I personally like the first 3, because it tells a complete story. I agree 1,2,and 3 set up that story perfectly. I personally hate ice age 2 because the characters just argue and fight all the time so it's so unbearable to watch
You know, one of the biggest reasons I stopped enjoying Ice Age after the first two is because they just became two hour joke-a-thons that lacked emotion. That scene with the cave paintings telling Manny's story with no dialogue, Diego almost dying and the baby reuniting with his father were all GREAT scenes that sold the movie for me, why can't they have that stuff in the newer ones? I mean Peaches being born in the third one I'll admit was a sweet moment but I had to sit through an hour and a half of stupidity and bad jokes to get to it.
Alisha Dee I do enjoy the second and third movie, but I like the first one the most. I wish the movies after the original had the nice balance between comedy and drama. I think that the second film was the closest to having some drama in terms of Ellie's flashback to meeting her possum family and I did genuinely feel the seriousness in the flood situation. I think that the third film should have been the final ending to the series since it nicely wrapped up Manny's story arc in terms of getting the family he wanted due to losing them by humans. It was one last adventure and I would have been fine with that. I also don't understand why the timeline became so screwed up later on. The first film had humans in it, but then they suddenly disappear and never make any appearance after the original. 😐
I thought they really tried to give us a Pixar-style sad scene when the mother gave her baby to Manny before she died. That one scene kept the movie from being another 90 minute crap-a-thon made for kids.

In the scene where Manny is remembering his past I really liked that they respected the audience enough to let us put the pieces together about what happened and they didn’t feel the need to spoon feed it to us
If I may be honest, I wouldn't mind a 6th Ice Age film, but only if they go back to their roots with it. If they really look at the first film and pick out the things that made it strong and combined it with the stellar animation they are now capable of, it could make for a great finale for the franchise. However, I doubt that's what they have in mind.

I like 2 and 3, even if not for the same reasons as the first movie, but they had some heartfelt moments. 4 and 5 however was really lacking in it. Peaches wasted her potential by being bland, and 5 was so damn unfunny that even Buck lost his charm.
It's so jarring to go back to the original Ice Age. With all the shitty sequels that pushed toilet humor, pop culture references, and denser and wackier shenanigans; you do forget how emotionally-gripping this film was. It actually had quiet moments, character growth, dark moments, dramatic moments, actual heartbreaking moments...none of which is found in any of the sequels. I'm also fascinated by what Ice Age would have been like as a 2D Don Bluth film...perhaps fan artists can answer this. Or maybe somebody could get in contact with Bluth for a youtube video [like they do with Butch Hartman] and have him draw his interpretation of the characters...
@@georgerobertson7010 he thought ice age 2 was okay, ice age 4 was bad but not bad enough to get the seal of garbage, but ice age 5 was! As of June 30 he hasn't reviewed ice age 3 yet so I don't know his thoughts on that one.

I swear to God everyone comments the same thing and I'm 100% with them, if the sequels had been about the baby growing up and going on more adventures with Manny and the gang then they would probably be much better.
Some time ago a friend of mine wrote a fanfiction in which she told how the baby from this movie would grow up to become Guy from the Croods. It may sound like a dull unneeded theory, but she made it really credible and touching. I love it to this day.
First movie is one of my most favorite nostalgic Christmas films. The sequel isn’t as good, but.....it isn’t bad. Its okay.... the third movie....had a loooooooot of flaws.... I mean there were some moments I like....buuuuut....it’s not as okay as the sequel.....I give the third movie a 5-6. The sequel gets a 6-7. The fourth film SUCKS. The fifth movie SUCKED even more despite its animation
It seems like the sequels forgot that humans exist. And that the characters age. The only one that does age is Manny's daughter, Peaches. The others are stuck in some form of temporal stasis. Years have obviously passed, but humans aren't more prevalent and the characters don't age.

