so Coldplay just released their 8th studio album 'Everyday Life' TODAY, and it's an eclectic mix... and considering they're one of my favourite bands... i reacted to it ;)

Daddy, Fix You and Everyday Life are the only Coldplay songs that have drawn tears from my eyes… the lines “daddy it’s my birthday”, “lights will guide you home / and ignite your bones” and “hold tight for everyday life…”

i’ve been a huge fan my whole life and i’ve been anticipating this album for almost 4 years, and ‘daddy’ really does remind me of the ‘ghost stories’ album. this album blew away my expectations
it honestly blew me away when i heard it - probably one of the best songs on the album

That bird call sound before the lyrics kick in on Church gets me every time.
I LOVE your reaction, I'm so glad they found their roots again! I had the same reactions, I cried and smiled and listened to it over and over. Every time I listen I fall in love even more.

cry cry cry is actually my favourite song in this album to me!! The song is very simple, but still it has so much warm vibe in it...afterall I enjoyed this and your MOTS reaction :)

Interesting thing about Daddy, apparently it was written by Chris Martin's guilt of being absent from his children due to touring a lot. Also a link to kinds who have their parents in prison for a long time in America for very menial crimes

To me, it instantly sounded like a modern twist on old-school love songs that I love to sing when putting my outfit together before going out or something. So obviously I would have a sweet spot there. Good to know you grew into it.

Has your opinion on cry cry cry changed at all? Personally that was one of my favourites on the album with the melody and harmonies. Bar that you pretty much reacted how I did when I listened to it at midnight when it was released after having a few bottles of wine
Mike Fahey my opinion of some of the songs have changed over time, especially since its nearly been a year since the album came out - unfortunately, cry cry cry is still one of my least favourites on the album, but trouble in town is now possibly my favourite to listen to now - music is subjective, and that’s what i love about it, there’s no right or wrong opinion - i’m glad you loved the album too!!

Guns is about America gun problems when there is an attack, no one in Government says that there should be a gun law, they still think it's a god given right to have a gun and anyway Chris does swear in interviews. My favourite song is Church and probably say Sunset is probably the better side because I am still not sure on WOTW/POTP, that's the only reason why Sunset is better because I like all the songs from that side.

BRUH do me a favor, listen to the b-side bonus track from the Japan Bonus Album. The track is called Flags. Just search for it on youtube. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT'S NOT ON THE ALBUM. It's on par with Champion of The World dude. Maybe react to this as well?

@@josephjamesmusic_ It's confirmed to be the 9th track of Sunset. Yes Sunset is the best of the 2 i agree. Definitely after Flags. My god i had days where i was really struggling what the best track was, it really grew on me. At one point it was better then Champion... I still don't know, maybe you reach a consensus for us.

Joseph James sounds great haha. Maybe listen (react) to their live in jordan performances while you’re at it. It sounds much better and sometimes very different. They got movies on their channel.

Some of the jarring nature of Cry Cry Cry may come from the Jacob Collier collaboration and the need to layer and manipulate so much. If a doo wop group sang the exact same song, I bet it would be a smash, though.

I'm sorry but the sax solo in Arabesque is very poorly played for a saxophone and sounds like someone is rubbing grease paper with a hair brush. Other than that a great reaction!
i think music is so subjective anyway, and you’re opinion is so valid! it is overpowering, but maybe that was the intention with the solo potentially
@@josephjamesmusic_ I totally agree! Everybody's opinion counts and I wasn't trying to put down anybody else's or anything. I do understand why people might like it because of its presence in the song and how experimental it is, but I'm personally not a fan.
