You're Eating Arsenic Laced Rice...Here's How To Avoid It!

- Depending on where your rice is from, what type it is, or how you cook it, it may have elevated levels of the heavy metal arsenic. Arsenic and heavy metals can be found naturally in the ground, but certain areas are more affected by pollution and modern farming. I would highly recommend only eating rice from low arsenic areas like California, and make sure to wash and rinse it well. Better yet, just opt for nutrient dense wild rice, which is vastly superior when it comes to macros and has zero heavy metals.

We’re Asian and we eat rice with almost everything. Yes of course you must rinse your rice very well. My grandparents ate rice every single day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day and lived until their 90s. But of course, they never ate processed foods. My grandmother went to the open market every Wednesday, and bought only meats, fish and fresh vegetables and fruits. That’s it. What’s funny, is that my grandpa smoked a pipe and my grandma smoked cigarettes ( with the butt inside her mouth) common in their province. But I believe because they never stressed about life and were always calm and joyful, they lived long lives. Could be too of genetics! Who knows, but God bless them … I loved living with them for three years and seeing a different approach to food and life!
What god are you wanting them to be blessed by,the god(s) of Asians as I know they believe Buddha is god or a god,or how about the god(s) of Egypt,Rome,Greece,Islam,e.t.c I exclude the God of Abraham Isaac and Yacob because he has proven himself the true creator who answered when the pagan gods did not. 💁🤔 if it's not Yahuah (YAH)then your plea falls on deaf ears for pagan gods have no power to grant anything. Not even those HUMAN religious men who fed on the idolatry of their own ethnic group. they are not even aware that people call on them for death has stolen that awareness away just as it has done to everyone who has died but has not resurrected themselves. YAH said he will not share honor and worship with other gods whom the people love.
Agreed. These are fear channels with social media influencers

No wonder there are so many cancer etc. we don’t know what to eat and who to trust anymore 🥴
Believe it or not...cancer is man made
One thing a person can do to lower their risk for cancer is to stop eating processed foods & processed sugar. If a person can't stop at least cut back. The rise in cancer is commensurate with the rise in processed foods & availability of processed sugar. Even more? People who give their sugar laden "food" plus processed "food" to their pets are increasing their pets risk for cancer & dental problems that make the pet very grouchy because they are in extreme dental pain.
@@FreeSpirit47 cheap pet foods also cause cancer. I’ve asked many people I’ve associated with who have dogs with tumors, “what kind of food do you use”?. It’s almost always a cheap dog food.
@Grace Bressi Most people are too lazy and want a quick fix. I think it's part of this instant gratification culture we've created. The daily long lines at these fast food restaurants just blows my mind! People like to argue about the expense of organic foods but, you see them blowing money on excess garbage they dont need. The rice in the southern US is grown in fields that use to be cotton fields. They used arsenic to kill the boll weevil bugs. Even though the field has been changed from cotton to rice, they are still contaminated. It is estimated that arsenic can have a residence time life of 9000 years in the soil. I have been buying my rice from California growers for years.
Can you provide a link to purchase? Thank you!

I’m on a gluten free intermittent detox, so I consume rice on daily basis. For someone like me, with heavy metal toxicity, this is what my holistic doctor told me to do. Any rice needs to be washed with bicarbonate till water is clear, parboil for 10 minutes max, drain the dirty water and replace with fresh new water. Wipe down the sides of the pot, you’ll notice a lot of the dirt tends to bind there.
Also I’d like to add that arsenics are sprayed on fruits and veggies, so soak in sodium bicarbonate for 10+ minutes. The bicarbonate molecules bind to metals.
I can not find any studies verifying out even suggesting this is true.

I'm Vietnamese and when my cousin was a baby back in the late 70's early 80's our family were poor so whenever my aunt cooked rice, she would washed it, and then saved the rice water to feed my cousin. He's smarter than all of our family members combined. I believe genetics also played a role but it's interesting seeing his life now compared to his childhood.

My preferred brand of rice is jasmine rice. Washing my rice before cooking has been my practice for years. In addition to washing, I also add about a tablespoon and a half of apple cider vinegar to the water prior to cooking, per 4 to 5 cups of rice. The vinegar preserves the rice from spoiling, reduces arsenic levels, and promotes digestive and gut health. Thanks for your video advice.

