    Klondike Katie is a favorite engine, we’ve ridden her numerous times!!! What a sweet sound that steam whistle makes!!!

    I like that you showed engine 107 at the beginning most people don't know about the locomotive.

    I really like that whistle. I see the engines have a new type of cinder catcher/spark arrestor, a much smaller style like the Colorado narrow gauge uses.

      Ha that’s good because I got a few cinders in my eyes last time I rode it!

    I love the train so much, and my family took me and two friends here literally just a couple days before this video was published! That's pretty darn cool, I think. :P

    I love 192. That Crosby is amazing, but the southern 3 chime it has now fits 192 best in my opinion

    I like how the funnel looks identical to the ones at the Durango and Silverton

    • @SmokyMtnSteam
      @SmokyMtnSteam  6 лет назад +1

      The spark arrestor 192 wore in 2017 & 2018 is gone now, she has a plain stack again now

    I wonder why they put a spark arrestor on Katie? I have no problem with it, and it looks good, but it adds unneeded height to the smokestack.

    • @SmokyMtnSteam
      @SmokyMtnSteam  7 лет назад +1

      I cant say for certain but its probably a response to last year's wildfire.

    • @tnaviation562
      @tnaviation562 7 лет назад +3

      SmokyMtnSteam Cinderella started a fire sometime last year right before the bridge into Timber Canyon, and they had to evacuate the train and shut down all rides above that, the only ride that didn't shut down was lightning rod.

    • @CraterFilms
      @CraterFilms 7 лет назад +2

      SmokyMtnSteam then why don't they convert their steam engines to oil?

    • @style5tie
      @style5tie 7 лет назад +1

      I think a spark arrester is a bit cheaper.

    • @SmokyMtnSteam
      @SmokyMtnSteam  7 лет назад +2

      I didn't know that 70 had started a fire, makes sense that they'd want arrestors then. And how ironic that Lightning Rod became the only ride open.

    • @SmokyMtnSteam

      SmokyMtnSteam what's 190's?

    • @TweetsieRailroader

      It's also a Crosby 3 chime.

    • @tnaviation562

      It has now been transferred to Cinderella, and should be on her until the end of the season.

    Great video!
    I went towards the end of June but I’m having serious trouble uploading the video from my iPhone since I got iOS 11

    • @SmokyMtnSteam
      @SmokyMtnSteam  7 лет назад +1

      Have you tried importing the files to your computer and editing/uploading from there? Back when I still used a Mac I used to sometimes have trouble uploading from iMovie, it may be an Apple issue.

    • @benmerritt9080
      @benmerritt9080 7 лет назад +1

      I don’t have a Mac and yes, I’ve tried that, it won’t let it save to my desktop with out failing halfway through

  • @radforddivisionrailfan

    I'm glad that Katie is back in service, but I really don't like the new spark arrestor.

    • @vincentberkan605
      @vincentberkan605 7 лет назад +1

      Well I like it. Besides, it serves it purpose. It catches sparks from escapin' from her stack.

    • @SmokyMtnSteam
      @SmokyMtnSteam  7 лет назад +3

      I'm pretty neutral towards it, but it does kinda give her a Rio Grande look as opposed to the more fitting Southern or White Pass look. I'd prefer it gone but it certainly doesn't ruin the look of the locomotive.
      Dollywood has certainly done worse, remember the big balloon stacks?

    • @radforddivisionrailfan
      @radforddivisionrailfan 7 лет назад +1

      Anything is better than those balloons.

      Yeah I remember those as a kid, they were bigger than Donald Trump's ego. But I think the spark arrestors are very important

    • @SmokyMtnSteam

  • @CraterFilms

    Similar looking smoke stack to the Durango and Silverton and Cumbre's and Toltec steam engines.

    • @trainboy1926
      @trainboy1926 7 лет назад +1

      Crater Films they added a spark arrester

    • @CraterFilms
      @CraterFilms 7 лет назад +1

      Trainboy192 I already knew that.

    • @carolinacentralrwy
      @carolinacentralrwy 7 лет назад +1

      That's because they're based off of the plans of the D&S spark arrestor.
