abrasive tone of his reviews, and in particular, when he accused the crew of Ho TR of “laziness”. You can say what you want about the movie, it’s deeply flawed, but our crew was anything but lazy. I won’t stand for that."
Review Land Before Time !
I owned this vhs tape. Watched it tons of times. It’s just a good film.
I want to say people need watch Bluths bad movies with pot. Trust me A Troll in Central Park is amazing when you're high.
You know how most people have that one movie that they swear it was a dream from their childhood? For me, this was that movie.
I agree with you, Mat this was a pain to sit through.
As for the next review: ABANDON SHIP!!!
Just when you thought you couldn't sink any lower than the Titanic the first go around!
That last ‘Immaferwy’ was HILARIOUS!
I found out about this movie from nostalgia critic but I gotta admit that opening song was catchy
I agree with you wholeheartedly! ^_^
And now Christopher Plummer (The Grand Duke of Owls)
RIP Christopher Plummer
You've not seen nothing yet. A Troll in Central Park was PAINFUL!
0:01 *Electricdragon505 had to do that😂😂😂😂😂*
12:18 Nope. Let me just take a washcloth and clean that off. >B(
I would disagree about this being Don´s worst offering. The troll in the central park is absolutely the worst.
Mission..hlll hlll...ACCOMPLISHED!
😳 One of Don Bluth’s embarrassing movies, next to “A Troll in Central Park”.
That intro was amazing! Thank you.
if they dropped the live action and most of the secondary animal characters that we follow most of this movie, it would have been a much stronger movie. yeah it would be a simple story still but having Chanteclair as the main character and still keep his backstory. together with Goldie and Grand Duke with only tiny changes to their characters and design, the story would have taken a darker turn for the better and still keep the Elvis-styled music. I wonder if this was the main story to Don before it was forcefully changed to be for smaller kids.
Patou was in the original play, keep everyone who was in the original play
RUclips Rewind 2018 has the most dislike video ever
Rock-a-Doodle was going to be released by MGM-Pathe but the studio is having financial problems so Don Bluth rescheduled it and choose Samuel Goldwyn Pictures as the distributor as the movie got delayed until April 3,1992 to avoid competing with Beauty and The Beast and An American Tale 2: Fievel goes West which Bluth himself wasn't involved. I really hated the fact that the Owls wanted a bad storm because they hated Sunlight. Owls are Night Birds not Vampires as they needed the sun to sleep. This Movie has laid an egg.
*dont say he's hot dont say he's hot dont say he's hot*
10:44 A fine example of telling, not showing
Even as a little kid, I felt like the movie wasn't all that great
2:12 BattleToads?!
this movie gave me nightmares backin the day
I love this movie growing up as a kid
Can we just embrace it's cartoon characters & animation and watch & enjoy it with the entire family 🥺
Come on... Give Animat a break.
Well… at least we can buried Tentacolino after the Classic review. Or somehow even destroy every copy.
Give it the ET video game treatment.
You mean like how he destroyed a dvd of Bratz the movie in the top 10 worst films based on a cartoon?
rock a doodle is not the worst
I watched this movie two years ago and... I felt asleep during it, no joking.
I lol’d at the intro, at first I thought he was gonna sing the whole thing on just the intro part
To quote the Nostalgia Critic, “THESE ARE THE GAYEST VILLAINS EVER!!!!!”
i recently made a commentary vid on this movie and I thought I might've been too harsh...until I watched this 💀 I feel justified in my criticism
Even if you could hide the sun everything would not be raining. It would be snowing, freezing cold or dead. Ever seen legend by ridley scott?
18:46 *ROFL😂😂😂*
Absolutely loved the review, AniMat! Also, I thought your singing was good! Don't stop! Lastly, I love hearing the Game Over theme from Sonic 1 and 2!
Just wait until you get to A Troll in Central Park.
Have you reviewed hoodwinked? The original movie?
Giovanni Naranjo no he has not but I think he should.
He hasn't reviewed it, but he did say he loved it when he reviewed the sequel.
slashermaster28 he did say he liked it but he hasn’t reviewed it
Giovanni Naranjo if animat reviews hoodwinked I bet these will be the scores
Story: 7/10
