  • Hey guys. I wanted to upload a comprehensive shifter bushing installation guide for those of you who don't know how to do it on your own. It's a fairly easy install to do and doesn't require much mechanical aptitude, but it makes a night and day difference in the shifter feel. Stay tuned for my next video on the M-Tec shifter springs installation video. Make sure to drop a like and sub to the channel for more content like this and as always, keep it classy.

    ther reason why the small bushing is loose and probably the big one too is there's not suppose to be 3 o rings on there its suppose to be two and you put the locking c like rings on the bottom so it doens't slide side to side and its locked in there. the o rings that came with it are spare o rings that are not suppose to be used.

      Installed them shortly after the video was all filmed and never made a follow up. You're absolutely correct though. Pain in the arse to get on too.

    12:47 ~ very important to install the locking washers - they need to be used to create a sandwich between the bushing and the holder. If they are not installed there is a high percentage chance the bushing will pop out over a good bump

    • @rg_barrow
      @rg_barrow  7 лет назад +1

      You are absolutely right. I installed them shortly after I uploaded this video but I haven't had a chance to make an update video.

      How do you install the lock washers.. does it press in where the last rubber washer goes in?

    • @rg_barrow
      @rg_barrow  5 лет назад

      @@javiersantanajr.1996 I'm sorry for the late response. They snap into the bottom groove of the bushing. They are actually a huge pain in the ass. After you seat the bushing, snap them in to secure the bushing into the housing.

    When I was installing the new k-tuned shifter bushing, I also noticed that the smaller bushing had a crap load of play.. I honestly don’t think this bushing is the correct one for our 9th gens.. maybe for 8th gens but not ours.. after installing them, I went inside and tried to see if it would shift and go into gear, but found out the that huge play in the smaller bushing would prevent me from shifting into 5th gear smoothly.. the play is NOT normal at at.. I believe k-tuned fucked up on this.. and since I ripped and kinda broke the stock ones, I just decided to add a few fender washers to have them working properly. I honestly regret buying them. I should’ve gone with the hybrid racing ones. But after installing some washers the shift felt great! But still disappointed at k-tuned. It’s like they didn’t even test their product.. lol. Most likely slapped a sticker on the 8th gen bushing and called it a day. I will use them for now.. but will be ordering the hybrid racing ones for the future. If your buying this for your 9th gens.. I highly advise you to spend a few extra bucks and go with hybrid racing. They fucked me on this one.

      Abe Linkin I agree 100%. It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded a new video, but I’ve been meaning to do a follow up review on all of the parts I have installed on the Si and how they’ve held up thus far. The rubber o ring on each of the bushings was destroyed after only 1 year of use, so I would definitely recommend the Acuity or hybrid racing. Ktuned products are complete trash! I have seen everything from broken shifters, failed cmc and slave cylinders and more, including these bushings. I’d say save your money and buy hybrid or acuity!

      You both don't know shit about working on cars and need to stop before you hurt yourself or someone else. I've been running the ktuned bushings for over 3 years and they are still perfect. Dont know how you managed to fuck them up when there really isn't anything to fuck up. Please stop working on cars and talking shit when you dont know what the fuck you're talking about.

    • @F0BBYLEE
      @F0BBYLEE 4 года назад

      @@rg_barrow I wouldn't say K-tuned is trash... since my K-tuned cmc kit which also came with the slave is holding up after 2 years now.. No issues yet, and also my K-tuned catback exhaust is awesome keeping the car quite and sounding great!.. But ya, I ended up switching to the acuity shifter bushing and not going to lie, there wasn't that much of a difference.. LOL, besides the "play" being gone. The fender washer does the job just as fine. But with my OCD, I had to try it. xD I'm now running the kraftwerks sc'er kit and making nearly 400whp on pump gas. So far so good :)

      @@JDM_Jeffro Sir, If your don't own a 9th gen Si.. I would STFU!! and keep your BS ass comment to yourself.. I'm not bashing on K-tuned @ all.. they make GREAT!! products, but not all product these company manufacture is tested.. they figured that the 9th gen would be another ripped off version of the 8th gen and used and manufactured a lot products based off the 8th gen Si.. I owned both. YOU ARE AN IDIOT!.

      If it’s not a hydraulic issue most likely internal, throw out bearing, clutch or worse case gearbox. What exactly is the problem ??? Won’t go into gear at all??? Hard time shifting???

    • @rg_barrow
      @rg_barrow  5 лет назад

      Hope you got this issue taken care of. I'd reccomend replacing clutch, throw out bearing, or even opening up the shift mechanism on top of the trans to see if you may have bent the shifter arm.

    Did you have to splice any wires for the skunk 2 intake mod? Thinking about going with skunk2’s intake..

    • @rg_barrow
      @rg_barrow  5 лет назад

      I did have to extend some wiring if I recall correctly, but it was only for the battery relocation.
