My daughter had reflux. The only things that worked were putting her cot mattress at a slightly raised angle with a foam wedge. She also had a special reflux formula that was much thicker and that seemed to do the trick. By four months she grew out of it so hoping that’s the case for your little guy.

Oh my goodness. We have JUST come through this with our now 6 month old. (We also had a similar experience with our now 3 year old.) A couple of things; adding a little non-alcohol vanilla essence to the Neocate can make it a little more manageable to taste or mixing it with Aptamil Syneo (or other partially hydrolysed formula) can sometimes be enough to be less irritating but more tasty. But most of all, I just want to say IT WILL GET BETTER. I promise the guilty misery bouncing a baby to sleep for the 100th time in a dark room while you’ve left your toddler to watch telly AGAIN… that passes. The tired frustrated tears in the middle of the night when you’ve had no sleep and your little one just can’t stop screaming from pain and you’re just not sure how you’re going to do it all again tomorrow… that passes. The worry that your bond with them isn’t quite what it should be… that passes (because your bond will be amazing and hard earned and something you worked on together and it’s special in a completely different way, because you got through it, as a little mummy/daddy-kiddo team!). You are doing amazing, reflux parenting is so so hard, but life will be light and silly and fun again, I promise xx

My heart goes out to you two. I’ve been through this with two of mine. I remember so many nights falling asleep on an incline with a baby on my chest because I physically couldn’t stay awake any longer. Please remember you both are doing amazing and the best you can for both your children! There will be answers and relief in time and eventually this phase too shall pass 💕

Silent reflux is sometimes in conjunction with a cow dairy allergy. Cutting out dairy from my own diet with nursing helped tremendously.

Oh my, I can relate so much - but it will get better...my daughter had the allergy against milk protein & vomited 24/7 and in the end she was so hungry, that she ended up drinking the formula anyway - I wish you all the best, sending u loads of strength!

I do understand your feelings so well as we’ve been through exactly the same! I really hope that it gets better for you little by little. For us what worked the best was keeping our son upright for the most parts of the day, baby wearing all day long, never laying him flat on the back. We have been multiple times to A&E and had a few hospital stays - sending all my love! You are doing great! ✨

Keep going you've both got this. We did wonky winding, bedside crib at angle, baby wearing all the time, ditched the carrycot part of the pram, dr browns anti colic bottles and eventually infant gaviscon. It was not the introduction to parenthood we were expecting, and it was a tough first 6 months but you can get through it.

Honestly Jim my heart goes out to you. My daughter refused to feed, had floppy episodes, wouldn’t even wake for food. She refused a bottle completely so it was just the breast and she just screamed and screamed and screamed at the breast. Finally though we got through and still breast feeding years later! She was an early sitter and walker as it’s kind of survival to get up and comfortable as quickly as possible! Jesse is just gorgeous. Hang in there guys. ❤️

Lots of babies have reflux but very few have severe reflux. I have been were you are, the trick is getting allergy blood tests, switching to specialist milk and having stronger medicine than Gaviston. My son was put on gastro resistant powder.
It is important to advocate for your baby as we found this quite hard. I hope you find some relief for the poor Jesse soon ❤

I hear you guys my daughter had reflux and it took 1 month of endless crying for it to be diagnosed and 3 months in total for medication to kick in. Tuff times but just know there is an end to it. Drives in the car, the bjorn and any kind of upright position helps. Good luck xx

Had a reflux baby with a suspected milk protein allergy. He was on Frisolac Pep AC which seemed to help, but our gastroenterologist also suggested putting a tiny bit of infant rice cereal into his bottle at around 4 months to improve the taste a bit and to make the formula a bit thicker so it doesn't come back up as easily. We now have a strong healthy eight year-old with no allergies in sight. I promise you will survive and your boy will thrive soon ❤

My daughter had the milk protein intolerance. I was feeding her and had to cut out dairy, but also eggs, nuts and soya as they have a similar protein to milk and I noticed that when I ate them her symptoms came back. So just be aware of that when weaning. It was heartbreaking to see her in pain like that. At 10 months I could do it no more and got the prescription milk - first one wasn't hydrolysed enough, second one she gobbled up as she was so hungry! She didn't outgrow the milk intolerance until around 6 yrs (glass of oat milk at school milk time! but bit by bit she tolerated it. She's 10 now and absolutely fine by the way although I don't think she's ever downed a glass of milk. Good luck with it, hope things get better soon.

We had a reflux baby too, it's the hardest thing in the world! Sending so much love and strength to both of you. Please follow the advice of your medical professionals but our son went onto a goat milk formula which worked the best of everything, that and weaning at 4 months because the food purees were thicker. You will get through it xx

Oh Jim I feel so sorry for you all. This is bringing back so many memories for me. I have 2 girls and had my second when the first just turned 2. It was the hardest period of my life. My second baby was exactly like your baba..so agitated and unsettled, literally survived off 2 hours sleep every night for years. Started ranitidine which helped a bit. Time passes and she gradually just got better. Sending lots of empathy - you’re both doing a great job and just know you’re not alone Xxxx

I was this child, I was allergic to whey and had colic with it also. I’m now 31 so was a fair few years ago but it took me 9 years to grow out of it from birth. Also it took my parents 3 years before I was diagnosed thank god it’s more recognised now. My mum said it was so hard but once I got it out of my system I was instantly better so hopefully it won’t be long and hel be feeling much better ❤

3 of my nephews had digestive issues. Breast milk made them sick to their stomach’s as well. 2 are twins, raised in France (we’re American) and they could only sleep being held upright. So, mum needed extra hands. They’re 24 now. 1 is becoming a judge and the other is in officer training, in a military academy. The other nephew, raised in America, just turned 10, and is very tall for his age. All to say, it’ll get better, as he’s able to eat solid foods. They’re all a bit lactose intolerant. Especially, my French nephews. So, no cheese for them.

My daughter had reflux. Its rubbish. She was already a low birth weight so I worried about her thriving. I was reassured that she was still getting all she needed. Thankfully she didn't have silent reflux. As she got older she developed toddler diarrhoea too. But she was still thriving. Fennel is so good for helping reflux. Just be assured he'll be fine. Its just a case of riding out the storm.

Don’t mean to bother anyone but do you guys feel comfortable with pediatric chiropractic? We did that to help with our son from birth and helped sooth many of the digestion issues. My brother also was born with came out to be a opening in his stomach that caused his spitting up. After many hospital stays, solid food did the trick. (Not sure how old your baby is )

Hopefully your see this but my baby who is 10 months old also has silent reflux. I got told to out baby gaviscon in her bottle and it worked wonders. Also she was the only one that had witching hours till 4 moths. At 10 mo the her reflux has come back 😢Dancing fruit was a huge hit with the witching hours though

I am sure your doctor has told you this. So please disregard if he has.
What we do in hospital we elevate the head so he is sleeping at an angle head above feet. This little trick can make life easier not only for you guys but baby too. For reflux going uphill is harder than going downhill and it's also better than lying flat at least if you have his head elevated gravity helps keep his stomach acid in his tummy and that's a good place for it to be.
