      Should I dry fully it with a diffuser or only do it a little and let it air dry? ❤

    • @lauraa2877
      @lauraa2877 4 месяца назад +1

      @@LaineyMarieBeauty I would dry it to about 90% , then let it air dry. Once it is fully dry you can flip your head over and separate the curl at the root by lightly massaging at the root, this will give some volume at the root. You can use a flexible hold hairspray to help hold the curls.

    • @lauraa2877
      @lauraa2877 4 месяца назад +1

      Diffusing upside down at the root will help with volume also. ❤️

      Yes to all of this about a diffuser! It’s magic! On 2nd, 3rd day hair I will use a spray bottle with water and spritz all over, scrunch again with my hands upside down (no product) then defuse a little bit and it brings back a nice bouncy wave!

    You do not need a cowash. That's basically like washing your hair with conditioner. Just use a shampoo and conditioner. Also, instead of the mousse I would highly recommend a hard hold gel since that's going to lock the style in place much better.
    Less is more so maybe try using less of the curl cream. I have fine wavy hair and the line you used was way too heavy and moisturizing for my hair.
    I would recommend that you start watching some videos by Swavy Curly Courtney. She has wavy hair and does a great job explaining things.

    I would look for a spray gel rather than curl cream. With waves, you want your product not to weigh down your curl. I put all my product in while it’s soaking wet, THEN scrunch & plop in my T-shirt. To maintain the waves overnight, try a hair scarf or bonnet.

    Having kids changes your hair! My hair had always been pretty straight but with a slight wave like you said. I've had six kids and now it's got a lot more wavy/curl to it. But I am also on this journey trying to figure out what to do with my hair and how to get the most natural curl out of it.

    So, I have had a similar journey as you. However I found out after I bobbed my hair (after I moved to the humid PNW) I could not straighten it any more. Had to let it go and grow out. Learned along the way how to get it wavier. I laughed with you on you media search about how they tell you "do not ...." But now I do a lot the things they said not to do, lol. YES everyone's hair is different! I love it because it's pretty easy to do. I try to do a lot of your demo updo hairstyles (not a well as you) but they work just fine. At first I 'pineappled' my hair to sleep. but it got too heavy and loppy, now I do 2 low braids. As you know braiding enhances your waves. The thing that I do now, which I think is really weird but it works for me. [At first I used to brush/comb through, in the morning, dampen and rescrunch] Now I hardly ever brush or comb through it daily. I only wash once a week. I kind of finger comb, use hairspray (yes hair spray) and scrunch if I wearing to down. Good luck on your journey, I'm sure you will find the things that will work great for you. You just have to keep trying all the suggestions and products until you get there. You will always be beautiful!

    My hair became wavy in the past few years. I have been trying to wear it wavy, but it looks so bad after I sleep on it. I have learned that the weight of air drying pulls out the waves, so diffusing gives tighter waves. It also helps to keep it super wet while styling so the waves clump together, then plop with the shirt on your head. I really want to try one of those bouncy brushes to make better clumps. I have learned a lot from Manes By Mel on YT and CurlyZia on TikTok. I still feel like I am clueless, so looking forward to following your journey.

    I have wavy hair too. The gell helps it hold. You will need a diffuser if you don't want to wait for it to air dry. I always use a wet brush in the shower when I have conditioner in. It is a good time to get the tangles out. I try not to brush any other time. It also matters how you sleep. I use a silk pillow case and pineapple it in my head (very loose pony with a silk scrunchie). I just put my fingers at the root and kinda shake it out in the morning.

  • @esthertjones
    @esthertjones 4 месяца назад +1

    Lovely results! Your hair probably holds heatless curls so well because it's wavy to begin with. If the mousses works for you, no need to add a gel as well. You can also watch Manes by Mell to see some good wavy routines. She does mostly curly content, but she has advice for looser hair types as well. 👍🏼

    Did your hair feel like it had too much product in it once fully dried? I have very similar type of wavy hair and I can only use one product and only like a quarter size amount so it doesn’t feel product-y over the next few days😆 but I’m open to trying new products!

    One thing I'll mention is before diving into buying ALL THE PRODUCTS, to really examine your hair and scalp health. I've elected not to care about the unnecessary restrictions and rules because my fine wavy hair breaks all the CGM rules anyway.
    I take frequent breaks from my wavy hair journey to examine my hair and scalp health and so I don't lose my sanity, then when I go back I find out yet again the effort is worth the while. A pro and a con of wavy hair is you can't make curls where there are none! Even many curly and coily haired people use products to enhance their natural texture.

    I have wavy hair that is very similar to the results you got. If I could get my waves/curls to look like India Batson, that is the only way I would wear my hair. I can't figure any of these methods out and end up with flat, wavy hair which looks awful on me. Yours looks good.

    • @FaceItGrace
      @FaceItGrace 4 месяца назад

      India also has wavy hair and I agree it's gorgeous! I simply elected not to follow the "rules" and simply do what works for me and my hair and scalp health. The CGM has some great foundational techniques though.

    I think it turned out beautiful!! If you stick to embracing your waves and experiment with different methods, I bet they will bounce up even more. I think maybe next time you should try using less amount of product, that way your waves won't get weighed down because it looks like you have fine hair. Also, I think putting the glove on the hair dryer could be risky as it might overheat the blow-dryer. I would get a universal diffuser attachment. I heat style my hair often and keep trying every month to go natural, but then I give up after 3 days, but I know if I have the courage and dedication to stick to it, I will love my natural hair even more. Would love to see your progress in some more videos.

    I wash, condition, wide tooth comb hair when out of shower-clogged the shower drain too many times-with spray detangler & a bit of oil. Then I prayer hands curling mousse, air dry or diffuse. High comfy bun on top of head at night. Mist with water in morning & lightly scrunch. No real combing or brushing until I wash after 2 days. Then the whole process again. You do need to scrunch out the crunch when hair dries, but it does help cast that curl.
