- www.autobytel.com/audi/a8/?id=... The 2012 Audi A8 is a perfect example of what a full sized luxury sedan should be. On the outside the Audi A8 is beautiful from the grill all the way to the taillights, under the hood lies a powerful V-8 engine, and inside the driver and passengers are treated to an ultra luxurious experience. But owning a high end luxury car does not come cheap. The base model (normal wheelbase) has an MSRP of $78,750, while the Long Wheelbase version tested here starts at $84,700. But the ultimate 2012 Audi A8 is the Long Wheelbase edition with the W12 engine which starts at $133,500.
The 2012 Audi A8-L is powered by a 4.2 liter V-8 engine that produces 372 horsepower and 328 lb-ft. of torque. While not the most powerful car in the full sized luxury segment; the engine in combination with an 8-speed automatic transmission does a great job of putting the power down to the ground through standard Quattro all-wheel drive. The 2012 Audi A8-L can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 5.8 seconds. Fuel economy is excellent with the A8 netting 18 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. The engine is exposed which is great and there are wonderfully contrasting colors in the engine bay that really grab your attention.
On the outside the 2012 Audi A8 is a very stylish car which is sure to get you noticed. The massive chrome grill looks great and really stands out. The Xenon headlights combined with the world famous LED running lights are signature Audi. The A8 also has a set of huge 19-inch alloy wheels at all four corners.
On the inside the Audi A8 is plenty spacious with enough room for 4 adults and all their belongings. The A8-L is the long wheelbase version and this platform stretches the amount of interior room a couple more inches. The interior of the car makes you feel like you are in a luxurious living room. Everything is beautiful and Audi did a great job of finding the perfect balance between woods and metals that make up the trim pieces. All the buttons and controls are top notch since Audi understands what a luxury buyer demands. The A8-L is a real driver's car; it is response and fun to drive.
The 2012 Audi A8 is a true joy to drive. It you are going to spend $80k on a high end luxury car then you owe it to yourself to take a long test drive. When shopping for a full sized luxury automobile make a checklist and compare the various cars in the segment. Audi has really captured the essence of what a luxury car should be with the 2012 Audi A8-L.

"Congratulations you've reached a point in your life were you can afford an Audi A8"
*Whispers to self* that's me
Audi A8 for me cause the Transporter has one
This is a professional overview . Excellent presenter
Great review! The A8 is awesome.
this guy gives the best reviews on any vehicle!
hes great
Very well done, thank you sir.
Short, concise, understated class, top quality without flamboyance - just like the car being reviewed.
This car (2012) can now be had for around $50,000 - lease trade-ins abound. I have been thinking of turning in my 2007 A6 Quattra 3.2, but the new A6's are well over $50K. For that price, I may as well step up to my dream car in a 3 year-old version - THIS ONE - for the same price or less.
The self-closing door is is an option on the A6 as well...still a great car though :)
the a8L has a ride height ajust for those conditions i dont know how high it does raise but i know it does raise up quite a bit Good luck
So sir, how would U compare S8 with this A8?
Which one should be bought?
Why have you left Autobytel?
@007Justus - it's all subjective brother. Both are well made.
I love how LED head lights aren't even standard on this car yet every a8 has them.
Does the a8 still have the air suspension?
i love my s8 audi
how many it's burns on 100km???
I love the A8 but they need to revamp that steering wheel. Looks like something I would see in an A3 or chevy cruz
Where are you filming this, pls respond
you say every car is awesome and is ur top pick
Definitely on my radar, this car. Not sure if I would drive it or rather be chauffeured in it. I think chauffeured :-).
Does it drive on water?
The fact that Audi, like a Suburu with AWD makes these cars
far superior to their competition...
If you live in an area with winter snow and ice, there's virtually
no situation that will impede you...
My dad had this car for six months. The luxury is nice but being in and out of the dealer for parts and services five times in six months is ridiculous. He wound up getting a CLS 4matic loaded up with all available options.
Anyone noticed about the bmw m3 at 3:06? :D
S Class is the way to go. It is the original luxury flag ship sedan.
3:13 He didnt stop at the stop sign, that is 80,000$ fine
Really? Which ones?
wa dep...chuan.
I can't wait till I can get one of these in 10 years for $12K ;) yeah, perhaps even an S8 with 0-60 in 3.5 sec!
I'm starting to save up for the maintenance now but guys AUDI is getting better - up 18 places in Consumer Reports so perhaps she'll be reliable!
