Thanks for noticing some details. As great as Band-Maid is live, you can really hear how progressive they are in the studio tracks more clearly. I like progressive music and this is what really attracts me to Band-Maid. It’s even more amazing that at the surface you hear these catchy choruses and harmonies while this complex layering is underneath. Phenomenal band

Have to say, I'm glad I've bought a few of the the official blu-rays from BM's own site and got hold of a couple of other concert recordings via (ahem) other sources - for the last couple years I've regularly cued up one or other and the next thing I know a couple of hours have passed watching and listening to some really top-tier playing. As a life-long bass-head, Misa and Akane (with her killer double kick syncing tight with Misa) are manna from heaven to me.
I think you should do Giovanni next, and that's not a song many react to because there's no official video. The audio track alone is well worth doing, very proggy. You will also find a version out there from another covid livestream, and a studio track with no vocals. I recommend the official audio only followed by the instrumental only. I heard SO much more stuff with the vocals out. That said, the track with the vocals is still my favorite - but the instrumental version holds its own without vocals (which is kind of insane, really).
Thanks for the reaction, it’s always great when their is a reactor who has the musical knowledge to appreciate how good these ladies are. To the Madiacs they are the best band on the planet. I know that is subjective but your ears know when something sounds good and their music is sooooo good and the fact that they cross many genres adds to it not to mention the great singing. I drum a bit and so really appreciated the details in your reaction about Akane's drum patterns. Transitions, transitions, transition. With a drummer like her, the rest of the band know exactly when and where things are and supposed to happen. It's all about the placement of those rests? between regular time and the half time section.

Like that you're notice what Akane (aka the Gorilla - drums) is doing. One thing you'll catch if you re-listen enough is that she tends not to hold a pattern for more than a couple of measures, and her accents on snare tend to NOT be where anyone else would put them. It keeps you tuned in, even if you don't know what's going on, because she, like the band as a whole, is never predictable. Honestly I don't even know how she remembers her part, and more than one drummer who has tried to cover their songs has remarked about how hard it is to learn the drum part.

I think Akane, the goddess of drums, is the best drummer in the world right now. She is virtuoso on her instrument, everything she does is in service of the song, and what she does improves every part of a song. And her sheer joy in playing! I love all of the Maids, but Akane is my absolute favourite.

I would suggest you listen to the MV to this song. It's an absolute masterpiece and the mix of this sucks....the lead guitar is not even heard thru out this song.....you'll really notice what your missing if you compare the two !!!!
