What a joy it is to watch you all just sit and chat. Reminds me of simpler times.
Thank you Tipper, Corie and Matt for taking me along with you in another day in the garden! 😊🇨🇦
So glad you enjoyed it Gary 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia I asked if you had a grape pie before the video was over and then you answered my question. lol
Corie, maybe try brushing your teeth with Sensadyne or one of those other sensitive tooth pastes. I've worked for a dentist for 24 years and Doc swears by it. I just work the front desk, nothing clinical but our patients tell us it works. You might need to use it for a few days or more before you notice but it really does the trick. I love your channels! So nice and cozy sitting on the porch with family. It brings back many sweet memories of my own family. Thanks for sharing! Hugs and blessings! P.S. Olive is adorable! She has the cutest personality!
Listen to that rain. Awesome. Right now we are praying for rain.
I wish we could send you some Linda.
Prayers are enough. Just pray tipper.
Love hearing about your dogs! Dogs can sense barometric pressure and thats why they know before we do if a storm is coming. Anyway, love the garden finishing up and planting for the fall.
Love the sitting on the porch chit-chatting and then to decide what to eat for dinner!
Thank you once again Tipper!
"The faster we're done, the faster we're done." 👍❤
Fried okra and fried squash-Yummy!
Thank y’all for having me on the porch, I’d love to really be there sometime but this was just as nice!
I hung out like I was there.........so enjoyed it. Those steps are first class Matt Good skills.
Oh yeah Blessings all.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀 Thank you!
LOL toe nail clippings. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
OMGosh, I laughed out loud at "toenail fruit"! You all are a hoot!🤣
I enjoyed this very much. Matt's 'toe nail clippings' made me laugh. Thanks for sharing.
Your Hostas are big! Love the shade loving perineals!
When I was a little boy I was responsible for spraying for insects and we used powder called blue dragon. I had to spray early morning when dew was on the plants. This allowed the dust to adhere to the plants. I love your videos. God bless.
Love y'all🥰
😀
Thank you Tipper.🙏
So cool that you can also plant in the fall! And love to hear the crickets!🤗❤
Thank you 😀
Y'all are so much fun to watch and that jungle garden of yours is amazing. I love your porch sitting chat, we eat popsicles after working in the garden and yard. Such a nice treat on a hot day. Matt is certainly on a roll today so funny.
This was great! Y’all chatting under the porch and cutting up😁too fun! I’ll never eat coconut again without thinking about toenail clippings😂cracked me up! Thanks for sharing your life with us.
I love it when you and the Deer Hunter walk us through the garden and talk about what is growing. I can tell how much you both love the growing vegetables. Then I also enjoy when you sit and eat popsicles and chat at the end. It's very cozy!
Your garden is beautiful! ⭐️💝
Thank you so much 😊
My grandma grew green beans and strawberries in her garden. We snapped the beans and canned them. The strawberries we cut them up and put sugar on them. Great memories.
We had a dog afraid of storms and the only place he felt safe was in the pickup bed. He would sit there getting wet until the storm was over.
I always enjoy garden tours and listening to your conversations. It is like I a visiting with your family. I would say my favorite food is a fresh tomato sandwich with mayonnaise on white bread. I eat too many of them in the summer time. Tipper where I grew up a lot of people grew watermelons, my Uncle Jim used to grow some really big ones. From now on I will always think of toe nail clippings when I eat coconut! Thanks for this video. Dennis Morgan
Hahahahahaha when Matt says coconut shavings remind him of toe nail clippings
I love seeing your garden. I love your family and the closeness y'all have. Thank you for sharing parts of your lives with us.
Our pleasure!
When Matt said shredded coconut reminds him of Toenail clippings……….I just roared in laughter! It struck me funny for at least ten minutes! I had to go back and replay the end of your video because I couldn’t concentrate! Toenail clippings…..lol
Glad you enjoyed it! 😀
I just discovered your channel and I enjoy it thoroughly! Your conversation on the porch reminds me of sitting in the evening when I was quite young with my grandfather “Papa” and my father and uncles listening to their stories. In the end Family is everything and you have a real nice one. All the best from Cape Cod.
So glad you are enjoying our videos 😀
Beautiful! Enjoyed it!
Really enjoyed the garden work and the porch time. Thank you.
Beautiful garden
Ok... I'm never going to look at Coconut the same again. LOL
I got me some peach cycles too and they’re delicious. Thanks for the referral. Love the coconut too. Lol.
Great video, ya'll are so great a family, an inspiration to all!. Matt's coconut comments had me LOL. And I totally agree!
Several times while watching this, I heard my Mama say, “Get back outta that snakey stuff!”
Been a bad garden year for me. My cucumbers got a blight and now my watermelons have blossom rot XD I did get a mess of cucumbers. Enough that I pickled about five to six gallons of them.
