Years ago when my husband was alive we had a large garden and it seemed that the more beans you picked the more came along. Aside from cooking them as a vegetable I made mustard beans and dilled beans so we were eating them well into winter.
Life with Tipper and the Deer Hunter, it's a beautiful thing to see! I love coming by when you two are working in the garden, it's just such a peaceful place. You two work so good together in the garden and in the house. I know that the Deer Hunter works inside as much as outside helping to put up the food. You two are heartwarming to watch. I am so very proud of you both!
Very nice to sit in on your garden conversations with Matt. As we get into our senior years we gradually become the last survivor and there are fewer and fewer left to converse with. Until the last ten days or so here in central Texas the heat and drought was very oppressive and now days in the lower 90's almost seem like an early autumn. The locusts singing their summer song in the background take my memories back to always because never a summer goes by without hearing them . Thanks for taking us along for a very special day in the garden . Best regards to you and yours.
I had a friend that had seed saved an heirloom variety that her father had seed saved and the okra could get big and stay tender. I wish I had some of her seeds! I live in town and have recently retired and want to start gardening more. Your videos are so grounding for me. I feel like a friend and neighbor. I thank you for sharing your life with us.

I agree with Matt too, I don't handle the heat and humidity like I used too, I think it's changed as I have gotten older..Although I enjoy summer as a whole, I can tolerate colder weather easier..
I love the sounds of the peepers in the Spring. I love to hear the cicadas also. ☺️It is a relaxing sound, but sad for me bc summer will be coming to a close shortly. It brings Winter closer and I'm not happy about that. 🙁
Growing up on the farm, mom always canned what she called “cellar soup” because that’s where we stored it. All the different veggies from the garden. It was so good on cold winter days.
Love the garden/popsicle talks you and Matt share. I pulled up my tomato plants except for the Cherokee purple it has two marble size tomatoes. I'm holding out hope. Also we are in a drought but the last 3 days we've gotten over 3 inches. We had a storm Friday that blew a tree down in my yard but thankfully it didn't hit my house. I'm not complaining we so needed the rain.
I saved watching this until the end of the day because I knew how soothing it would be to spend time with you & Matt in the garden. Growing up in southern California we called a bad cloudburst like that a gullyswamper. In desert country you never want to bed down in a dry creek bed because of the danger of flash floods. Even though it's all clear skies where you are, it might be raining upstream.
I love watching your videos. I live in West Virginia and I love hearing about your family and their traditions. I am also a subscriber to your girls too. Just watching the meals that you cook makes my mouth water. Keep up your wonderful work!
I love to hear the wildlife in your garden, it is totally different to mine in England. My garden now is mainly flowers, shrubs and trees although I do have seem raised beds with a dwarf apple tree, a strawberry patch, french beans, runner beans, blueberry bush and tomatoes. I only have five tomato plants which my son tends as he seems to have the magic touch. I have some small planters with radish and beetroot but the radish bolted in the freak heat. The malabar spinach has made about 6feet in height but I am hopeful for a picking to steam. The bottom of the garden is kept as a wild garden with native wild flowers. There is a small pond for frogs and hedgehogs and birds to use. We have a lot of wild bird feeders which we keep filled all year round. Would love a day in your garden, especially with the popsicles!
We are years behind in our garnering journey…drought and limited growing season in the mountains here has me praying for the times we have the plenty you are receiving 💚🙏🏻

Oh my goodness, those okra plant flowers are absolutely gorgeous! I'm always amazed at the flora and fauna that grows in rainy, humid parts of the country. Just beautiful!
Tipper I don’t if you or Matt has ever tried this but we love em this way and that’s if y’all have some big turnips. Cut them up like French fries and fry them that way they are really good. Try it and we love the purple and seven top sallet. Oh I while y’all was eating the corn earlier have you ever tried it just leave in the shuck and put in microwave for 3 min. And just shuck it and eat it that way or like you do I do it too is cut off the cob. But I sure do enjoy ya video. God Bless
Hi Tipper, Glad to see your beautiful garden doing so well. It brings back great memories. I’ve not be on YT lately-I’ve been dealing with some health issues. I’ve really missed y’all! I felt so badly for the folks involved in the floods and those suffering from too little water. 🙏🏻
Tipper, you just need a bee hive to make your garden complete. I robbed mine the other day and pull off 12 quarts. I really enjoyed this "reflection" video.
I've never seen an Okra bloom before. Sooo pretty!! You and your family have such an amazingly beautiful paradise within your garden. The hard work and sacrifices that make it all happen have been a journey that I have so much enjoyed being a part of. THANK YOU for taking the time to share! ❤🙂🙏
I don't usually watch the videos where people just sit and talk but for some reason yours is just enjoying and I love you husband since of humor so funny, reminds me of the old days in the late '60s early 70s when my grandparents would tease each other or what I call country sense of humor I enjoy hearing the wildlife in the background with casadia singing.
Oh Tipper! Your sweet face tells the whole story of how hard working in the summer garden is! You encourage me so much to soldier on. It is such a blessing to have a garden. The world is a crazy place. Somehow, the joy of a popsicle after hard work, has become my new favorite tradition. Thank you! Truly, " a spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down!"
I am the silliest thing. I actually got a little disappointed when you said you weren't going to show pulling the beets. Then I was excited when I saw the beets dropping into the bucket. Bless you both.
Hi Tipper, We had okra often when we lived overseas when I was a child. Always loved it. So this video brings back nice memories. By the way, whenever you're with Matt, your face just lights up! It's beautiful. Must be true love! Well, he is a handsome devil and a good man, who stands by his family. That's the best kind of man there is. God bless!