The traditional Indian way of cooking rice is to wash it well a few times and add it to water in the pan after the water comes to a boil. For one measure of rice boil 5-6 measures of water. And enough water as required to maintain that ratio as the rice gets cooked. When the rice has been cooked to your desired softness, turn off the stove and empty the contents into a big enough colander until the starchy water is fully drained. The transfer the rice back to the container.
This method not only removes arsenic and other contaminants to a high degree, but also removes the excess starch, making it ideal for diabetics, calorie watchers, those on a diet, etc.
Yes this is how I learned the best way to make rice healthy. I quit eating rice 30yrs ago reading how bad it was in starch and arsenic. Now I can eat it again.
I think rice taste best when you measure 1cup of rice to 2 cups water .bring to boil and put lid on.then have another burner ready to steam rice for about 20 minutes.
My mother in law taught me years ago.
Turns out good eveytime.
I of course rinse the rice using my hands a number of times before i cook. No getting rid of starch.
However much rice you use just add double the water. 2 to 1 ratio.
And put lid on quick after comes to boil. Then steam on low to med.
For other people who would like to know, rice with the least arsenic is Basmati rice from the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, and Jasmine rice from Thailand.
How to Prepare & Cook Rice to Remove Most Arsenic
*Rinse/wash rice repeatedly until the water is as clear as you can get it
*Soak your rice overnight - this opens up the grain and allows the arsenic to escape
*Drain the rice and rinse thoroughly with fresh water
*For every part rice add five parts water and cook until the rice is tender - do not allow it to boil dry.
*Drain the rice and rinse again with hot water to get rid of the last of the cooking water.
Share a video about this please.
Do you do all this for white rice, or just brown rice? Brown rice does need soaking for digestibility reasons.

@@palefeathervaldez3563 No.... First, white rice has almost nutrients in it in the first place, so you're only washing away starch which makes for fluffier rice. If you're eating brown rice or wild rice, you're still not washing away nutrients...where exactly do you think the nutrients are? On the dust on the outside?

In Persian cooking, white rice is used , we wash 3 times and then soak with very salty water for a min one hour before boiling it (rice silos often attract rats and they leave their faeces behind). Once I became aware of recent studies and how to effectively remove the Arsenic, I first wash 3 times, then soak 3 times, each min 30 minutes then pour off the water and then finally soak with salt for one to two hours, then pour off the water and boil it. Baes on this study I found, this way, you remove up to 95% of the Arsenic. Given, you will not reach 100% Arsenic free rice, sticking to moderation in consuming rice and any other food items makes a lot of sense.
I think I will try this. Thank you.

Since the 1950's my mom always rinsed the rice before cooking it, especially when she made Spanish rice (the rice comes out fluffier).
:/ I literally gave myself arsonic poisoning from eating rice over the span of 2-3months. Just got on a wild homemade sushi and fried rice kick eating at least 3-4 dried cup measurements of rice every day atleast 6 days a week (some days I ate 5-7 dried cups),. All thse cups rinsed and cooked in a normal rice cooker. Ate alot of seaweed to which didn't help the arsonic.
Welp 1 month in I was fine, 2nd month I was feeling oddly sickly not to sure why. Also got this new very odd aftertaste after coughing like a metalic/eggy/throwup taste. Getting into that 3rd month I kenw something was up. Was getting a stinging in my nervs in the joints of my fingers like my nervs were being pinched. I started to get warts on my face and on my hair line especially right at my neckhair line. Lots of bumpy lesions. One on my cheek was a straight up black wart as well as another one near my front hair line. Was feeling awful. Mind you I'm not just eating rice, I"m eating lots of veggies and fruits to as normal.
Welp after realzing this thing on my face isn't just a zit gone bad, it struck me that oh snap wait this is a wart. Instantly remembered a video back to a nutritionfacts video about rice/arsonic/warts relations. Went to the doc and had them test me and yep I straight gave myself arsenic poising and pretty sever to having gone at it constantly 3months.
After the diagnosis I just cut off rice cold turkey. By now I was litterly bed ridden constantly coughing with the worst breath known to man from the arsenic effecting my gut. Called a week off work to recover. Within that week everything momentarily finally went away. Depending on what I eat like junkfood the symptoms would come back particularly the taste. Just takes alot of time to pretty much pee out all the arsonic in me.
Fast forward 2 months and I'm pretty good now. All the warts are gone but the one on my cheek that slowly is widdling itself away. All the other warts went away pretty easily like the ones on my neck hair line and the one near my front hair line. Everyday they'd scale over and I'd peel them little by little every day till they're completely gone. The one on my cheek being the exception as it grows as I eat bad and goes away as I stick to eating healthy, but overall as my arsonic goes down it gets noticeably easier to widdle at.
Arsnoic is no joke. Im asian I ate rice all the time growing up, but recently I went way to ham on the stuff lol. Rice was the main dish for breakfast lunch and dinner. Not just a bowl here and there, I was eating literal rice cookers worth every day sometimes 2 rice cookers worth. I'm a fit guy to not fat not even average by american standards. I guess that also adds to my susceptibility to arsenic being smaller. But yea, arsenic in rice is no joke if if you really push it.
For reference I was mainly eating sushi rice in those 20lb totes, and jasmine rice here and there. Also washed the rice multiple times before coolking every time. Washing ain't going to do enough to stop the arsenic.
Can't wait for the baby food video! I read an article that even organic baby food had a lot of metal. I also saw a method of parboiling with absorption method by Sci Tech Daily to remove most arsenic from rice while keeping the nutrients.
My mother always washed the rice... so I grew up doing the same. It was a shocker to me when I found out as an adult that some people didn't wash their rice. Wash or not it seems like we all have to cut back on rice until rice manufactures can find a way to remove the arsenic or the government force them to do it which is the more likely scenario.
Thank you Bobby your one of the fortunate ones
My mother knew about this and always washed the rice a couple of times before making it. I’ve been washing my rice since i started cooking, but have moved over to quinoa already.
While you are right with your content. I think it is important to give ALL information and not just say US rice is best. To be clear rice from different regions will contain different levels of arsenic. Study shows that white basmati rice from California, Pakistan and India are lower arsenic region's for rice. Also ppl can pick quinoa, buckwheat, and millet is also know to be on the lower arsenic level. It's true Texas is the worst place to get rice from due to they have highest-rated arsenic levels. Most importantly due your OWN research as it is always easier to listen to someone given you the information it always better to follow up for your own knowledge.🙂

