- The story of Kamiyah Mobley has been a touchy subject for two years. The girl who was once known as Alexis Manigo was stolen from her mother Shanara Mobley at birth by her kidnapper Gloria Williams. Gloria raised Kamiyah as Alexis for 18 years and Kamiyah did not learn the truth of her true identity until she went to apply for a job and found out that her birth certificate and social security card was fake. The woman who she thought was her mother had to fess up and let Kamiyah know the truth. Gloria was locked up after the truth was revealed by one of Kamiyah's friends and Kamiyah was later introduced to her birth parents. Because she was still close to the woman that kidnapped her, her birth mother Shanara had a hard time grasping to the fact that she was losing her daughter once again. She recently did an interview where she stated that she wishes Kamiyah would've never come back because it is causing issues with her other kids that have to now fight on their mothers behalf. What do you think about what she said?

Kay Kindra I agree 💯. I don’t condone her actions, however they must allow kamiyah to make these decisions herself. This is all fresh to her and woman who stole her gave her a normal life. So although she was wrong in kamiyah eyes she loved her and treated her right. The guilty one is Gloria Williams. She stole this young mother's child and now they have no bond. Kamiyah feels like she is with strangers and the mom doesn't know how to connect. Ms. Mobley shouldn't speak on it publicly anymore because even though her emotions are understandable, it may be perceived as hurtful to Kamiyah. This young girl is going to be lost for a good while. She is an orphan with two parents. She didn't really know the mom who raised her and she doesn't know the mom who birthed her......it's sad.

The girl could be felling every emotion possible all at once, sad, glad, mad, confused, jealousy, cheated, envy; seeing her siblings who truly knows & bond the mom/family she did not have a chance to know... but a close eye should be kept from the anger I'm hearing she displayed the she could hurt someone or sabotage bcuz of emotion... and come causing so much trouble behind those feelings ....so maybe space is the best thing they can do for her... (I would) but counselling is a must!... they don't need any action in their lives like the movie "Orphan" for real!

The birth mother Shanara still doesn’t have the daughter that was stolen from her as a baby, that is now a woman and Kamiyah lost the only life she ever knew and the only mother she ever had. I don't think Kamiyah is brainwashed because she has no relationship with her biological mother. The kidnapper is all the girl knows, and unfortunately even though she was kidnapped...by the pictures we can all see that Kamiyah probably had a good upbringing. If she didn't, she may have been eager to be with her real mother. 2 years the mother has attempted a bond, but this kidnapper has had 18 years with Kamiyah. We just have to let go and let God. *The kidnapper's sentence is also 18 years...18 years that she stole from Kamiyah's mom.

I'm just waiting for the truth to emerge, that Kamiyah only reached out for the settlement money. She pitched her stepsister the $250K finder's fee because that child hates Gloria. Then she went touring the talkshow circuit for pay. I think her initial curiousity about her birth family has worn off some, and she clings to her dad because her fraud dad disappointed her.

She is speaking out of pure anger. I can't even imagine the pain that she went through back then. Or the pain that she is still going through now as a mother. Let's not forget about Kamiyah either. The family needs some intense counseling. What took years to destroy,.... Will take years to rebuild. I believe that it can be done. If each person is willing to put in the hard work to repair the damage that the kidnapper has done. She may not be able to have Kamiyah in her life the way that she should have always been. I think the daughter grew attached to the kidnapper because that was the only person who raised her, the mentality of attachment is very high in this case. However, I understand how this mother is feeling in this situation. Her baby was taken from her and lost 18 years with her. Finding her only to be rejected by her child is a real gut punch to the heart.

I feel the kidnapper should have been rendered the same torture she inflicted on Kaymya’s biological parents. She should not only go to jail for the 18 years but she shouldn’t be allowed to have any contact with kamya at all. Show her how it feels to have someone stripped away from you. That may also help Kamya understand what her mother has gone through for those 18 years.
I agree. They should be looking at Kamaya as a victim and therefore barring any contact with the kidnapper but instead the system is allowing the woman to still foster a relationship with her victim. That's like a rapist being able to call you everyday to say how much they love you. They may feel they do love you but it's not appropriate for them to reach out to you at all.

Really? Well I'm not a legal adviser. I'm only going by what they stated on the local news here in Jacksonville. Each station had a person with legal background to come on and discuss the case during trial. On each station they discussed blocking visitation and they all had the same conclusion prior to deliberation as to why that wouldn't or couldn't happen. If what you're saying is true then I'm pissed at the prosecutors and judge for not pushing or enforcing that.

The biggest revelation in my life was finding out that the man that raised me for 12+ years wasn’t my blood daddy. He didn’t abduct me but years before I found out the truth he did and i didn’t notice a shift in his feelings towards me. I’ll be 19 this year and I’m still in an adjustment period of building a relationship with my blood family

Alexis can keep her past and her kidnapper. She is of legal age and has freedom of association. But part of being an adult is realizing our decisions can come with consequences. This is one of those decisions because bio mom is just as much a victim. She does not have to accept Gloria, she does not have to stand by on the sidelines & support any relationship between abducted child & kidnapper, and she is entitled to not pursue a relationship with Alexis if she feels it is unhealthy for her. From the looks of it, Alexis is not interested in any relationship and probably felt that way from the start. Nothing bio mom did was going to change that so she should take her personal power back and move forward.

She expects something her daughter cannot give her. She is dismissing all of the years of bonding and rearing the kidnapper Mom gave the girl. Nothing will magically happen. Emotional bonds are sometimes much stronger than blood bonds. If someone were to tell me my mom is not my real mom...after 40 something years...I’d be like “oh well, she’s mom to ME”. This will take time. Healing will need to be had by all concerned...and less TV/interview time.