Finally some quiet time to watch. Tried between church time. But helping a friend through the loss of her sister, so on the phone a lot. But that's what we are suppose to do lift others up. I love your garden and the sound of the cicadas in the background. It's 9 :10 pm as I watch this. It's very calming.
My father in law taught me something about planting okra. After the getting the row ready to plant, you have to stand up and drop the seeds into the ground and very lightly cover with dirt. I asked why. He told me that standing up and dropping the seeds allows it to fall with the seed in the correct position for growing. As we harvested the okra, I looked back at the ones I planted incorrectly the plant did not produce as well at the ones planted standing up and dropping the seeds. I wished I liked beets. I can’t find a way I like them. I remember my mom would take half a cantaloupe and fill it full of vanilla ice cream.
Forgot what all went into making a garden but we found out this summer when my brother made one and me and my sister agreed to help make it. It was really hard work but very rewarding to see all the vegetables that we had grown. Love watching your videos.
As hot a job as it is I wish I was in the green beans with you picking. I love picking them, so peaceful listening to the wildlife around you. And then getting that harvest in the house and preserving it. Oh, and eating a big mess of them with some cornbread. YUM
You and Matt have a lot to be proud of in that garden, Tipper. Your hard work really shows. Everything looks terrific. We are approaching a milestone. Although we've had some cherry tomatoes in the last few weeks, we will pick our first few slicing tomatoes in the next day or two. As you know, that is a very exciting day. Have a wonderful week!
Tipper - you spoke of eating stew three days in a row......as a girl and right to today, my family and I all think the flavors meld better with the 'aging' and by the time the stew is finished that is when it tastes the best! Favorite meals are often the left overs warmed up the next day. I just love your videos and look forward to every post. I know I've said this before, but thank you for sharing your lives with us. I couldn’t believe the first time I heard you say Okry because that is the same way I grew up saying it and still do. My husband Larry, and I made a garden this year and it was beautiful. The Lord has blessed ya'll with such bounty from your garden. Love your popsicle break chats. Like Matt I'm done with summer and looking forward to fall. I know what The Deer Hunter is lookin ' forward to!
It is so good to see you and your magnificent garden. I was worried that the floods had done damage in your region. Appalachia was mentioned in the news, and I immediately thought of you. Stay safe! God bless, Greetings from AZ.
I love these quiet videos. It's soothing to watch the labor of the day's harvest and enjoyment a cold treat while passing the time with slow conversation. It's a sweet visit with friends.
Bowl, basket, bucket and pail.... what a bounty. And the joy of getting it with your own hands by the sweat of your brow.. Wow.
I think Matt could fight the weather and whop it pretty good. Stay safe
I laughed out loud about the bean vine trying to attach to you and grow. God’s creation is so amazing!
God Bless
We will have to try that with turnips 😀
You guys bring a peaceful feeling to simple living with hard work.
Hi Tipper, Glad to see your beautiful garden doing so well. It brings back great memories.
I’ve not be on YT lately-I’ve been dealing with some health issues. I’ve really missed y’all!
I felt so badly for the folks involved in the floods and those suffering from too little water. 🙏🏻
Thank you! Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. I pray you are better soon!!
Tipper, you just need a bee hive to make your garden complete. I robbed mine the other day and pull off 12 quarts. I really enjoyed this "reflection" video.
I would love to have bees 😀 Glad you enjoyed this one Jason!
You are so kind-thank you 😀
Gardening in the heat of summer is hard. Stay hydrated and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
I am the silliest thing. I actually got a little disappointed when you said you weren't going to show pulling the beets. Then I was excited when I saw the beets dropping into the bucket. Bless you both.
😀
Hi Tipper, We had okra often when we lived overseas when I was a child. Always loved it. So this video brings back nice memories. By the way, whenever you're with Matt, your face just lights up! It's beautiful. Must be true love! Well, he is a handsome devil and a good man, who stands by his family. That's the best kind of man there is. God bless!
Thank you for the visit. I felt like we were sitting with our neighbors and just had a visit. God Bless you and my wife says she loves your posts.
Thank you Dennis! So glad you both enjoy our videos!!

