They make such idiosyncratic choices that seem envitible once they are made. Always inventive but always accessible and pleasing to the ear. Can you imagine someone in 1950's America hearing this music? They might go mad. They might have rioted the way the way the patrons did at the first performance of Stravinsky's Firebird. I think BandMaid mirrors the relentless barrage of today's informational "noise" but in the most artistic way possible. It's likeable and it's catchy. The music is crafted to draw the fans in and sticks in our brain. It's a terrific mashup made by courageous artists who use every color and every medium to create an artifact of magic.

One thing I really love about Misa's playing besides the 2nd verse and solo portion is how, during the half-time chorus after the solo, while Kanami is playing her counter melody, Misa abandons the rhythm and starts playing along in support of Saiki's vocal melody. It's just played in such a lovely way, her bass work and Saiki's voices complimenting each other so perfectly, along with Miku's harmonies.

I've always seen this song not as an anti-God song, but rather as a song that tells us not to rely on God. I mean, you can pray for whatever the heck you want, but God has indeed put everything there for us to help ourselves to, and has no real reason to entertain our requests any further (unless he chooses to). So, don't rely on God to always help us forward, the us meaning all of us. That's the gist of how I see Miku crafting the lyrics to this song. Don't know if anyone else sees it the same way.

  • @leekebot1802

Your take on the song being a love song is interesting, because I got a totally different take on what the song is about. lol To me it's like the lyrics are saying "We don't need some god's direction or help, we'll get what we want out of life and love through our own power. And you better stay out of my way or better yet, hop aboard. Because this train isn't stopping." A crazy motivational type song. Could be wrong, but I like the idea of it, so I'll run with it.

Worth the watch just for that. Keep up the great work Princess NittPicc. The breakdowns are appreciated and your expressions are priceless. They are amazing. There's the melody with Saiki, the counter melody 1 with Kanami and counter melody 2 with MISA. You can hear them, yet they don't step over each other. Just another days work in the world of Band-Maid. Always keeps the song moving, evolving and interesting. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘

What you expect is not necessarily what you get, musically. The best composition and structure I've seen since Rush and Yes.

If I am remembering correctly, this song has more of MISA's contributions than most up until it was written. Besides her bass line and solo, she also did the original drum programming for Akane to work with. Kanami sent MISA a demo of just her guitar melody, and told MISA to try the rest.

Great reaction, as per usual. Miku really got some thought provoking lyrics to go along with Kanami’s composition. Initially, the song started out as “Why pray when it seems like no one is listening.” Don’t we all feel like that sometimes? So, get up and get working because no one else is going to do it for you. But later, the lyrics seem to suggest that they believe in the story of Adam and Eve (and heaven since how can they love after they have passed.) In the case of Band Maid, they went thru some tough early years and maybe it seemed like their prayers to get to be successful was falling on deaf ears. But, if no one is listening to their prayers, then just work harder. However, their prayers were answered long before the band even formed. Each of them are world class talents and the best at their craft. The talent they possess was there at the very start. God answered their prayers even before they started. BUT….they now had their part to do….put in the hard work. That is why they seem so humble. The talent was given to them, but the success had to be earned. Anyway, that’s how I initially interpreted the lyrics. Miku is awesome and the band she put together is the greatest of all time. I wonder if she knew how good they would be at the start. Wonderful band, wonderful story. Thanks again for the reaction. I LOVE BAND MAID. ❤❤

  • @atlasisshrugging
    @atlasisshrugging 4 дня назад +17

The lyrical line "Philosopher's questions tumble through my mind" provides the perspective for interpreting the lyrics in general.
Basically, it's a song about how someone can approach their life's good and bad experiences in the context of questioning whether some sort of "god" is involved in (or responsible for) the events of their life.
People can find EQUAL cause for despair in the proposition that, on the one hand, a supernatural entity exists which CAUSES harmful events to occur and, on the other hand, that there's NO such "god" to appeal to in the hope that it will PREVENT such harmful events.
Ultimately, the conclusion expressed in the lyrics is that people will experience despair in EITHER case, so the question of "Does a 'god' exist?" becomes IRRELEVANT.
Throughout your life you have to endure the experience of suffering from a hardship before eventually MOVING ON to better times. Whether a "god" is or isn't playing some sort of role in what has happened, or will happen, in your life can suddenly be seen to be pointless to consider once you realize that, regardless of what you end up believing, you will only ever have TWO options once your circumstances take a turn for the worst: allow the event to DEFEAT you (choosing a long or slow death), or struggle to GET PAST what is dragging you down and move on with your life (choosing to WIN the day).