Sorry to hear that Bill. Glad you did get cucumbers 😀
Me too Bill .. trial for sure for this extreme heat, locust, worked so hard starting my seedlings that were my sweet mamas from 1989 packets I found last year .. they were beautiful but pestilence took over with most of my garden areas, tomato plants are 4 too 5ft tall but the heat prevented bountiful fruit
@@agapelove2853 and now, SQUASH BUGS. They destroyed my pumpkin plant and my pole beans! Such a terrible garden year.
Love your stories and your way of country living ..I grew up in country grandaddy had a cabin up on top of mountain ..I loved fishin trout in creeks , target shooting , planting a garden……y’all bless me
Thank you so much 😀
Spinasad will make quick work of those Mexican Bean beetles. Never seen them anywhere else I’ve lived except Kentucky 💕✌️🌱
BEAUTIFUL Garden!
I sure would love a mater sandwich.
Oh I’m with the fresh caught fish! We’re from the Oregon Coast so fresh salmon and tuna and trout were our regular diet. Crab Oysters what have you. Now we’re in MT and it’s so different. A lot of deer and bear in the freezer 🤣
saw you were having bean bugs. The bane of a home gardener! In Indiana we used wood ash as a bug deterrent as we burned wood in winter. it didn't seem to matter what wood but it seemed to help? I love your channel it fits my homey need right now. Stay safe, enjoying you and the girls
Thank you for the tip 😀
Thank you for this advice, we burn wood here in SW Missouri… do you all like powder the bean plants or plant seedlings in the ash/soil mixed? Always love too learn… wished I had kept a diary of how my fathers family of 16 children grew their gardens, I reside on the 100 yr old homestead, my grandfather grew acres of tomatoes, strawberries and grapes … I just didn’t realize as a child growing up how important it was for me too take heed of how papa planted sooo much for our large famiky
Oh, what we wouldn’t give for some rain. It is SO DRY and parched here ( I’m in HOT Southern California), I pray for rain every day. Your garden is so beautiful while mine is rather brown and cooked looking even though I have shade cloth up. 😣
I wish I could send you some rain!!
Well you scared the Bugeebuz out of me Cory 😳😳😳😳🤣
I love garden time with you and Matt. It's so peaceful there. In the garden. A lot of hard work but it's so satisfying. Your place is very pretty. At 63 almost 64 I crave peace and tranquility.
Matt reminds me of my daddy in a lot of ways. lol. My daddy said that the Kind health chocolate bars ,was like trying to eat a plug of tobacco or as he would say a plug a backer.
lol I 'kind' of agree with your daddy.
😀 Love that
We mix vinegar, baking soda and a little dishwashing liquid for those bugs......it works well.....
I love your garden. I hate those bean bugs!!!! I love watermelon, cantaloupe, blueberries, strawberries, bananas and apples---all homegrown when I can get them! Love to watch you eat those popsicles, it reminds me of my time with my aunts and granny during the summers we would stay with them. I love how Matt thinks a coconut popsicle tastes like suntan oil!!!HAHA I always loved strawberry and cherry the best. I hope your fall planting goes well. Looking forward to your second harvest.
Thank you Donna 😀
Oh my gosh.... I am so glad I finally heard someone else call okra ( orkie ). All my life my family and I have called it okrie. lol !! I love it !! We live in GA. I've lived here all my life. Just found your channel today and I'm glad I did. I'm a new subscriber. You have a beautiful garden. 😍
Welcome and thank you for watching! Glad you say it that way too 😀
Your Beans look really good. I planted Kentucky Wonder Pole beans last year and they didn't do worth a hoot. This year I planted Jade Bush beans and they have did good. May try pole beans again next year and use the fencing like you did. About rain, up here in WV we have had a lot of rain this year. We love your and your girls videos.
Thank you Rick 😀
Confucius say he who work fast quit fast 😝
😀 Love that!
I remember Shelly beans from when I was a kid from my Grandparents garden here in Oregon. They were so good. I also remember when I would have a sliver and it would have to be pulled or picked out-which was no fun. I was told to say “shelly beans” over and over to make it easier. I guess it worked to make me think of something else while the sliver was coming out.😉 P.S. The view from the porch is lovely and tidy and the hosta next to the porch.
Thank you Judy! Love your memory of shelly beans 😀
I've got a Schrade Walden 165 in a leather sheath just like Matt's, it's busted through a many deer pelvic bone for field dressing and then skin and quarter the whole deer out and still be razor sharp.
I will never see shredded coconut in the same way again. Lol. Lovely garden. I am planting a fall shelling bean named Topazio garden bean. It looks interesting. Anything to fill in between seasons.
