There are layers and layers of spiritual restriction. The makeup is bandaid on a deeper spiritual issue. Genuinely asking because I'm really curious if this is related. In general men wearing makeup is not common yet in korea and the idea of it still weird to majority of people. Is this one of the reason why general public is not really fond of male idols compared to actors or singers (beside the prejudice of their attitude of course)? Makeup is a part of their job, some even wear makeup outside their schedule. So even if they are seen as 'visual standard' by idol fans, are they not exactly fit the norm of the society in general because of this aspect to the point people quite indifferent towards them (i've heard some even said men like them are embarassment)?
I don't think so it's new trend ,in our ancient history as well as in our mythology our male uses ornaments and as well as makeup, personally I like it because takecare should be for all men and as well as for women ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
It means foundation, bb cream, concealer, brow pencil sometimes. Skincare is a given. Anything beyond that like eye shadow, bronzer etc still has some negative feminine stigma still attached. Most ordinary guys in Korea still don't wear makeup. It's generally the guys really into appearance, looking to attract a bombshell woman because their standards are "men that look as good as a celebrity" and well...celebrities globally wear makeup.
Jerry, I am just curious about another thing that I see in videos, Korean men not just wearing makeup but also carrying handbags that look similar to Korean women handbags and having similar hair color sometimes. Could it be their sense of style is UNISEX. Could you please do a video about that.
not exactly most men in Korea who use makeup just put it on to even out their skin or darken their brows cause they lack them most don't do contouring that changes face shape

I believe a man should take care of his skin like his face like cleansing and using products like toner and moisturizer and sunscreen. But if they’re using foundation and eyeliner the things that women use that’s a problem for me. That my opinion.
I don't think so. It is not exsclusive for women, it's wasn't exsclusive even in the past times. I don't think that only women have right for fake perfection😅
It's up to you but you should realize your values are indoctrinated. I'm Asian. Skincare was normal for us decades ago. Growing up in the West, men would think skincare and even cologne was "gay". Look at them now. This happened with pink clothes too. Started for men then for women, unisex around 2000 now back to being "feminine". I find the guys who care about this aren't secure in their masculinity. I got a deep voice, I'm buff, I'm a trained fighter and can out "masculine" people. Yet I can wear a pink hoodie because there's nothing to prove but here and there some guy will glance like it's weird.

Stars straight men like KISS, Human League, Gary Numan, Prince & Adam Ant, wore makeup, and their icon legend still carries on like today's Korea. If a straight man wears makeup to look polished, clean, and handsome then it is normal. I notice more gay men don't wear much makeup today but just a little bit of mascara, lips, bronzer, and eyebrows. Makeup is like wearing clothes on and should not be judged.
Straight were more colorful with glam rock and moustache was a very common thing in gay culture some decades ago
so handsome men... people always say South Koreans are not as handsome as in k-drama but these street interviews give me a different impression 😅
He chooses on these guys on purpose. I visited Korea this summer. There are definitely handsome men out there. But not like this. Not that much. So, life is really not like k-drama
@@yfk1989 Depends on where you are in Korea. Some parts of Seoul are overrun by tourists, others are frequented by local models (I'm not kidding).
Where did you visit, I'm curious.
The Busan guy's English is so good. His vocabulary is impressive 🙂
This is a little backhanded, what did you expect?
I think it’s more personal preference. There are many who use lots of skin care products but not all wear makeup. If they do, great for them and I’m glad the guy who said he doesn’t said it doesn’t mean a man is gay only, but depends on one’s choice. 😊
In Germany we have new national football/ soccer shirts in PINK. You wouldn't believe the uproar! So much fragile masculinity around. At the same time it's the fastest selling football/ soccer shirt ever put up for sale. 😂 It's just absurd that certain colours, clothes or beauty practices should be reserved for one gender. Let's not limit ourselves! ❤
I see nothing wrong with it! Koreans have the best skin care products and makeup period ❤️❤️❤️
Not bombastic side eye lmao
I am korean. I have no men who wear make up. It is still not normal for korean.
I thought it was already widely accepted because of kpop
Film industry, modelling, Kpop, influencers and some celebrities ( outside of work ) wear makeup but the average Korean guy won't be wearing makeup.
The men who admitted that they wore makeup had glowing and beautiful skin.
When i was a kid i had to wear glasses that were so heavy they've left permanent marks on each side of my upper nose. When i'm wearing my contacts i use the slightest amount necessary to cover them up.One small bottle last me for over a year.I still feel kind of weird using it,but it keeps me from looking like i just woke up.😆
개인적으로 마초문화 싫어하는 사람이지만 한국 남자가 봐도 어떤 분들은 말투와 행동이 오해를 불러일으키는 분들이 계시더라구요 ...😅
Hope everyone does skincare because that influence a lot on well aging. We all humans should do skincare with high importance.. Makeup is a plus to appearance
Totally loved this! And (just for me) it feels so refreshing* to hear their English. I wish to travel one day but the not speaking native languages was a big fear. I guess it will not be a problem in Korea. ✌🏻✨
There are layers and layers of spiritual restriction. The makeup is bandaid on a deeper spiritual issue. The problem is the word Korean itself has come to represent an appearance and therefore a spiritual consciousness that becomes a spiritual prison to those who identify with it, limited that person from evolving beyond the self image they have of being so called Korean. Pray for the land of Korea and the human life residing there, that God may lead a spiritual awakening
i love it !!
It’s a hard no for me. If I see a man with lipstick on, it’s an instant turn off. At least romantically.
I sure am with you there and I'd add to that but l'll stay on the assignment! 🤭
they mainly just use bb cream to smooth out their skin and brown pencil because they don’t have brows
Yeah that's some James Charles mess level
@abd12459 isnt he gay though?
fascinating this popped up as my fave boy group ZEROBASEONE is currently promoting Colorgram a kbeauty makeup brand, focusing on their lip balms!! They have an advantage as all 9 members are very goodlooking according to kbeauty standards so wearing makeup to them is not about covering up but emphasiing their freah good looks... & the fandom, Zerose, made up of mostly women & girls eats that all up ! Thanks for the vid!💪😁
I love the flawless beautiful skin that the makeup enhances on men who wear makeup. So beautiful
Men in Korea mostly they r very expressive and want to look representable in public.