Your ears are drawn to Akane’s drums, Kanami’s guitar, Misa’s bass, but never Miku’s rhythm guitar. It’s her guitar playing that allows Misa and Kanami to do so much more in these songs. Miku learned how to play guitar after forming the band, is a lead and backup singer, and writes most of the lyrics to the songs, not to mention she helps promote and manage the band. She’s without a doubt, the most underrated member of Band-Maid.

Ale of The Warning expressed admiration for the way that Misa can switch from picking to slapping and back again. Her way of hiding the pick instantly on the fly is something she uses a lot -- to excellent effect. Unfinished songs? Band-Maid leave you wanting more -- they never overstay their welcome. But you can always put their music on loop. Also: if it wasn't for this song, I would never have thought of Adam and Eve as a love story. Interesting take that Japanese culture has when it absorbs Western stories. The title "No God", I guess, needs to be seen through Japanese eyes -- Shinto gods. Think Miyazaki and his river gods, forest gods, etc.

I am Japanese, and even for me, these lyrics are complicated. But I think what the lyrics want to say is that you make your life by yourself, it's not God. You can think, believe and do what you want. You can go wherever you want, you can reach there if you wish. The song is saying that you can make your life as you want, I think.

(She looks very happy in the video, as she always does) ******* I love the friendship within this band.

“no god” is a wild, almost disjointed musical frenzy. One thing you must know is that this is the JAM in the live setting. It’s where everyone jumps, and cheers, and “whoa oh oh ohs” like crazy people. That’s what “no god” serves in the Band Maid catalog.
On the “mysterious” Miku lyric. I don’t claim perfection; but I have done Maidiac/Nerd-worthy research on this.
    1) “1 2 3 4, Parking Lot!” Is the fun, accepted inside joke amongst fans. When in doubt? This is it.
    2) “1 2 3 4 How be long”. As you said, the translation on the CD. However, there are two reasons why I don’t accept this translation. One, the notoriously difficult and often incorrect translation history in Band Maid lyrics. And two, the words make no sense in English or in context of the song.
    3) My independent research has found a more sensible, believable lyric. “1 2 3 4 は皆!” Or Romanized, “1 2 3 4, Wa mina!” Translated? “1 2 3 4, Everyone!”
Those are what I honestly believe are the words Miku sings. But I’ll never stop cheering “Parking Lot!” ❤

Who would actually think Mozart wrote _Twinkle?_ Someone who's never heard Mozart, I guess.
I feel like the Japanese like to leave a little bit of unresolved tension at the end of a song - either a sudden ending, or a chord progression that doesn't resolve, or whatever. Although I mostly get that impression from anime OPs, so it might be a deliberate decision to leave the OP "unfinished" so that it feels like it leads into the episode? IDK.

OMNG! As awesome as it is, I don't know why they released a second OMV of No God & Sense, or even Puzzle from this Tokyo Garden concert rather than the better, imo, 2017 Studio Coast version. Thx, Nitt Picc for Piccing this second best Covid online live version! 🤘😂

Maybe it will show my age, but everytime I heard the intro reprise after the first chorus and in the outro, I can't stop thinking of the original TMNT theme song from the 80's ^^' (surely it's the sound of Miku's guitar).
Also, I love the way Akane look towards the end of Misa's solo, I gently call it the "swiming puppy" look, especially with how she hit her drums at this moment.
But yeah, like a lot of song from these album and their next EP, they're so much to listen in this song, either it is Misa, the harmonies or just Miku in the background, theire so much to love, classic band maid after all.

Thanks, that was a great reaction. I must admit I prefer songs like No God over other stuff they've done recently, so this reaction was a great opportunity to get back to the good stuff. I never thought I'd say this, but I really wouldn't mind if they'd drop the maid clothes and get back to all rock...

    i like band-maid sunday.
I believe these lyrics were written during covid19. That's why we have words like no god, why me, and go to win. So I think it's 1234 how be long.
    i used google. english difficult.
