This is part of the Engineering Your Future web curriculum offered by ThinkTV.
wow this video really inspired me i really want to be a civil engineer when
i am older.
@MasterThief1324 in a very minor way. that is chiefly attributed to an architect, or depending on local laws, a "custom home builder" who is just really a contractor. A civil might play a role in how drainage and grading are completed but most assured, not the design. thats not to say you cant design as a civil, but thats a whole other story.
Great video !! we need more Engineers in the world ! Cesar Pelli is from argentina like me :)
@NeoQuello on average for a civil engineer is about $75 000. I have friends who have just recently graduated from university and are making 60K/70K starting.
Hey i just declared my major as a Civil Engineer, hopefully someone here would give me some kind of an advice to go with
as regards knowledge, a civil engineer knos way more than the architect. An engineer can construct huge buildings without a single architect. An architect needs the engineer.
Work Overseas you will make double the amount of income you make here in the states. My friend who was a Horizontal Engineer in the Army Reserves earned a Associates in Civil Engineering. With his Secret Clearance he is working with a team internationally making $140k. Only works 9-10months a year.... He makes it back to the states just in time to be a Community College Math tutor making additional $15k (Part-time Work). I'm a Army Active duty Engineer....
BUT the engineers are the brains behind the project. It does not happen without them. That is a fact.
omg...what a fantastic video.. i think its one of the best youtube videos of all time... OPPA GANGAM STYLE
Someone plz answer: I LOVE math and want to be a civil engineer. I am taking pre- calculus my sophmore year of HIGHSCHOOL. I don't enjoy science that much. Is this for me? Thx

Hello people I have a question if I study to become a civil engineer in a Latin American country can I find a job in the USA ?
@addieroxrev09 you are aware that its not called civil because egypt was the first civilisation right? egypt was not the first civilisation either. engineering was originally only a military position, then civil engineers were required . civil means of or for the citizens.
hardest? ^^ euh... from what i've seen: molecular physics.
Those stairs with floor slab look so difficult.
top hardest class for civil engineer?
I personaly beleive a couple years from now, our world will have to re-adapt, we're going to enter a phase of restructuration and civil engineers and going to at the front line :) It's a beautiful career, tough... but flourishing.
yes, could be useful to write codes for beams to determine deflection tolerances and safety factor recalculations ect. can't hurt to learn its computing power comes in handy with large amounts of data.
I always wanted to be a Engineer or CivilEngineer
in taking civil engineering, is it really necessary to be a mathematician? You know Im planning to take that course but I'm not so good in drawing and mathematics. How is it?
wow. im impressed. excellent. civil engineering is the oldest of all, starting right from civilisation in egypt, etc.. it is no wonder a great profession and civil engineers always take their pride.
Okay?, then what do the architects do?