But I think he's saying to get it local because it's something you can be sure that if it says California it's from California. Like the olive oil issue sometimes the rice candy from Asia but not tell you exactly where in Asia so you're not sure. Just a thought as to why he said California was the best choice.
Hey I just wanted to say that I'm so impressed with your abundance of knowledge when it comes to healthy eating that when I teach my nutrition class at the modeling school I work at in Rocky Hill,CT,I tell my students to subscribe to your channel while in teaching basic nutrition.I teach a new batch of kids(men or women once a week on average wt 12 to 15 students on average.just keep giving me good content like you have been doing and I'll keep doing my part to promote your channel 👍🤗
Many thanks for the good advice.
Wild Rice For Now On..THANKS FOR THE INFO. 😊
Thank you for sharing and helping us understand alternatives to minimize our arsenic exposure. It’s good we have plants that clean our environment, but it’s also important to know which foods are hanging on to those toxins.
Even though I had already heard of this, your video was not only easy to follow but highly informative!
Thanks for your insight ❤
Thanks so much. I had no idea.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us! I have heard to rinse your rice first before cooking, and I never did. I truly appreciate you sharing the reason why. Thank you.
Glad grandma washes her rice, she from the Carribbean so they wash everything lol, which is good
We jamaicans do wash our rice before cooking it.
Let’s get something clear all the information that Bobby provides is great. The body can adapt and I believe that if you have to walk on eggshells to watch what you eat what happens when there comes in time when you can’t eat all these clean healthful foods?
Thank you for this video
This is a super informative channel. I appreciate all of the hard work that you dedicate to it for yourself, your family, and all of us here. Thank you Bobby!
Please, can you do an episode on how to cook wild rice?
please
Thxs for the heads up on rice .
Gonna have to research this
I am happy that I came across this video. I heard about arsenic in rice and I was wondering what I should do with my big bag of organic brown rice from California. Now I feel better about eating it. Thanks for the washing tip.
Thanks, this was a reminder to me, I heard about it years ago and washed my black rice for a while until I got lax and quit. I will definitely start washing it again. Everyone needs to know this information 👍
Thanks for that tip
Thank you so much ❤️
Again, like always, you never fail us, deliver more than we expect...Awesome information! God bless.
This may sound funny but going to sleep early 8-10pm is crucial because this is when your body detoxes and we can see how important that is nowadays! You never know what you may be eating. This is also why detoxes for everyone are super useful. Quarterly cleanses are a fantastic way to keep the body clear of stuff like this 🙂
Can you elaborate on the cleanses?
My health has gone downhill working nights. It's very hard to keep up with when you can't get enough sleep and it's not night time hours. 😢
thanks for the headsup.
Great info, thx!
I really value your reviews! As a Vegan rice was one of my stables...I substitute with quinoa and other grains as well.
Dam it Bobby now I gotta wash rice ugh 🤦♀️
🤣
💀💀
Always 😁
It'll make your rice better.
Had no idea. I do wash my rice but will switch to the wild rice from now on. Please keep the information coming. I am trying to eat clean but the US does not look after our health!
Thank you.
The operative word in the Lumberg product is 'blend' which includes regular, arsenic-laden black, brown, and red rice. It's on the back of the packaging.
