Maybe because some people decides to focus on the pop culture references like that one Anime scene. I think it’s a shame since that means they overlook the heart of the film.
@@RobBob6197 that anime scene... hurt me... I like anime but damn that hurt! I will say I did like this film because it stays close to the source material.

We could've gotten a more better version of the Lorax and how the grinch stole Christmas. Blue Sky will always be that one studio that does their homework very well!
For what it's worth, this is the best movie based on a Dr. Seuss movie, honestly. While Jim Carrey was okay as the Grinch, he managed to play as Horton as faithfully kind as an elephant can be while still having some of that Carrey zaniness. That's the thing, a lot of these movies didn't seem to understand the point of the characters. The 2018 version of The Grinch played it too safe, The Lorax was convoluted and The Cat in the Hat was just awful and mean spirited. This film knows just what it needs to be. It understands the message of the original Horton books.
And 12 years later, Warner Bros. Animation and Netflix will collaborate and make an actual great Dr. Seuss adaptation in the form of Green Eggs and Ham 😁.
I know it's aimed for kids, but that show is a guilty pleasure of mine. I originally just watched it because of Daveed Diggs and Keegan Michael Key, but I ended up loving the plot and the characters. It's turned from this 5-minute book of a stranger bursting into someone's home and pressuring him to eat something, into a heartwarming series about friendship. I can't wait for the second season!

That movie irked me for a small reason: you see, Triton has a jail for prisoners. At one point he arrests Sebastian and the Catfish Club (how do I remember the band's name!?), and at the end the villain and her manatee sidekick are arrested. Thing is, one of the band members is a turtle, and as I just said, the manatee guy is then also placed in the cell. Turtles and manatees breathe air, and the cell is under water, with no absolute sign of access to the surface. Realistically, being placed in this cell would be the death penalty for air-breathing prisoners, so WTF, Triton!? Also the manatee didn't even deserve to be arrested and was simply put there cuz he worked for Marina. But he actually never did anything wrong and was rather sweet and cute, and he even tried to talk sense into Marina and was horrified at her plan. But still, the poor guy gets placed in the cell with his boss, where he's doomed to drown. WTF, Disney!? Manatees are endangered!
I used to really like this movie as a kid! I agree that it is the Best Dr. Seuss flick and is very underrated! As for the next review: The Little Mermaid: Ariels Beginning?? I’ve honestly never seen this movie, but I’m sure it’s going to be a mediocre score from animat
Horton Hears a Who! continues to be one my favorite movies of all time. It's surprisingly stays true to the original book while being its own thing. Also, I had a very 'unhealthy' obsession with one of the characters in the film, Vlad Vladikoff when I was a child, and honestly, I still love him now as a young adult. Vlad's eccentric personality, his Russian accent, and just how goofy he is, despite trying to make himself to be a frightening creature, won my heart. He's just so silly, and I love him for it! 😅😅😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
10 films i want Animat to review the most in his classic reviews: 1: The New Gulliver (1935) 2: Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937) 3: Coonskin (1975) 4: The Little Mermaid (1989) 5: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) 6: Shrek (2001) 7: Persepolis (2007) 8: Loving Vincent (2017) 9: The Breadwinner (2017) 10: J'ai perdu mon corps (2019)
Oh yeah, it's about time he plans to rant The Little Mermaid III: Ariel's Beginning. Not just it was so bad that it ended the DTV sequels to the Disney classics forever, but it also ignored all the elements from the animated series.
You know, it's funny how we complain when the animation goes overboard with movement and expressions only for this to both have it and do it right. Maybe it's because of the increased level of detail compared to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. In that film, there's a distracting lack of texture to the character models, and the characters themselves move too unnaturally even for a cartoon. Not only does this movie put in more effort into the models and dial the animation back more, but I do gotta appreciate its use of lighting. And it also works to the movie's benefit on account of it being a Dr. Seuss movie. This is how you do surreal animation correctly.
Congrats! You have two films left that are officially made by Blue Sky, one final Ice Age film, and the movie that gave us Bigweld. Yes, I am aware of the Disney+ knockoffs of a Rio 3 and Ice Age 7, but those are not official Blue Sky.
I personally love this movie! It was my favourite blue sky film, until the peanuts movie came out. Not to mention it’s also my favourite Dr Seuss movie, though the live action Grinch is a close second, (which also happened to star Jim Carrey!) The scene where the who’s have to prove that they are there, can get really intense, I do find myself biting my nails just hoping they’ll prove it in time. That part where Horton gets caged makes my heart sink and I do nearly scream when the clover gets dropped but get a sense of relief when Rudy catches it in time.
Horton hears a Who was good. Netflix's Green Eggs and Ham was amazing! Both of them are still the most charming and enjoyable Dr. Seuss adaptations in recent years.