Did anyone notice that the sequels for the most part are connected to the ice cave. In the cave we first see a predatory fish like the ones from Meltdown, The second is a T-Rex for Dawn of the dinosaurs. Third is (sloth evolution) so we see Granny in Continental Drift ad finally a UFO for Collision Course.
Whoa, that was fast! I thought this would be up in a week or so. That said, I enjoy the first Ice Age and consider it the best of the franchise. I love the characters and how they develop throughout the movie, and the moments that try to capture the emotion really work. Part of me is thinking Fantasia is next. Once "it is my favorite movie" was said, I remembered how he listed it as his favorite Disney Animated film.
I heard or read that in the sequel to Ice Age the humans were to return along with the baby which is grown up and she became a hunter like the father. Supposedly if I read it right the story would have been to hunt Manny but the idea was dropped and the humans never made an appearance again in the Ice Age series.
That was a plan for Meltdown (and the baby's a boy btw) but Blue Sky didn't want to use it because it was "too predictable." Honestly that was a huge missed opportunity because I had wanted to see Roshan - the baby - return as early as Meltdown, but that was never to be and I'm still not over it. :/

Yeah, I get that they wanted to give Manny a new family but Manny didn't need a new family since he two new friends, Sid and Diego, He didn't need Ellie nor Crash and Eddie nor even Peaches to get a new family, Sid and Diego are already that, they are like his brothers, You don't have to married and have kids to get a new family.
Wow! That quick?!! I didn't expect that to be released right now?! I do love the first Ice Age and enjoy the first two sequels in my childhood. Anyways I do enjoy your review and can't wait to see your next review Fantasia.
On my list of the ten computer-animated movies I could have liked, Ice Age 1 is at #4. At first, I could not decide between this movie and Dawn of the Dinosaurs, but as I kept thinking, I ultimately decided I liked the first movie better. I suppose it is because of the clever comedy and the baby. I will say right now, the baby is my favorite of those characters. Sid and Scrat are okay as well, but keep in mind it was the baby that started the animals' friendship in the first place. I don't blame the animals for wanting to save the baby, he is cute. As for Dawn of the Dinosaurs, the reason why I considered that movie is because it has dinosaurs. Remember, The Land Before Time is my #1 favorite non-Disney movie because of its dinosaurs. But since that was only one thing in Dawn of the Dinosaurs' favor, I ultimately decided to let the first Ice Age go on my list. And yes, I agree, the humans should have appeared in the sequels. I would especially be happy if the sequels showed the baby growing up from a baby in 1, to a little kid in 2, to a teenager in 3 to a fully-grown adult with his own family in 4.
Sam Feldstein or perhaps another one that's either good or underrated. For the latter, I'm thinking either "The Black Cauldron" or "Atlantis: The Lost Empire".
So true. All I want is the baby back to see what he has become over the years. What if he remembers them? "we won't forget about you". 4 movies later and the kid isn't even mentioned in ANY of them. What the hell
So true! He should've come back but they never did so because they thought it was "too predictable" even thought I think the majority of fans wanted to see an older Roshan finding the herd again.
@@DiegoRedeemedLover I think they owe it to the fanbase tbh to go back to the roots of the franchise. How can it be too predictable when fans have been begging for it for years..
@@sepnyte9422 I don't think that's in the cards though. Blue Sky was closed by Disney earlier this year (April I think) and I doubt Disney would go back to the Original movie and think "Oh we should make a short about the baby returning." If there was a chance for a Roshan reunion with the OG Herd, imo it should've started in Meltdown but instead they veered away from the dramedy tone of IA1 and brought in Ellie and the possums instead. So, I'd still like for Roshan to come back but I really really doubt it's gonna happen... :(
Hello there, Animat. I am Nathaniel Dominic Castellanos, but you can call me NDC for short. I must say, I enjoy most of your review videos. Plus, I once saw Ice Age 1 in theaters back when I was a little kid, and even back then, I loved it. Sure, Blue Sky might have gone downhill via Collision Course, but I nonetheless hope Ferdinand will be able to put Blue Sky back on track. Even though Ferdinand will come out in theaters at pretty much the same day as Star Wars : The Last Jedi, I'm sure will do impressive. And I hope that you could do a review of Ferdinand as soon as possible once it's out in theaters.