So
@@MostlyHappyFella Bloody Toyota Highlander :(
@@JacanaProductions That ain't that bad dude, who knows? Maybe you'll be able to get it soon
The Cheapest A8 i found it in 11k
And the cheapest S8 was in 27k
😂 its 2021 just found one for $15,000 in NC with 150k miles though
2022, just got one for 11k 140k miles in Fl, love it
The door thing, a BMW 6 series does that as well. Personally, I will take the XJ.
self closing doors are in my 2003 S-class Mercedes :P
The self closing door is pretty standard now a days for anything over 50k
Look the date of when the video was posted...
not the only 4x4 in this class anymore. There is Jaguar Xj with 4x4 wheel drive.
100.000$@@ quá đắt cho 1 cuộc tình :)
Mercedes S-class has 4matic all wheel drive option, and BMW has X-drive option for it's 7 series. And of coarse both of those have soft door close feature as well. This review seems a bit misleading
His point is the All Wheel Drive is Standard on the A8, not optional.
see one for 34k. I definitely think I want it. I'm just afraid of what it'll cost when i take it to the shop.
Wendell Johnson Thats why it's 34k.. Everyone else is asking the same question.. I own a 2015 and repairs are insane. I paid 49k all in. This generation of A8 is very reliable. If you want the car but fear repairs buy it at Carmax and get the warranty..
@Erick Onassis They are actually super reliable!! I have one and its amazing! and been amazing!
@@DeeJayAdverb Generic statement, I doubt it
@@IIOctaneII Only issue was air suspension compressor and ABS sensor pass front. I did sell it and picked up Sepang Blue RS5 it was featured in a Throttle House video :)
in my country the fine ist about 100 $
He's actually right. Mercedes has had self closing doors on their S Class since the 90s and even most BMWs already have soft closing doors as an option. Nothing new here.
You don't even have to push a button for the trunk... just swipe your foot under the back of the car.
To be fair, he says the Audi is the ONLY one to offer it standard.
7 series all the way
just between $70 and $100k, for an A8? that kind of money buys you a nice A6 or a really nice A4 here in The Netherlands. just checked the audi.nl website, that model you are driving starts at €138k here. and thats the 0 options model, so no self closing doors, with some nice options you will easely get to €160 or €170K.
I like when he was like, "fuck these stop signs, when i buy a luxury car i dnt expect to follow these bitch ass road rules."
They need telematics in their cars like BMW, Merc and Lexus
If your right handed & living in UK, the touchpad is next to useless
He must be a Florida driver
Ultra-Luxury Land Yacht that you can afford thanks to depreciation. An extended warranty would definitely be smart, though.
I don't see how that was necessary.
and the S class too
because japanese cars are cheaply made. this is a work of art
what?? 80,000 dollars, in Holland you pay $150,000 for a A8 l
Self closing doors is just the epitomeof laziness.
Mercedes-Benz has the self closing door in it s class in the 1999 model. Nothing new.
This must be the cheapest version of the A8L. It has none of the climate controls on the armrest.
Ooooo
The S class L is much, much bigger inside
Hey that rolling stop at the first stop sign will get you a ticket buddy. Lol. Good review, but Audi? Lol. Good car, but styling is subjective. I'll take the BMW look over Audi. Again, it's subjective.
If you're left handed & living in US LIKE ME, the touchpad is next to useless
If Japanese designed the same nose for their cars, everyone would've started yelling how ugly it is.
H
I have never bothered with a youtube comment .........Wow , anyone with at least one eyeball could have sorted what you claim to be a review .....The worst ever .... Now I know why top gear is the number one rated TV show in the world .
This is a car
yes if u want more stuff u probably dont know what is... lol
I would say it depends, if they keep it classy and balance no one would complain (Well actually you can never satisfy 100% of your customers) but look at Lexus and their prototypes . . . they look hideous.
NO. It only depends how prejudiced are th epoeple about European and Japanese cars. I think pretty much all the prototypes of all car makes are hideous. However, Lexus models are way better looking than AUDIs as a whole. Audis are the dieous looking ones with that ginormous grill.
U mad bro?
the real a8l is a v12
I FUCKING HATE MY LIFE!
Its to fat its lost its sleekness
Audi cars look ok but the interior is lacking for that kind of price. If this is the L version I would hate to sit in a regular length 4 door. No one keeps them after the warranty dies.hahaha
i hate this stupid selfclosing doors! it makes you look like a total idiot when using them
lol this guys sucks on selling cars
most cars now have self closings doors
why would u want to drive an a8.... like a limo driver...
To be fair, he says the Audi is the ONLY one to offer it standard.