There's a difference between skincare and makeup. Most Korean men don't actually wear makeup like women, but use skincare instead.

What a fantastic topic! Love your videos and content! I’m uploading new video in a couple of hours featuring men wearing nails! ❤❤❤❤❤
I haven’t seen any guys in Korea wearing makeup. If anything, I’ve seen way more tough guys who look like Bolo from Bloodsport. I’m starting to think the make up thing is just for TV.
홍대를 안 가서 그런가??? 진짜 화장 하는 남자가 있긴 함?
백탁 현상 심한 썬크림 바른거 아님?
Genuinely asking because I'm really curious if this is related. In general men wearing makeup is not common yet in korea and the idea of it still weird to majority of people. Is this one of the reason why general public is not really fond of male idols compared to actors or singers (beside the prejudice of their attitude of course)? Makeup is a part of their job, some even wear makeup outside their schedule. So even if they are seen as 'visual standard' by idol fans, are they not exactly fit the norm of the society in general because of this aspect to the point people quite indifferent towards them (i've heard some even said men like them are embarassment)?
The guy who have ponytailed long hair and earrings learned well in doing his no make up make up look. Kudos to the girlfriend.
Don’t know but men wearing make up will still be weird and cringe asf to me 😢😢
Too each their own!!!
I don't think so it's new trend ,in our ancient history as well as in our mythology our male uses ornaments and as well as makeup, personally I like it because takecare should be for all men and as well as for women ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Do they mean makeup as eye shadow and mascara OR skin cream, skin care, moisturizer cream?
It means foundation, bb cream, concealer, brow pencil sometimes. Skincare is a given. Anything beyond that like eye shadow, bronzer etc still has some negative feminine stigma still attached.
Most ordinary guys in Korea still don't wear makeup. It's generally the guys really into appearance, looking to attract a bombshell woman because their standards are "men that look as good as a celebrity" and well...celebrities globally wear makeup.
it's usually just darkening brows or evening out skin
Jerry, I am just curious about another thing that I see in videos, Korean men not just wearing makeup but also carrying handbags that look similar to Korean women handbags and having similar hair color sometimes. Could it be their sense of style is UNISEX. Could you please do a video about that.
Makeup is just a way to make you feel better about how you look, it shouldn't be a beauty standard, is just a cosmetic like clothes.
not exactly most men in Korea who use makeup just put it on to even out their skin or darken their brows cause they lack them most don't do contouring that changes face shape
I don’t think men should wear makeup unless they’re in the entertainment industry (actor, musician, etc).
why not? we are all being seen and judged daily. A better appearance opens many doors
the average office worker doesn't wear makeup in Korea even if they use skin care product. Lol
Does this affect dating? I would like to hear from the women.
i didn't know that men in Seoul are familiar with wearing makeup cuz i live in Busan. non of men around me wear makeup
but i saw one random guy wore BB cream. honestly, it was strange for me but not that i hate it. it's just not familiar here in Busan
I’m interested when would we see dota 2 or league pros wearing makeup
i never seen cosmetic boy aroud me in my life. im korean.
I would love for you to interview Chinese people
I did
I want to know what kind of jobs these make up wearin dudes have? I would almost lay money that it's not a job wear they get there hands dirty!

I guaran-fuckin-tee you this is NOT the norm in South Korea. I hate these cherry picked youtube videos that ask specific type of people, in a specific area of a country. Most of us strugglin to make ends meet and don't have time to buy these shit that are not necessary.
The problem comes when you're bf puts on make up and looks more prettier than you😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 yet your both putting on make up😂😂😂😂 { joking}
Anyways our African men have no time gor for make up😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

한국에서 남자가 화장하는 게 흔하다고?;; 직장생활하면서 회사에서든 사적으로든 화장한 남자 본 적이 없고, 비비크림 바른 남직원 몇 년 지난 지금까지도 놀림

@@iimmortalldreams why do some ppl broaden a Korean issue to Asian issue on RUclips comment section? I have seen this type of comment so frequently so far
Tbh IT is kinda weird
usually it's just bb cream and concealer
I guess I come at it pragmatically, it’s just a waste of time. There are more important things to do than to spend your precious time looking good for others.
You're portraying them as lazy people who only care about their appearance.
Would you say you work and study more than the average Korean?
@@user-cnksi223 I didn’t say they were lazy. Maybe you’re projecting. Working 112 (16 hour days, 7 days) hours a week years ago to get ahead is what we had to do. I think that’s more than the average Korean.
You are so diligent, working 16 hours a day, excluding the 8 hours you spend sleeping.
You don't even have time to commute to work, and you have a job that doesn't even have weekends... You really are a workaholic.
After all, Americans are diligent! great.
Please scold us lazy K people more! thank you :)
@@user-cnksi223 I’m a Korean too. Lol. I don’t work like that anymore. I used.
You seem Korean American
This is good. As long as you don't push it to kids, i think it's fine.
Make up is not for kids.
What a society of plastic and artificial people. It gives me the creeps.
Then focus on your life lol
I like Korean people but it seems like they like this mental barriers, just do you and stop making everything so difficult 😂😂😂