It's time I confessed one of my deepest, darkest secrets to y'all. I have a bit of a soft spot for the sequels, except for Collision Course, because that's the only one I haven't seen. Will I ever? Maybe, when it's on TV and there's nothing else to watch.

Blue Sky I love your animation studio and you guys make great work and even Ferdinand looks good but you gotta stop with this franchise. And according to Wikipedia there's no Ice Age 6 in sight just two good original films about Pigeons and Anubis !!
Just to be honest I never cared for the Toy Story franchise but I thought the Rugrats trilogy was good for a Nickelodeon franchise. What's your favorite animated film franchise besides Ice Age ?
Nyanpire The Cat I don't think there's a legitimately bad main series Pokemon game. In terms of anime, besides the third gen and fifth gen anime, I think the Pokemon anime is doing well. Especially Sun and Moon, that season is starting to become my favorite. Yes, even better than the gen 1 anime.

We lost ideas
Daemn Animat, I didn't expect this review to come so quickly, especially since we just had one yesterday. I'm pleasantly surprised.
One thing the sequels lack is heart, emotion, character, humour EVERYTHING THAT MADE THIS ONE AWSOME!!!
Except for 2 and 3
I like 2 and 3, even if not for the same reasons as the first movie, but they had some heartfelt moments. 4 and 5 however was really lacking in it. Peaches wasted her potential by being bland, and 5 was so damn unfunny that even Buck lost his charm.
I honestly really like Ice Age 2 and 3 lol
Same here.
joyunicycle same here i love them all i love movies
Me too. They're the only Ice Age sequels I like.
Me too.
I agree.
The second one seems to be the only one that has the same emotional weight as the first one. Especially with the flashback scene
MrXemnas1992 does animat hate the ice age sequels?
@@georgerobertson7010 he thought ice age 2 was okay, ice age 4 was bad but not bad enough to get the seal of garbage, but ice age 5 was! As of June 30 he hasn't reviewed ice age 3 yet so I don't know his thoughts on that one.
@@Tree_e888 Well, he said that if he ranked all the movies, he said he'd put the third one over the second. I think it was in his Continental Drift video or his Buck Wild video.
I don't care what people say about the animation being a bit dated. This is still easily one of my favorite childhood movies, right alongside Shrek, A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., etc., and I'll watch it till the day I die. MisAnthro Pony said it best in his Ice Age: Collision Course review, "A good story can save bad animation, but good animation cannot save a bad story".
Well said there bro.
And Hoodwinked is a good example
Is it really fair to call this bad animation though? This was being made back in 1999-2001 and was released in 2002.

Sean S this comment deserves more attention
Thank you for this. I don't know if this is all his reviews, but it does let me feel okay with suggesting a movie for the animation hat.
So once again, Thank You!
Sean S this made me cream my jeans
Sean S In the 1\10, you forgot Norm of the North
Dylan Desselle actually i didn't forget norm of the north in which animat actually gave it a 2/10 not 1/10
Ice Age and Finding Nemo are my all time favorite movies. It's such a shame that the Ice Age series had to go so downhill
I actually want to rewatch both films! These films along with Monsters inc, Madagascar and Shark tale were my childhood. Also russian cartoons both soviet and 2000s period
Toy Story 2 and Ice Age and Monsters, Inc. are my favorite movies too.
Instead of continental drift and collision course they should've showed the baby all grown up and having adventures with the other characters
Yeah
I swear to God everyone comments the same thing and I'm 100% with them, if the sequels had been about the baby growing up and going on more adventures with Manny and the gang then they would probably be much better.
You should review Blue Sky's Robots.
Jaylan Hamilton that is so true
Give me big, anime eyes!
I agree. I happen to like Robots; it's on my list of computer-animated movies I like.
Then request him to do it on his Gmail or his Patreon.
