My classmates at the language school in London were multinational, diverse and lively! then I saw some works of the Impressionists in museums of Paris, and the works of Vermeer in the Mauritshuis in the Netherlands, and I was impressed. Variety is the spice of life!😄
Wow.. Amazing idioms dear.. By the way, second idiom, "variety is the spice of life" fits me like a glove right now as I am enjoying myself away from home and work and staying at my cousin's tea 🍵 estate in the upcountry and getting back this afternoon after staying almost six nights up there.. 😮 It's a long holiday for the last week and a half as we had celebrated our traditional "Sinhalese New year" a few days ago.. I could only watch two idioms as usual (lol) 😂 but will watch the rest when I get back home this afternoon... Was desperate to make a comment and that's why I did this comment despite myself being busy with my holiday plans.. 😊 God bless and do take care of yourself my dear.. 🙏 Hugs.xoxoxo Gams ❤️
Well, every lesson you create is a work of art! Incredibly useful idioms...Yes, speaking to a native makes me walk on eggshells, because I'm afraid to make a bad impression, to be boring and to use broken english. Just like you, I'm a people person and I love socialising. Beauty is in the eye of a beholder...not in your case, since you are the beauty in person and even a blind man could realise how stunningly beautiful you are, just by listening to your enchanting voice. Anyway, my princess, you are the most wonder moment in the weekend and your lessons are just like jazz music...unforgettable...thanks a lot and have the time of your life on your weekend! 🥰
Dear Kathy .... Today's class is fantabulous as usual. You wore your heart on your sleeve because you poured emotions & feelings very fantastically through facial expressions and gestures to tell these idioms. Thanks a lot for teaching us in a funny way..
Hello Lady Catherine I am your Arab follower, and I really not only benefit but enjoy as well Any video you put up will improve greatly. Thank you ever so much ❤
Thank you for another beautiful lesson. I'm "a people person" too. I think it's essential for being a good teacher. I can feel your passion for teaching, that's very encouraging.
I find this very interesting. I also want to say we do use idioms every now and then in official letters but tend to write the simple definition after the idiom in parentheses. Example: Our team needs to be trained in dealing with the locals. The locals have different cultural backgrounds that can cause friction within our team; our team is unaware of the locals’ social obstacles that can arise. Our teams needs to be fully aware of their culture and develop a ‘thick skin’ (an ability to keep from getting upset or offended by the things other people say and do) when criticized by the locals.
Glory be to God.. I feel very much that your lessons are messages to me.. I am a sensitive person and I have been in a bad mood for almost a week as a result of words that were said to me, but I liked your sentence and the first example very much and I was happy with it. How should one be sensitive and ready for criticism? You are my inspiration, my teacher. I pray to God to open your heart to Islam, your mother, George, and everyone you love. I prayed for you in Ramadan. You are a lifeline and happiness for me.❤❤❤
"I am a native Korean speaker. I once met a Korean man who traveled extensively throughout the Korean Peninsula for his work over a long period of time. As a result of his constant exposure to different regional dialects and accents, his Korean speech developed a unique and somewhat peculiar quality. It was a fascinating blend of pronunciations and dialect words from all corners of the country. This got me thinking about how an Englishman's pronunciation might evolve if he were to embark on a similar journey across England, immersing himself in the diverse linguistic landscapes of the various regions."
Very impresif lesson today, learning about beautiful "sweet" idiom. Katherine is teaching as if she understands the situation I face right now. Thanks Kathy, good job.👍✨💡
Dear Katherine, Idioms in this lesson are the perfectly gifted to me by your great personality. This adds spice to my chat . HOPE TO SEE YOU. Regards. Thanks,
thank you so much Teacher we really appreciate your help and efforts, i really enjoy the way you explain the idioms and that make us have a. strong vocabulary
Hi Catherine! Thanks again for wonderful lesson. Idioms play a great role in language. They add a beauty to it. They always have a symbolic meaning rather than literal one.
Thanks for the video! There're many videos on RUclips that offer you 100 or 50 "most common" English idioms. I usually don't watch them, because that's too many. I think a lesson with 5-10 idioms is the best format, at least for me.
Hi Katharine brightness in your eyes, brightness in your expression and brightness in your soul makes this video very much effective.Thanks a lot for this lovely video ❤❤
Hi Katharine, I think this video is information-packed. I enjoyed every minute of it. The idiomatic expressions you have chosen are beautiful and can be used in our daily social communication. It's very kind and generous of you to teach them to us. Thank you. I'll be looking forward to seeing you next Friday.
Great idioms for easy incorporation into the vocabulary. And on top of that it is ineffably well presented.😮 I am loving it … have a great and hopefully sunny weekend. 😊
Hello, Katharine.😊 I find those idioms both interesting and useful, yet most of which I wasn't familiar with. I'd say variety has been the spice of life since I came across your channel, which I absolutely find appealing and engaging. My most favorite one is No.5, which does sound lovely and so true. I'm such a logophile. I'd be delighted if you could roll out more and more. Thanks a bunch.💐
Thank you, dear Katharine, for all your amazing lessons! I especially enjoy these about idioms and colloquialisms! By the way, it is really very good to have spiders in the house! And I am looking forward to your live broadcast!!!
@katharine mam the way you explain was simple awesome, especially those difficult words even though they are hard to spell its a "cake walk" to you, you deserve best linguist of the decade!!!!!🥳
Thank you! "Same deep water as you" of The Cure from "Disintegration" is in my head for the rest of the day. Though was guessing the meaning before, it is important you say it. ❤
Hello, Katharine. I could enjoy very much again with your today's post. Most impressive idiom for me should be, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I guess that has similar meaning with "There is no accounting for tastes", right? I suppose "Beauty is in ..." is much more elegant way and I'd like to use it some day when I am in such a situation as to comment the same. Have a nice day♪
Hi Katharine, you did it once more, it was a so interesting video, I have to give credit to the spider too that made you so expressive when it appear! It would be so nice if you can include the two "a" topic as you mentioned in future videos, thanks for the happiness that you irradiate each friday, bye!
Hi Katharine, I love your videos. I am actually binge watching them all. I adore your accent 💓 I couldn’t stand there teaching, whilst a giant spider is sitting on the wall above my head 😅 x
Hi Katharine I am a doctor from India planning to migrate to the UK. I frequently watch GB news on RUclips and also Talk Tv . From what I can gather after watching these is that there is a lot of illegal migration which has taken place in Britain in the years gone by leading to increase in crime and general destruction of British culture and customs. I heard the other day there were hoardings celebrating Ramadan but none for Easter. There are frequent protests and marches supporting Palestine and Hamas. My main purpose of planning to move to the UK was to experience a new culture basically British culture and not make money unlike other immigrants. What's your take on all this?
~~~~ Fine-tuned Arrow ~~~~ Drinking your idioms with care and delight, I get drunk from you, spellbinding Katharine; Magnificent muse, exquisite Essex Queen Whose fine-tuned arrow plunged into my heart. Pronouncing your name, whether loud or low, It is a long sigh, from my chest coming That tonight will reach your patio, your window, Bearer of love words and of sea breezes. f. 😘🌹❤
Dear teacher, I like the content of your lessons. Can you also introduce the British humour to us one day if possible and how can we respond to it properly? I am totally at a loss when it comes to British humour.
