@@Sorcerer-SMC That’s what happens when working with a major American production company, just look at what happened to Winx Club. Iginio Straffi liked working with Nickelodeon and they chose Nick Jr. writers just to adapt the show to younger audiences. The storyline in the co-produced revival has slowly dipped in quality ever since, possibly due to the pressure that the Executives of Nickelodeon, or should I say, Viacom, put on the writers just to make money. Straffi also lowered the age demographic to adapt to the increasingly younger animation audience.

I actually even remember seeing commercials for this train wreck and even though I had never seen the Magic Roundabout series, even I could tell this was a mess and it was just annoying to hear their voices in the commercials, also the “jokes” and “pop culture references” are very poorly dated that it honestly has me think of the “How do ya do, fellow young kids?” scene over and over again with this American dub of the movie(not saying English because well it already was in English in its original British version) Least Harvey Weinstein is out so maybe animated films will be sparred from his touch as well(though at least Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli showed they were not to be messed with when he was thinking about cutting scenes from the English dub of “Princess Mononoke”, I wonder if he still has that note that says “No Cuts” and the katana that came with it, where basically it was both Ghibli and Miyazaki’s way of saying “Oh, you want to make cuts to the movie? How bout you start by making cuts TO YOURSELF?”) Least GKids and Shout Factory have way more respect for classic and modern foreign animated films and don’t try to make it hip and fresh for the young kids or viewers in general

If you guys wanna see an Americanized dub of a foreign property that’s actually done WELL, I’d recommend the Ghost Stories dub. Sure, it’s raunchy and a bit repetitive, but at least the voice actors actually acted like they CARED about the project!
P.S. It’s pretty unbelievable that you consider Rock a Doodle worse than A Troll in Central Park. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. 🤷‍♀️

I always thought that "Doogal" was just underated, but I didn't think it was one of the worst animated films ever made.
Also when I first saw the trailer for this film in the DVD opening of "The Reef", Doogal sounded like he was voiced by a young man. When I took a glance at the actual movie, Doogal's voice sounded like a child. I feel so robbed.

So now comes the next question: how would you rate the European adaptation?
For me it would be the following:

    Final Verdict: 6.5/10

  • @hammerman1758

This film is like a feature-length gag dub, but written by film executives and not funny in the slightest.
Now the original film isn't a classic, but at least it had some character development during the course of the events.
I think that this originally had a short playing before it, which was funnier than the film itself, plus a small bit where Doogal talks to the narrator before the film starts, but those were probably before the home video release.