I don't think that accurate but robot's Is ( in my opinion ) there best movie to date
Fastest time you have ever uploaded another review after doing one.
Maybe he's been saving the 'Ice Age' review on the shelf for a while since he's been doing these classic reviews
Kameron Biggs I was the one who requested him to review ice age
i know he did it just like that Like speedy gonzales
Ice age. 2002
Story: 9/10
Animation: 7/10
Characters: 10/10
Score: 9/10 (Great)
Some time ago a friend of mine wrote a fanfiction in which she told how the baby from this movie would grow up to become Guy from the Croods. It may sound like a dull unneeded theory, but she made it really credible and touching. I love it to this day.
to me
the first 3 ice age movies were good
the 4th was ok
the 5th was horrible
I honestly The first 2 was the only good ones!
@@kristyblueflamingo7105 you sound entitled.
The fourth one was ok (then again, I have a soft spot for pirates and some of the voice actors), and I literally forgot everything about the 5th film
When I rewatched Ice Age 5 it was really bad
Dude, if Ice Age had been made by Don Bluth, at least in part, it would have been AMAZING!!!! I mean, he was out of his "dark age" by then.
It seems like the sequels forgot that humans exist. And that the characters age. The only one that does age is Manny's daughter, Peaches. The others are stuck in some form of temporal stasis. Years have obviously passed, but humans aren't more prevalent and the characters don't age.
HOLY CRAP THAT WAS FAST!!!!
Melanie Jarvis: Be careful when speaking against the Holy Spirit, repent for the Kingdom of God is nigh don't be indanger of hellfire. Seek Jesus Christ and have eternal life in the kingdom of God forever.
Mark 3:29 28 Truly I tell you, the sons of men will be forgiven all sins and blasphemies, as many as they utter. 29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.”
Child of Christ 754 Let them say what they want! Stupid fundamentalist.
'Cars' Animats Classic Reviews?
Still the best Ice Age film In the franchise.
Luigi Marinus 2 worse than collison course? Like are you sure?
Luigi gaming Funny enough, the fifth movie is worst and this one is the best, what a coincidence.
Umer Shaikh Fair enough, I do like Dawn of the Dinosaurs, that would be my second favourite Ice Age film.
I admittedly liked ice age 3 more than ice age 2 but the first one is still the best no contest
Collision corse is the only useless film in this franchise. First 4 were great
Fantasia is next!
Next time: It's Fantasia Time
On a side note, holy shit that was fast.
The first one is great! It's also hilarious and a classic, it was a great childhood movie!
Wait... Ice Age could've been a hand drawn movie?! Yes please!
Remember the old days of Ice Age when Manny, Sid, Diego and Scrat were the only main characters?
I heard or read that in the sequel to Ice Age the humans were to return along with the baby which is grown up and she became a hunter like the father. Supposedly if I read it right the story would have been to hunt Manny but the idea was dropped and the humans never made an appearance again in the Ice Age series.
If they make an Ice Age 6 they should definitely returned the humans and end the series there
That was a plan for Meltdown (and the baby's a boy btw) but Blue Sky didn't want to use it because it was "too predictable." Honestly that was a huge missed opportunity because I had wanted to see Roshan - the baby - return as early as Meltdown, but that was never to be and I'm still not over it. :/
Holy crap that was fast!
kat_lover368: Be careful when speaking against the Holy Spirit, repent for the Kingdom of God is nigh don't be indanger of hellfire. Seek Jesus Christ and have eternal life in the kingdom of God forever.

Child of Christ 754 No one actually cares
That was random
Child of Christ 754 Wtf?
Don Bluth almost worked on this movie? Now that would have been cool.
My thoughts
1:😀
2:😁
3:😀
4:😕
5:😤
TBH, they should've ended with Ice Age 2 because after that movie, that's when it got weaker than before
To be honest it should of ended in the original ice age cause it looked like it didn’t needed a sequel
Ice age really should have been a standalone movie, although I do enjoy ice age 2 and 3.
