Karen Carpenter's voice beyond 'Angelic'. My #1 favorite pop singer forever! I bought this song back in 1973, and many more of the Carpenters music starting back in 1970 when I was 17 years old. And on March 24, 2022, I'm still in love with KC.
@@twiggylhomme206 From a person who grew up with a lot of different influences in music. Karen was / is a voice that is still to this day makes me smile. A shame she passed away so young.
@@bak-mariterry5180All my teenage years was rocked by Karen's musics. Streisand's is gorgeous, Janis Joplin's carefree. But Karen's was and is so sweet and warm. With her passed away is like she took all my innocence of teenage away. During very longtime i just couldn't bear to listen to her songs. Even now i would still feel the sadness.
@@twiggylhomme206 She had a very unique voice. My woman singers growing up was Lydia Pence, Aretha, Dusty Springfield , Carley Simond . Still, Karen just had a sound that brought a sense of calm at the end of the day. Oh, I also enjoyed Carrol King.
Would like to hear the album she did WITHOUT Richard, with Herb Alpert I believe which her 'family" suppressed. Her lack of autonomy and familial respect proved fatal.

This is one of my favorites of all of their songs. Karen is also playing the drums in this track. Pure Jazz. I love how she fades out at the end of the song. Stunning recording. Sublime.
Are we really happy with This lonely game we play? Looking for the right words to say Searching but not finding Understanding anyway We're lost in this masquerade Both afraid to say we're just too far away From being close together from the start We tried to talk it over But the words got in the way We're lost inside this lonely game we play Thoughts of leaving disappear Each time I see your eyes And no matter how hard I try To understand the reason Why we carry on this way We're lost in this masquerade We tried to talk it over But the words got in the way We're lost inside this lonely game we play Thoughts of leaving disappear Each time I see your eyes And no matter how hard I try To understand the reason Why we carry on this way We're lost in a masquerade We're lost in a masquerade (And we're lost in a masquerade) Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Leon Russell
A fantastic rendition of a Leon Russell classic. A showcase for Karen's wonderful vocal talent along with Richard's virtuoso arrangement!
Thanks so much I still love Karen Carpenter. May she be in Heaven singing with God's Angels.
Leon would approve .
❤ Karen Carpenter forever
A great talent; the world is a little emptier without her;
Not only is this one of Karen's best vocals, but Richard's piano solo and Bob Messenger's flute are superb!
Silky and seductive. Karen's voice is always beyond belief.
Beautiful. The closest voice today to Karen's is Tori Holub, here on YT. Carpenter's fans get ready for chills down the spine...
They should have done more songs like this, instead of mr postman and beachwood! In my opinion!
Such a perfect bluesy Leon Russell number for Karen's smoky contralto. Leon plus Karen plus Richard equals great music!

The voice of an angel ❤️
La plus belle version de cette superbe chanson de Leon Russell ! La voix de Karen est du velours et les solos de piano et de flûte sont excellents !!
Magnificent!
Lindíssima 💖 música 🎀
Sublime, what else can we say to this timeless and flawless performance?
Karen Carpenters is the ONE voice ever. I was so sad when she passed away.

@@bak-mariterry5180 I didn't know Lydia. Of course Dusty Springfield, Carole King and Carly Simon's You're so vain. Yeah, Karen's is "one of a kind".

Las mejores interpretaciones de este tema de León Russell : George Benson y Carpenters...
La interpretación de George Benson de esta canción también es buena.

Just point at the Carpenters .
surullinen päätös elämälle😢
Trágica canción para un amor tóxico y a la vez triste, como anillo al dedo.

Are we really happy with
This lonely game we play?
Looking for the right words to say
Searching but not finding
Understanding anyway
We're lost in this masquerade
Both afraid to say we're just too far away
From being close together from the start
We tried to talk it over
But the words got in the way
We're lost inside this lonely game we play
Thoughts of leaving disappear
Each time I see your eyes
And no matter how hard I try
To understand the reason
Why we carry on this way
We're lost in this masquerade
We tried to talk it over
But the words got in the way
We're lost inside this lonely game we play
Thoughts of leaving disappear
Each time I see your eyes
And no matter how hard I try
To understand the reason
Why we carry on this way
We're lost in a masquerade
We're lost in a masquerade
(And we're lost in a masquerade)