Such good videos you make! I enjoy when you take a break to chat & eat popsicles. What a nice rain you got! I haven't heard of shredded coconut being described as toenail clippings! 😂🤭 I agree with Corie about watermelon causing digestive issues when eaten with other foods. I've seen where melons should be eaten as first food of the day, by themselves & not ever mixed with other fruits. Then later eat other fruits. There's tons of info online about it. Thanks for this video of your garden. 🌱🌧️🌻
If I was 10 years younger I would come visit you and see if I could set on your porch swing with you. My grandma and grandpa had a porch swing and all us grandkids would love to swing on their porch. I bet they hated to see us kids coming. We fussed a lot about who was going to swing first. When you have grandkids they will love to come to swing on your high porch.
I'm so happy I found your channel. You bring back so many memories. What kind of popscicles do you eat? Are they fruit bars? You make them look so good!!
Thank you! They are Outshine popsicles 😀
Nice video🥰
Way to ruin coconut, Matt! 😂😂😂
😀
We grow Clemson spineless okra here in Alabama
I don't even eat popsicles, but y'all finally wore me down. The fruit ones didn't appeal to me, but the store had coffee flavored that are pretty good. Enough so that I'm now on my second box. I'm still hoping to find the ones that are dipped in some sort of coating like one of your commenters recommended. I think somebody needs to alert the Outshine makers to the reason their sales may have had a surge recently. :-)
Love your shirt. I am planning on growing okra next summer. Do you have to provide it with support to grow upright like yours does?
Thank you! We've never had to support our okra 😀 It's a pretty sturdy plant.
Toenail clippings 🤣🤣🤣 my dad don't like rice bc he says he's afraid it will crawl off his plate🤣🤣
😀
I'm so happy I found this channel. As I watched you picking in the garden do you ever come across snakes? You didn't seem concerned about it or are you looking as you pick? I'm scared to death of snakes. 🤷♀️
So glad you are enjoying our videos! We do have snakes but most of the time they skedaddle when they hear you 😀
Beautiful garden and yard Tipper. How often do y'all have to stain your deck? You have a big one. Great for sitting and thinkin. 👍
Thank you! Not near often enough 😀 It hasn't been stained in years, but we hope to get it done in September 😀
Soap and neem
Is that the Mexican Bean Beetle? 😳 They attack my rattlesnake pole beans last month with a vengeance. Never had them before.. We were having rain everyday and it was impossible to fight back. Please let us know if you find something that gets rid of them. Wishing you luck.
It is! I will let you know 😀
I'm no stranger to the rain
I can spot bad weather
And I'm good at finding shelter in a downpour
I've been sacrificed by brothers
Crucified by lovers
But through it all, I withstood the pain
I'm no stranger to the rain
Great song!! Boy he could sing 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia Absolutely!
🙀Oh no! Coconut will never be the same for me again 😩! Toenails - 🤮yuk! Thanks, Matt🙄!
Just come across a video of Alex's grandson, WBIR's Heartland Series Volume 7
I'll have to watch it 😀
I've pulled up my cucumbers, lettuce & most of my tomatoes. I still have about 4 containers of tomatoes with a few Roma tomatoes on them. I'm ready for a break from this year's planting. Do you have a greenhouse? Can you plant tomatoes in containers & have them year 'round? I would love year 'round tomatoes. Hugs!
Thank you for watching! We do have a greenhouse but its not heated well enough for year round tomatoes 😀
We have bean beetles, squash borers and every other pest you can think of. Worst year ever we aren’t producing fruit and our squash/gourds/pumpkins are being ravaged by pests
I'm sorry to hear that. Hoping next year is better!!
Miner’s ate the plant to prevent scurvy, because the green is very high in vitamin C.
Thank you!!
@@CelebratingAppalachia - You’re most welcome, Tipper 💯❣️🇺🇸
I'm with Matt, can't stand shredded coconut. I like coconut out of the shell, like the taste and smell, but shredded, forget it. 😊
What's the brand name of these said Popsicles? I am loving watching your family
Thank you Mary! It's Outshine 😀
Don't know if this will get read or not but try BBQ Cantaloupe sometime. Sounds strange but it's really good. Not just grilled but actually use BBQ sauce. I like the hickory smoke flavored.
Thank you for the tip 😀
An awesome cool video. I remember my dad using lime to get rid of the bugs. Do you have any suggestions as to what I could use to keep Squreels away from my house and cars? They are really bad. About twenty years ago they got into my attic and caused me a lot of trouble and money to repair my attic. I'd be grateful for any advice you can give me. Stay well & safe. God Bless.
Matt's advice is to harvest them 😀 Hopefully someone with other info will chime in with an answer. Thank you for watching!
@@CelebratingAppalachia It's always a pleasure to watch your video. I like Matt's advice. But sadly I live in the City limits of my town. No way I could harvest them without someone calling the police, lol. I tried that Thirty Eight years ago and got in trouble, lol. Thank you for replying to my post. I truly hope someone will give me some advice. Thank you and God Bless, Everyone.
