  • In this video, I, Dr. Josh Madsen, will be demonstrating and explaining primitive reflexes in adults. Our focus will be on a patient who has faced multiple traumatic brain injuries. However, it's important to note that these reflexes can resurface due to a variety of stressors.
    To begin, we'll test the Moro Reflex, observing the patient's blinking response and startle reflex. We'll then move on to the Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex, where the patient may experience balance issues and hyperextension during specific movements.
    Next, we'll explore the standing asymmetrical tonic neck reflex and the symmetrical tonic neck reflex. This will involve observing the patient's arm and head movements in response to head rotations.
    Additionally, we'll identify the presence of a spinal galant reflex, which can be observed when stroking the patient's back, causing her to curve towards the stimulated side.
    Finally, I will conclude the video by examining the patient's ocular response during side-to-side head movements, allowing us to further understand the impact of these reflexes.
    Overall, this video provides a visual demonstration of primitive reflexes in an adult who has a history of traumatic brain injuries. By showcasing these reflexes, I aim to increase awareness and understanding of their presence in adults and the potential factors that can contribute to their reemergence.

      @kathrynmcgarry309: Can’t tell if you’re coming at this from an anti-appropriation angle or suspicious practitioner of Abrahamic faith angle but in either case, the aspects of yoga practice which are helpful for improving prefrontal cortex and motor nerve function and working with neuroplasticity after an injury are not the spiritual practices associated with it. If somebody said prostrations, bowing, kneeling, or practicing the “crossing-yourself” motion might help rehabilitate a body part after an injury, nobody would have a problem. :)

      as far as i understand it, this is just session 1 of multiple to train/stimulate the brain into using the correct reflex (or suppressing the reflex). so it's a temporary state in this video and would likely regress if the patient stopped treatment before it was fully resolved.
      there's nothing wrong with the body, it's the brain getting confused and using the wrong set of reflexes. he's just reminding the brain to use the other 1. you just have to keep reminding it until the underlying problem goes away (like inflammation) or it rebuilds the pathway to the correct reflexes with all the stimulation

    • @ayamesilver
      @ayamesilver 25 дней назад

      @@user-pj9vw8ic3vit's involuntary so you can't just choose to not follow the reflex. it bypasses the part of your brain that controls your conscious actions, so the signal is sent out before you even know it's been triggered, much less stop it. the best you can do is desensitize a reflex so it's more difficult to trigger, which is how people learn to not flinch at things.
      the only way this could be faked is if the patient didn't actually have the reflexes to begin with and is just pretending to have them. and would have to be a really good actor at that, because everything else points to this being a new patient (reserved body language, but not off put) that's at the center of attention. you can see the patient getting less reserved as time goes on: talking, making a joke, getting more comfortable around him/less "robotic" or stiff movements.
      ^ that stuff alone is difficult to fake, much less micro expressions and such
      i mean, I'm not sure what the lazer is about since you don't have photoreceptors in the back of your head (temperature or something similar?) but sensory feedback would be reasonable to expect if you're trying to stimulate parts of the brain through the nerves. it's just a sign saying "hey, pay attention to me!" and waiting for the brain to catch the hint as to what you want it to do.
      and he said, himself, that it's not an instant cure all. you have to work on it until your brain does it on it's own