Don't worry. Blue sky is done with the sequels. It's official. And first.
Brave Swordblades No, I heard they were considering a 6th film.
Silvia's Reviews I'm waiting for Animat's reaction after hearing that comment
Can't believe Ice Age is 15 years old now, I was 7 when it came out!
Wow! That quick?!! I didn't expect that to be released right now?! I do love the first Ice Age and enjoy the first two sequels in my childhood. Anyways I do enjoy your review and can't wait to see your next review Fantasia.
If the multiverse theory is true (let's not argue about it please), there's a universe where Ice Age was made by Don Bluth. Huh.
My theory is that the Ice Age films take place in a universe that ironically goes backwards in time.
0:57-1:04 my reaction to the Alpha and omega sequels.
2:01 Collision course was foreshadowed from the start... *Grabs Pitchfork*
2:48 I JUST GOT THAT LINE
I remember seeing ice age 3 and 4 at theaters but I never got a chance to see the Fifth one
AniMat's Classic Reviews: Fantasia is coming in July.
It's going to be interesting seeing a review of his favorite movie shortly followed by what will probably be one of his least favorite
Sam Feldstein or perhaps another one that's either good or underrated. For the latter, I'm thinking either "The Black Cauldron" or "Atlantis: The Lost Empire".
Amelia Jones Either it's another Disney sequel or a Don Bluth movie. I would guess either Fox & The Hound ll or Pebble & The Penguin.
Hayden Cullens perhaps it'll be an extended version of his thoughts on it in his top 10 favorite Disney movies.
Amelia Jones It won't be like a regular review. It will be a V-Log review with special effects.
The 1,2 and 3 were the best of the whole franchise. I do wish they could bring the baby back. The baby made the movie lmao.
So true. All I want is the baby back to see what he has become over the years.
What if he remembers them?
"we won't forget about you".
4 movies later and the kid isn't even mentioned in ANY of them. What the hell
@@FritzFoxPirate I know right? That's a movie I'd like to see after the shitshow that is 2020.
There's going to be an Ice Age 6 ! NOOO !
FANTASIA IS THE NEXT ANIMAT'S CLASSIC REVIEW!!!!! YAY!!!!
Two Classic Reviews in the same week...
My life is complete
my thoughts on dis ENTIRE FUCKING *SERIES*
1.😍
2.😀
3.☺️
4.what 4th movie?
5. oh my GOD JUST STAHP!!!
Ice Age 1. Great. 2. Decent. 3. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. 4. Eh, not that great. 5. That's enough.
It's time I confessed one of my deepest, darkest secrets to y'all. I have a bit of a soft spot for the sequels, except for Collision Course, because that's the only one I haven't seen. Will I ever? Maybe, when it's on TV and there's nothing else to watch.
since bluesky won't give up ice age we are all wishing this franchise to go extinct
Rip Blue sky studio
Wow that was quick, it usually takes u about 1 to 2 week but this one was only in a couple of hours+he's reviewing fantasia next
That was the only time Animat released a review that quick
0:57 OH GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! THEY ONLY GET WORSE TO THE POINT OF BEING UNBEARABLE!

RIP Blue Sky.
Aw man this was my childhood!
If they decided to do another Ice Age (which they probably will) I'd love to see the humans again. Someone must agree with me, right!?
Ice Age - Awesome.
Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - Okay.
Ice Age 3: Dawn with the Dinosaurs - Okay.
Ice Age 4: Continental Drift - Terrible.
Ice Age 5: Collision Course - Garbage.
Ice Age. One of my favorite childhood films,
I remember watching Ice Age when it was in the movie theatres many years ago, and still have the VHS tape.
I see it coming: people will ask AniMat to do Ice Age 2 and 3, since he did the first one
Like I said before, I prefer this film over the sequels. Although the 3rd was OK.
Actually, in Ice Age 4, when Diego talks to Shira, he tells her that he chose to leave his own pack, so no, Ice Age 1 DOES fit in with the sequels.