I'm with Matt. Love coconut just not the shredded. It IS like toenail clippings!🤮
♥️
Tipper , have you ever grown potatoes indoors or even outside during the winter?
I haven't ever tried that 😀
Those little yellow bugs destroyed my bush beans. I used neem oil, castile soap and water, but it kept raining and couldn't keep up with the spray.
They are horrible! So sorry they got all your beans.
@@CelebratingAppalachia Thankfully I got several freezer bags of beans that I was able to blanch and freeze, but the bugs still cut short what i could have gotten. - a lot more. Gardening has been a learning experience for sure!
@@JubeeBijou Oh I'm so glad you got some 😀
I'm sure you have mentioned it in one of your videos. But how do you keep the deer from eating it all? I can't plant a thing inless it's fenced in. Here in upper Wisconsin.
There are several dogs in our holler that keep them at bay 😀 Thank you for watching!
What kind of popsicles are those? Are they the Outshine bars?
Yes they are 😀 Thank you for watching!
I love the coconut, would like to try the other flavors, but The Dollar General only
cares the coconut. Where can I find the others??
My local grocery store Ingles has them and also Walmart 😀
Thank you
I'm starting to cultivate purslane. Dont like muskmelon or honey dew
Tipper, where did you get your oh-kree shirt?
A subscriber sent it to me 😀 It came from Hoss Tools.
I told u coconut was the best.
You were so right!! 😀
I hope I'm not repeating a question here, but what kind of frozen treats are y'alls eatin ??
I apologize, I scrolled pert near to the bottom of the comments and seen the answer to my question, they're Outshine Bars !!! Again, my apologies !!!!
No worries! Thank you Mark!!
Use sensodyne toothpaste It helped me to eat cold and certain sweet things without my teeth hurting
My Maggie is afraid of storms , she's scared right now , lighting and thunder wind, rain. She hiding next to my bed because she's too fat to get under it. lol. poor baby.
Poor Maggie! Thank you for watching 😀
Any luck with fordhooks?
We've never tried them 😀
Is that rain on a tin roof??
😀 Yes
Why is he cutting them limbs off the okra plants? I'm growing okra, and I didn't know u were supposed to.
That is the way we learned 😀 but not everyone does it. You have to find what works best for you 😀
Loving the family conversations! It's like sittin right there and chattin with friends. Brightest blessings!
You mean no one is in his/her own little world looking down at their cell phone. They are actually talking and interacting. They exist! 🤣
❤️
😀
This was so good.... I especially liked what Matt said,' she owes us 'cause we raised 'er'. I giggled cause I say stuff like that from time to time... Love hearing growin' up stories about your girls'. I like sitting on the porch to watch rainstorms. Wished we could get a quick rainstorm right now 😂
My mom says, you got to pay for your raising.
I’m so glad I found this channel. My fondest memories are those of the whole family sitting at Mamaw and Papaw’s breaking beans and visiting. Your videos remind me so much of those days.
Heck Yeah!, Sittin' on the front porch gunny sack of purplehull peas on one side and a BIG OL' mixin' bowl on the other. Now leave it up to my paw-paw, grandmother, to make a race of it! The winner got extra Ice Cream and vanilla wafers after dinner. we also snapped beans, stripped greens, ate corn and tomatoes right from the garden. It's a wonder we didn't have encounters of the wriggly kind, worms. We also picked OK-REE, squash, etc. Granddaddy ran angus cattle so he'd come rescue me from the Infernal Ok-ree itch to go "Count Cows".
Same with me. That’s when the whole family got together doing fun things
This does bring back all the feel good memories and the warm snuggles by the fire
Me too!
I really like you all licking popsicles and talking after the work! These homey videos are wonderful, and the gardening part is inspirational. Thank you.
How clever to fix the can like you did! I was trying to break up a rooster fight and missed the rooster and shot a hole in the feed can and it came pouring out. We didn't have money in those days and I was dreading when my husband came home telling him. All ended well. But too funny!
Tipper your family is so blessed that your garden did so well. Here in southern WV we have had so much rain it has ruined my garden. I only got a few cucumbers and my tomatoes have not produced like last year. My peppers are not good either. My corn was blown down by the wind in a rain storm. I guess there is always next year.
I'm so sorry Judith! I hate it didn't do very well for you this year 😀
I’m so sorry. We’ve fought extreme drought here in north central Arkansas. With Japanese beetles and drought, it’s been disheartening.
This makes me miss my younger days.. even though we felt like we were slave labor for our grandparents and aunts and uncles..
I grew up in South Georgia and you could always count on some rain in the afternoons in summer. So we had to pick the garden early in the day. Then in the afternoons we’d either sit under the car port or under a big sycamore tree and shuck corn, shell butter beans and snap peas and pull peanuts. I can almost cry remembering those times.