Have you seen Netflix's "Green Eggs and Ham"? IMO, it's the best Dr. Seuss adaptation EVER. (Yes, even better than the Chuck Jones/Boris Karloff version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".)
After The Little Mermaid:Ariel's Beginning I can't wait to see which film Animat will review next. I really hope that he'll review my movie request of Cats Don't Dance soon enough since I made that request. Also I have to agree with him and say that this probably is the best movie based on a Dr.Seuss book,I like it.
This movie is quite underrated imo, since despite not only being one of the best animated Dr. Seuss films, but one of Blue Sky’s better films, I rarely hear anybody talk about it. Rather than feeling padded out, bloated and artificial like The Lorax did, it truly feels like they expanded this simple book into a big and grand adventure of an elephant who is faithful 100%.
I never truly understood the Kangaroo’s motives. Why is she so up in arms about one animal’s silly belief? If anything, the kids’ll think he was making it up in the future and outgrow it. Why did she get the whole jungle to hunt down Horton and essentially imprison him? Can someone please explain those whole fiasco to me?
because even if the kids did grow out of it, the fact that there is another society scares her because then there is something to compare the ways of the jungle to and theyll start to question her leadership. She uses the excuse of saving the children as a way to save herself. She even admits to it in the end "when the children start to learn about worlds beyond the jungle theyll start to question authority, which leads to defiance, which leads to anarchy"

5:33: I don't know, I think the lighting here feels a bit dull in comparison to what Illumination would bring out. Kinda like seasons 13-18 of Thomas & Friends compared to seasons 19-24.
Next Time: The Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning
You really need to review Robots and Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Fun Fact: This is the ONLY Dr. Seuss theatrical movie that's NOT from Universal.
And also the only Suess movie in Disney's catalog
Next movie review:Little Mermaid Ariel's Beginning.
*BRILLIANT IDEA FOR A REVIEW ANIMAT*!😆😁😉
This was the first film I ever got to see in theatres.
Have you seen Netflix's "Green Eggs and Ham"? IMO, it's the best Dr. Seuss adaptation EVER. (Yes, even better than the Chuck Jones/Boris Karloff version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".)
I truly adore the cartoony style of animated films. I wish everyone would enjoy it too!
I COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT THIS MOVIE EXISTS!!!!!
Yo AniMat, have you seen Netflix's Green Eggs and Ham? Most people consider it the best modern Seuss adaptation, and I can't help but agree with them.
Is it that good?
@@tomhulce852 It has a 100 percent critic score and 92 percent audience score on RT.
@BlackRaptorEx 2469 cool!
@@alecfoisy58 It helps the Dr Seuss's' widow was involved and Bluesky listened to her. The same can not be said for the Lorax sadly.
O’Hare is pure bourgeois and he got what he deserved
As a kid I read the book and then watched the movie either in theaters or on DVD.
I hope Animat reviews Robots soon.
I still believe that Hollywood can't make a good Dr Seuss adaptation, ever.
Interesting, Instead of *Insert movie here* -Animat's Classic Reviews. It's *Insert movie here* -Random line
Compared to it's competition, it could have been much, much worse
Jim Carry has stared in two Dr. Susess movie adaptations, I wonder if he likes the books?
Finally!!! I’ve waiting this review for 3 years
A good Dr. Seuss movie
Thanks
That's how she was in the book
I have two requests for Animat's Classic Reviews: "Shed 17" and "Project G-1". They're both dark origins of Thomas the Tank Engine.
