      Bryan Rollins do you think the autofocus is fast enough to catch a bouncing baby boy?

    • @ricardodafonseca9043
      @ricardodafonseca9043 5 лет назад +3

      @@KevinScandinavia when I had mine it was enough to do almost anything, but there's a caveat. It's not always easy. The single point af was fast enough, especially with the firmware updates. Multi point focusing was fast, but never focuses on what I want. Servo/continuous was not good. I never got on with that. So sometimes shots need to planned by pre-focusing, or zone focusing. I spent 100 percent of the time in single point af. When you switch to manual focus it allows you to autofocus with the back button.
      With a bit of practice it's very useable.

      Hi! What lens do you recommend for portrait?

  • @garethdwatkins
    @garethdwatkins 5 лет назад +20

    Hi Matt,
    Having been a photographer since the early 80's I've used everything from Minolta XGM, to Nikon F2, FM2, F3, F4.. Canon EOS1, EOS1n, DCS3, DSC520, EOS 1 mark 3, 5Diii etc, etc... So a lot of cameras.. my main system is still a 5diii and lenses.
    But the Fuji Xpro1 is my favourite all time camera. The ergonomics take me back to the FM2, (proper aperture rings) ... and it is just such a pleasure to use.. I get a buzz just shooting. The lenses are so nice... I have the 18mm (the weakest) 35mm & 50mm.. all f2 and they are sweet...
    The photos are beautiful.. both colour and b&w... I've made 40x30 prints and they are just as sharp as my Canon prints.. Well I can't see a difference at this size print.. They are small, compact and perfect as an every day carry...
    With the latest software updates, the AF is fast enough, and I really can't see what an Xpro2 would offer... I'll no doubt get one when the Xpro 3 launches.. and the price drops.. the Xpro 1 is a really, really nice camera...

    I made a substantial amount of cash buying a fair amount of Xpro-1 on ebay all over the world ,after the Xpro2 came out. Because of the firmware-update for the Xpro 1 came after Xpro2, it was basically the same camera, but at rock bottom prices. It tells so much about the human psychological conditioning, and marketing . How to place the Xpro-1 into the original and the pro -2 as a copy. We all suck making a informed rational choice , and boy oh boy companies know about it XP2 is ALWAYS a better ticket for producing better picturer then XP1. My personal XP1 is still here with me, because its large enough to fit my gorilla fists. Its a substantial camera with weight , and heft, to it.

    I bought mine with the 2 lens bundle for £499 when the X-Pro2 came out. If I sold it all now I'd probably get near the same price - which is unheard of in the digital world. I have been using my X Pro 1 since 2014. I gave up my 5DMK II to go over to Fuji, first with the X 100 limited edition, which I immediately fell in love with, and then over to the XP1 which has been with me ever since. It's in mint condition and with the 35mm f1.4 and 28mm f2 it serves me well, shooting street and some landscape stuff. Once you get the hang of this camera, and you work with it as a team, rather than trying to go your own way and be the boss, you can get some very satisfying images out of it. It's digital, yes, but nonetheless old school, and you will need to get into old school habits with it if you want the best from it. It's slow, temperamental if you don't know what you are doing, and it will expect you, the photographer, to get it right first time. It's not a camera for people who expect it to get it right for them, so be warned. Buy one and refresh your craft. I love it.

    Even now that I have the XT3, I still love the RF layout and colors of my EX2 and the Pro1 hardware would be awesome.

    I was waiting for this review, as i am just wondering if i should get an X-Pro 1 or X-T1, given that i have the original X100 now :)
    Still havent seen it, the notification just popped up, but i am writing this comment just to say how thankful i am that you are doing this!
    And as always, loving all your videos! Keep up the Great work!

      @@gearreallydoesntmatter Oh yes i enjoyed it! And as every other review of yours, it makes me want the camera more! But i find it didnt help me choose :/
      I know it's mostly up to personal preferences, but i am struggling to decide between the x-pro 1 and x-t1. The x-pro 1 is a little bit cheaper here, at 230gbp, and the x-t1 is 270. That is not a concern, as i will invest more in lenses :)
      But the thing i can't decide on is, if i want the left side hybrid viewfinder of the x-pro1 more, or the wi-fi + tilting screen on the x-t1. Right now i am leaning more towards x-t 1 as i never had wi-fi on a camera before, and when i had a camera with tilting screen, i did use it most of the time. But the x-pro1 is so appealing, and i am used to the hybrid viewfinder from my x100, plus the x-pro 1 should have a better one :)
      The other thing i am wondering about is, if i should trade in my x100 at the same time, so i can get one or two more lenses, or just keep it as it's a great walk-around camera :)

      @@gearreallydoesntmatter I think that helped me a bit, especially as i find it quite handy to just transfer the photos to my phone via USB OTG+tiny card reader. And thats just if i have to use longer transport on the way back. Usually everything ends up on the computer, and not the phone :)
      I bet i will be happy with whatever i choose, and when i decide on one, i will always wonder what would it be with the other one :D
      Thanks for the answer though, at least it made me think about the "feature" i don't actually need :)

      @@DilianVelev i have an x-t1 with a 35mm f2 fujinon lens, absolute workhorse, it's faster interms of autofocus and can hold longer burst rates with a fast sd card, as well as other bonuses like 60fps video, huge viewfinder, titling screen and iso dial. But the end i'm sure You will be happy with either.

    I was able to get the diopter I needed at CameraQuest. It's listed for the Voigtlander Bessa, but it got me back into action with the X-Pro1 after cataract surgery.

    The older xtrans sensor is amazing, and wish I still had the pro1.

    I bought myself a X-E1 as a backup camera for around 120€, but I find myself using it more often than my Sony a7 because its so enjoyable to use and the colors are more pleasant to the eye than with Sony cameras, especially in low light situations.

    Some of us have faces worth hiding. I have the X-T2 over the X-Pro2 because I’m ugly AND poor.
    Joking aside, I like the in-camera tone curves in jpeg with the X-Pro1. It’s a big selling point to me. 16mp is my optimum sensor size for aps-c. I like small files that don’t need editing.

    Nice video, the XPro1 is awesome, I have had mine for 10 years, love it, I have the original 3 lenses, 18, 35 and 60, I have added the 56 for portraits. May add the XPro3 and 23mm this year. Oh and the camera works great with old MF lenses. Quirky but user friendly, small enough with the 18mm lens on to stuff into a coat pocket which allows you to take it everywhere.

    ... I love mine... my biggest problem is the lack of viewfinder diopter correction...
    The files (mainly in b&w) are just awesome... (at least for my choice)
    ... but now my GFX 50s is getting my full attention and time... 😀
    Nice review