Story: 6/10
Animation: 9/10
Characters: 7/10
Score: 7/10 (Good)
Blue sky is gone
Two HQ Videos In 1 week?!?
What Planet am I on?
Half the animals arent even from the ice age that long neck one for example comes from a dry period the complete opposite of the ice age
grew up with this movie
Well didn't expect this today
ICE AGE 1 is so nostalgic to me and to everyone who grew up with it
I Actually Thought The Other Ice Age Movies Were Good In My Opinion.
I STILL LIKE THE FIRST MOVIE BETTER!!
Dexter The Nostalgia Toonster I liked all except for Collision Course, which I thought was mediocre.
True, But The Others Were Still Perfect.
Think Of Some of Them As A Bunch Of Guilty Pleasure Movies...Movies That People Like But Other People Hate.
If You Don't Believe Me, Check Out Phantom Strider's Top 6 Gulity Pleasure Cartoons.
For me I Love the Ice Age franchise I remember in my childhood that's the only animated film I would ever watch was Ice Age. But the franchise has overstayed its welcome. Ice Age 1: Great Ice Age 2: Good Ice Age 3: Pretty Good Ice Age 4: Decent Ice Age 5: I've only seen the last 25 mins of the movie and I'm going to say it's Alright except for Scrat I think he lost his charm. Blue Sky I love your animation studio and you guys make great work and even Ferdinand looks good but you gotta stop with this franchise. And according to Wikipedia there's no Ice Age 6 in sight just two good original films about Pigeons and Anubis !!
So You Only Seen 4 1/2 Out of Five Of The Ice Age Films?
Well That's Okay.
I bet You Liked The Rugrats Movie Trilogy And The Toy Story Trilogy Too.
Just to be honest I never cared for the Toy Story franchise but I thought the Rugrats trilogy was good for a Nickelodeon franchise. What's your favorite animated film franchise besides Ice Age ?
Fantasia is next. I know because he did say that it's his all time favorite movie.
I wonder if you'll make a classic review of robots soon?
Ice Age is now like The Simpsons & Pokemon, where it used to be good but nowadays it has really overstayed its welcome. Anyone agree?
In Ice Age's case: LONG overstayed it's welcome!!!
I disagree with Pokemon, since I really enjoyed the recent games (Mainly Sun and Moon)
I wonder if they're actually referring to the anime, and not the games.
Pokemon was fine, the bad then fine again
Nyanpire The Cat I don't think there's a legitimately bad main series Pokemon game. In terms of anime, besides the third gen and fifth gen anime, I think the Pokemon anime is doing well. Especially Sun and Moon, that season is starting to become my favorite. Yes, even better than the gen 1 anime.
After the sequels came the humans are became extinct
FAN THEORY: The humans weren't in following films because they weren't marketable.
So maybe this is why the baby is hated because of his strange design.
What are your thoughts on the hate the baby gets?
The baby doesn't deserve to be a meme
in loving memory of blue sky studios
I never expect it to be released that quick today. If he's going to review Fantasia, which is an obvious guess, I predict that it'll have the straight, fuller, 10/10 score like with, Toy Story 3, and Zootopia.
Katie Mealey don't forget Waltz with Bashir, Princess Mononoke, and Inside Out. They got a 10/10 score, too.
But they still had 1 flaw.
I know but each of those have each 1 point away from them.
Mys scores:
Story: 9/10
Animation: 7/10
Characters: 10/10
Total: 9/10 (Great)
This should have been the only ice age movie.
Nah if they kept the kid the movies would still be good
How long till Ice Age 3 review
Well...that was fast
ready for his cars review today? Here's what I think his scores will be:
Story:7/10
Animation:9/10
Charecters:6/10
Overall: 7/10
Ready for Fantasia next Friday? Here's what I think his scores will be:
Story;8/10
Animation: 10/10
Charecters:7/10
Songs:10/10
Overall: 9/10
Or straight 10's because it's his favorite movie!