Thank you Pastor Lon 😀
Your garden is so beautiful and very tranquil.
Thanks for visiting 😀
Just wonderful to view your garden and listen to you both chat . Thanks so much.

@@CelebratingAppalachia God bless you.
Isn’t it amazing what God can create and you can harvest!! I’m with Matt…I can not tolerate the heat and you’ve seen what it’s like in Oklahoma. Fall is my favorite season. At least it has cooled off some by then!🧡🍁
Finally some quiet time to watch. Tried between church time. But helping a friend through the loss of her sister, so on the phone a lot. But that's what we are suppose to do lift others up. I love your garden and the sound of the cicadas in the background. It's 9 :10 pm as I watch this. It's very calming.
Thank you Linda 😀
The garden tours and the chats are so relaxing and enjoyable
YUM
It is wonderful 😀
I like the causal talk...relaxing. Thanks for posting.
Peas, fried okree, sliced tomatoes and cornbread is a perfect summertime supper. I always enjoy spending time with ya'll.
I always enjoy the garden tours with you and Matt. They are peaceful. Dennis Morgan
Thank you Dennis 😀
You and Matt have a lot to be proud of in that garden, Tipper. Your hard work really shows. Everything looks terrific.
We are approaching a milestone. Although we've had some cherry tomatoes in the last few weeks, we will pick our first few slicing tomatoes in the next day or two. As you know, that is a very exciting day.
Have a wonderful week!
Yay! That is great Roland 😀
The Lord continue to bless you & yours. ❤
Thank you Tipper and Matt, as always a nice visit. God Bless. Jean
Thank you Jean! Hope you have a good week 😀
I love your videos....Watching, takes me back home to where I was raised...God Bless and thank You....

Watching you makes me want to have a garden next year. My grandma always had a big garden and I miss her and the garden.
Prayers up for Kentucky. So sad. 🙏🏽♥️
Yes prayers for them all.
@@CelebratingAppalachia Amen
Turnips ("turnups" I called them as a child), beets, beet greens 😋 I haven't made it myself, but I remember having mashed potatoes with a turnip mashed in them when I was a youngster. Your popsicle chats are pleasant. Prayers for the folks affected by those floods in Kentucky. 🙏🏻
Mashed turnips with a little sugar in them are hard to beat.
Oh Tipper I just love your family and appreciate you sharing your life in Appalachia with your viewers. You grew up pretty much like I did but I am on the flat land east of Raleigh! I couldn’t believe the first time I heard you say Okry because that is the same way I grew up saying it and still do. My husband Larry, and I made a garden this year and it was beautiful. It was the first one in 20 years. I have been canning beans & tomatoes ,apples, jelly, & making pickles this summer. I am still cutting okra and getting a few tomatoes but that is about it.
I would love to meet you sometime & hope to go to Mountain Heritage day at Western Carolina. Last year was my first visit. I saw that Corie & Katie was playing and would love to see them play. We love the girls channel too. In fact I watch it so much Corie & Katie and you too have become household names around our house. 😁 I saw that the folk school is having a fall festival in early October. Will the you all be preforming there? I would like to go to both but just not sure yet. Tipper please continue sharing your life and family with us & we will all keep celebrating Appalachia. 😊
Thank you Karen! So glad you enjoy our videos 😀 We won't be playing at the folk school.
The 1st time I was up close on a deer, about 2 yrs sho. She was in the traffic circle ay dusk. And as I entered the circle, she just stood there and looked at me. I drove very slowly past her.
She was absolutely beautiful! She took my breath away!!! I never knew how beautiful deer are. 🥰🥰🥰♥️
Vegetables from the garden, fresh cornbread, and outshine popsicles. Ahhhhh life is worth livin’ in the Tipper homestead. 👩🌾💙💚👩🌾
😀
Your garden is just beautiful! Love the vertical lines. Your harvest is fabulous. Nothing like home grown anything!
growing up in the Appalachian mountains being 71 years I've done a lot of gardening my Dad alway's put lime on our bean's to keep most of the beatle's off and it pretty much did.
Thank you for sharing that Leroy! I'm going to keep using it 😀
Tipper, your beans just reaching out to give you a hug 🤗🥰
😀
We live in the north end of CA central valley. We've be in a drought for a couple years. We have only had 2.58in of rain in 2022 so far. So we have been praying for rain. You had carrots for the first time I hope they were good.
I do hope you get rain Robert! Thank you for watching 😀
I live in Ontario and my favourite place is the bean patch to listening to all the birds and wind ❤
