Absolutely amazing!! Great teaching. This tutorial is pure perfection! Detailed explanation. Perfect speed. Soothing voice. Just a completely enjoyable creative experience. From a beginner to a pro I Thank you.
This is truly awesome! Good, accesible explanation even for a dummy like me and a beautiful, soothing voice... really enjoyable and relaxing way to spend an hour or so. Thank you!
Have anybody ever said that your are like a printer just started from the top gradually detailing getting down from left to right. I had to see the vedio again at 1.5x just to watch you make this like a printer. BTW absolutely amazing it will definitely help me a ton
I had to pause this just to say how wonderfully Beautiful this is! WOW. I am a huge fan of your work, the way you can make anything look like its real right in front of you and not drawn at all amazes me to no end. Right from beginning to end I am captivated. YOU Sir are AMAZING! ok, back to watching now lol.
Beautiful seascape, and great tutorial. You explain everything so well as you go. This is by far one of the best videos for drawing. Gorgeous graphite artwork, and so realistic, Thanks for making your amazing RUclips videos.
How can anyone dislike someone else's creativity? No matter how good or not so good the creativity is, there's no need for negativity which can hurt people's feelings, Don't like the artwork? then just move on there's no need to leave a thumbs down... .... These are among the best pencil / watercolour artworks I've ever seen.
I totally agree, I have to say I never ever gave anyone a thumbs down...I don't see the point, It would be better if the person would be constructive and say what they don't like, but the person who left me a thumbs down is a troll that thumbs down every video I make, it doesn't bother me at all, in fact I find it quite amusing that someone should go to such trouble, but hey thanks for your kind words and support, its very much appreciated :)
LOL Oh I see :) well thank you Barbara, I thought your comment was meant for eliium. You are always supportive too, I always appreciate your comments. thank you:)
I keep coming back to this picture. I'm in awe. For me, this is the most intimidating of your work. I keep watching it and will someday summon up the courage to attempt it. Kisses
"Intimidating" my intension was for it to be inspiring :) I can promise you its not as difficult as it looks, give it a go Virginia....nothing ventured, nothing gained :)
i have to thank you, i have watched alot of your videos now and you have helped my drawing no end. when i first watched you make a drawing i couldnt fathum hou you were creating somthing from nothing. it inspired me to dig mumy untouched charcoles out the cubored. 4 months later and i can watch you draw somthing like this and actuly follow the teckneeks your using. its such a satisfing hobby to have so thanks
Thank you for your kind comment, I appreciate it very much, its great to hear you are getting results with your drawing, I agree, its a very satisfying hobby!
Hi Smoothie77, I can't thank you enough for your amazing instructional videos. I've begun to find a new pathway in terms of pencil drawing. Thank you so much. One thing I am desperately struggling to achieve is the way you manage to draw and erase all the movement splashes on a wave ! At the moment it seems beyond me!
Beautiful work Smoothie. It's evident by your pencil strokes and as you talk through this video that you feel the waters movement - your understanding of the subject comes straight through to the final drawing. Enjoy seeing your work - I've subscribed.
Thank you Mary, Its always good to try to have an understanding of the scene, I try hard to get that across in the finished drawing, I often find movement and direction difficult aspects to capture, thanks again for subscribing, much appreciated!
When you done that final layer of water at the front, then pulled the blending stump down for shadows, I thought "oh no! He ruined it at the end. It looks like a ledge" then you went back in with the pencil eraser and made horizontal foam marks and it really made it quite brilliant. Can really see the movement in the waves. Something I haven't been able to master yet... well done and thanks
At first I thought the value is too close, not until 18:30, I did really "vow", it looks like a different drawing, it must have taken you hours and days to finish such a wonderful drawing. I love those amazing white splashes on top of the wave as well. You've done a real great job!
I think it took about 5 hours in total to complete the drawing, I took my time and did it over several evenings, I agree the tones did look very close at the start, my camera can make it look a little washed out too, the photo at the end is closer to the picture in reality.
Oh. I almost forgot you are an expert, sorry about that....I never seen a sea wave in pencil drawing, this one is superb indeed, not just because of the realistic wave, love the background as well, it looks like dawning. Thanks.
Good day Mr. Smoothie. Granted this video is a few years old, I am actually working on a seascape picture. I am also still learning, a process that never ends but in a good way. I was curious if you had a short video or would consider making a quick short video on how you create clouds as you did in this video, small clouds thus not to take away from the focal point area. I would be so so grateful. Thank you also for all your time and work you share with us all.
I love your tutorial it's easy to follow, I'm learning to draw at 60 so hope I'm going to be able to do this justice seeing as I'm jumping in at the deep end lol. thanks for sharing your talent. From new Zealand

I'm really glad I found this video! I think it is the best ocean scape drawing on RUclips! I've watched it several times and keep missing how you make the foam a part of the wave. I've subscribed, please, please, please do another!!!
