Importance of simple pleasures in remote mountains are more soothing and long lasting than materialistic pleasures in the comfort of one's home. Life is even more beautiful when it is lived simply. This is the msg learnt from this story. Thanks for the amazing video Saravana.
Kishtwar is stunningly beautiful as I know from two trip there in the 1970s and 1980s!! Have been yearning to go back there again and your lovely video has certainly given me an extra impetus! Great job with the wood stove as well and as usual your time lapses are excellent, the hallmark of an experienced master in the art! Cheers and happy hiking!
Found your channel in lockdown of 2020. Since than I have been watching your videos. Today i was thinking why I like your videos. They are not the best of cinematic shots, sometimes the focus is not right, so why I like them. And the answer I found was is this You don't shy away from making mistakes, from showing your failures. Everybody want to show the beauty of mountain, but what about the struggle in reaching there. What about the struggle of finding water and fire wood. For me your videos do imitate life. The time lapse of mountains are like the one part of life (one part of video) and life is much more. Thanks for doing what you love, thanks for being yourself.
Another beautiful video as always. For the wood fire going off so fast , you can keep the unused wood and tinders close to the burning stove which will keep your wood stock warm and dry, so when you put them into the stove it will quickly catch the fire.
Finally hiking vlog video what a great job 👍 You are truly inspiration for many people who want to become as like you.....this is the another side of the world where everything things looks perfect and well managed and no disturbance in the world of cringe Content you are the only one who makes simple and effective content You are a true content creator more power to you sarvana ji I started watching your when i was in the 12th Class and still i am watching your content Currently i am in the University And doing my MPEd ❤

Thanks for the video... Good to see the pros and cons of a wood stove specially in the mountains.. And i can so relate to the fact that the weather changes so frequently in the mountains.. I am in the Canadian rockies now and it's the same out here.. Its a struggle to get the fire on with the wet wood lying around so here people buy wood from shops before they go camping. Also had to buy tinders.
That is more weight to carry right? I would prefer to carry my petrol stove in that scenario. The wood stove worked great in dry places like Zanskar, but i wouldn't depend on it again in Himachal and in Kisthwar
@@indiainmotion yeah more weight and on top of that we need to prebook the camping sites, we can't camp and light a fire without permissions 😂😂 missing india for that reason.... In india we are not bound by any authority, its just us and the nature.
Technically you are supposed to take permission while hiking in most places in India. But no one really enforces it much.. thankfully. Not sure how long it will last though.
For example.. I had to take permission for this trip in Kishtwar. There is a police checkpost in a village on the route and they will not let you pass if you don't have permission.
What a beautiful journey! The warmth of the morning sun after a cold night, the peaceful mountains, and the simple joys of camping-this video truly captures the essence of nature's serenity. Your adventure in the BhotNala valley, with its stunning views and challenging hikes, is inspiring. I want to comment something : I'm unable to collect words. just few days before I was on the opposite side of these mountains (Zanskar side). I have been manifesting to explore this area from years now. Hope I'll do it some day... commendable content and the effort you have put in this. Thank You
2-3 things. Carry a lot of birch bark in a ziplock bag (as much as you can carry). Please buy a Ferro rod (fire steel) and learn how to use it. You will run out of matches and lighter fuel or matches and lighter could get wet. If your cooking pot is larger than the mouth of the wood fire, the fire will be protected. And yes, your food pot will require a lid to prevent your food to catch all that wood. I've been into bushcraft since a decade or so now, practising at my farm mostly. But it's bliss to use and you will feel secure that even water will not prevent the fire steel from creating sparks. As for water, carry a life straw or Sawyer mini so you can drink safely out of those streams (boiling that water is 100% safe, but that won't happen everytime you need a sip. There are water bottles available with a filter straw in built. Hydroblu is my fav but you can pick Sawyer mini or lifestraw from amazon. Stanley has some good pots and pans for wood fires. The place you were in, you can arrange 2 rocks and put a big flat thin rock on the top to make a bridge. That rock will get nice and hot if you have a good supply of dead dry wood. This is not difficult in the place you were camping.
Love your videos. I saw a few Chinese hikers using fire stoves that has fan built-in the bottom. It can be powered by power bank. You may think to look for this type of stoves but I'm not sure how heavy it is. When the fan is being used the fire is so strong that you can almost cook restaurant level food😂.
Lovely Video Saravan Sir. 😍😍😍 What an amazing place. Would really like to know your THOUGHTS as in what all goes on in your head when you are in your tent all alone doing some introspection maybe or in general what do you to kill time. Thanks & Kudos to you for this splendid work. 😊👍
I just listen to audiobooks when i have free time. But most of the time is spent in cooking and scouting for nice places to shoot timelapse videos and ofcourse for shooting the timelapse video themselves.
I don't know why but I always get your videos recommended on my TV but never on my phone/laptop. Guess that a metaphor in itself you're made for bigger screens.
There is a multi stove option available , so dear carry both. I use two , so it saves so much time. the wood fire n multiple one. And also burn cowdung.
I do have two multi-fuel stoves. I was experimenting with the wood burning stove this year to see how practical it is to use in different conditions. I never had any issues using it in the dry conditions of Ladakh and Zanskar. But for the other regions, especially during monsoon, they are not very practical
I suggest you look into meal replacement powders like Huel. Mix in water and drink, no need to carry food, stoves etc. The taste takes a bit getting used to, but I've used to to great success in my hiking.
Oh yeah.. I would love to do something like that.. I did not know that Bakarwals came from Kishtwar towards Panikhar, very interesting. Do you know when they return back from Paniker?
Such a nice place! but the tent looked very cold and that stove....rather bring a omnifuel and an extra fuel bottle... But nice to see your experiments!
Wonderful, as always. Why the tent without a floor? Doesn’t it get awfully drafty? I remember when modern tents (with attached floor) were invented and it felt like SUCH a luxury and one I’d never be without
Dear I was going to say that mostly all put the little bitty stoves in tent, so u shd do this only. Secondly, I also live in Himalayas, I keep a small 3/4 inches plastic spray bottle , got from Amazon, full of diesel, we either spray kerosene, or petrol but I feel diesel is safer. So I light my firewood and coals by first 3/4/5 sprays of diesel. It catches fire soon by this method.
You should keep some kerosene in a bottle for burning wood instantly also there is a special wood called Saang here in Kinnaur Himachal Pradesh which is solid wood but instantly burns and remains for a good long time not like birch. keep that also with you 😊 do visit Rispa(Kinnaur) someday. Would love to host you if I am there at my home. Keep going 😊