This is such a sad and tragic story; and I can't imagine the pain that everyone associated with situation it is feeling! If the biological mom wants a relationship with her daughter, she has take her emotions out of it and do everything she can to bond with her daughter! Her daughter is probably struggling to make sense of all this as well! It won't be easy and it might take some time, but she's going to have to make it comfortable for daughter to get to know her mom. I know Mom is hurting (her pain is unimaginable) but to say she wishes her daughter had never come back will make her daughter cling to the only mother she has ever known. Mom has to be the adult in this situation - she's going to have to be the bigger person. She can't get hung up on her daughter not acknowledging her for mother's day or trivial stuff like that. She's going to have to do everything in her power to show her baby how much she loves her, has missed her and that she wants to mend the bond that was broken!

I have a heavy heart for the bio mom. You would think that finding your missing child would be a heartwarming miracle. But I mostly feel sorry for the daughter. I don't understand how the mother is asking for to much when all she said two mother's day past and all she wanted was a text or a card. They reunited and that woman is her mother. But they way she acted was entirely as though she was not accepting. Maybe she should not hv done the show has always been my theory. Way too many issues to work thru.
I personally know the biological mom and there's nothing she wouldn't do for her children ... She's clearly hurt and the matter can only be prayed for no one can possibly understand what they are going thru only thing u can do is pray for their relationship to mend its a devastating thing for both sides mentally. If I found out I was stolen and my mom wasn't my mom, I'd probably still consider her my mom too and would have a hard time bonding with my biological mother as well. It's just a sad situation for everybody involved.
How do you wish your own child would have never came back? Kamiyah was stolen and has a ton of crap dumped in her lap. Two years ago everything was fine until it wasn't. Blaming your own kid for not looking at you as their mother when she has to process all of it by herself is hard. This woman wants to be Kamiyah's only mother and that's just not the case.
Kamiya has known this woman as her mother all her life. She has bonded with her she loves and trusts her. Those feelings don't go away over night. I know that as a mother she has been hurting for years. She needs to accept that Kamiya has nothing to do with the wrong that was committed against her. She needs to realize that Kamiya is a victim too, her whole life is a lie. However 20 years of love and guidance does not go out the window. She still has all those memories and that woman still feels like her mother. That other woman knows her better and raised her. I think that the mom does not have realistic expectations of Kamiya. Now she is punishing her daughter for something that isnt her fault. She is letting the woman who kidnapped her steal even more time and affection. She needs to put her feelings aside and get to know her daughter and find out what her life was like growing up. She needs to get to know her daughter. She just seems to be writing her off for not being who she wants her to be. She needs her now. All she is doing is strengthening the bond between Kamiya and the kidnapper who never turned her back on her.

Smh, she doesn't know her biological family and for her biological mom to be expecting some instant deep bond is ridiculous. She is a stanger to that girl. I think you hit on the core issue. This young lady has lost her whole life, and there's probably a strong sense of guilt at being the catalyst, by confronting the woman she believed was her mother, and all the events that followed. This girl must really be going through it. I hope she has someone she trusts to talk to. Her CORE Beliefs have been shattered. It looks like she was loved and well taken care of by a lonely woman with very poor judgement. The birth mom seems really ready to throw the whole thing away because a complete stranger going through grief can't stop and focus on making her feel like she's important. Who's to say this young lady won't regret coming back also, for the rest of HER life?

I been with my kids all they life and they treat me the same way she getting treated by her own daughter, so i feel her when she say she wish kamiyah never came back. Hell my daughter that i raised without her dad set me up to get hurt by some friends of hers but she treats her dad like he always been around.

I think it's sad an unimaginable... Overall, I can see both sides of this... However fraudulent, Kamiyah was stripped from the life she's always known... It's Just Shay right, I couldn’t even begin to imagine go turmoil this child is going through. She is struggling between the life she had known and the new one she now has to live. Her birth mother is upset and because of her hate towards Gloria, Kamiyah will probably ever feel connected with her. Plus the child's name has been Alexis all along, why even try to change that at this point. It is what it is, the Love bond has cemented between Alexis and Gloria Williams, and there ain't nothing nobody can do to change that. She will defend that woman to the end of time. God help them all.
And it's made worse by the fact that her birth mother is the reason why the mother she chose is behind bars for 18 years. If they could've sorted this out in a more amicable way, Kamiyah could've warmed up more to her original family

When I had my son and after he was out of the intensive care, and with the other infants I thought about my child being taken. So, my 💓 goes out to the birth mother. The child you gave birth to thru no fault of her was taken and her kidnapper she see's as her mother. It's hard to turn your back on someone that did not treat you wrong. To lose your child for all these years and didn't know if she was dead or alive can be emotional. Some women can't go on but, thank God kamiya's real mom did. They both lose and I hope one day this young lady could start appreciating the woman who gave birth to her. 😇😇😇😇😇

Because her father didn't give ultimatums, he allowed his relationship to develop more organically. It was easier for her to bond with her father because she was not raised by one. Her biological mother came in to this with the thought that she is my blood I gave birth to her and we should automatically bond with our blood connection. I understand why she felt that way she's been through an unimaginable hell. I wish she would have gotten counseling and moved slowly and not focused so much on her anger and hatred for Gloria. Eventhough it is justified, her focus should have been on loving her daughter and not having expectations from her child. Her child isn't a baby or a toddler, she's an adult, Gloria was all she knew. She never had a chance to bond with her biological mother. Gloria and Kamiyah are not doing anything to her at this point she's doing it to herself. It's a tragedy all the way around for everyone involved caused by Gloria. I cannot imagine the pain this mother has suffered, however she is now the one causing the suffering to herself, Kamiyah and her other children. She's the adult and the mother and you cease contact because she didn't contact you or send a card on mother's day? That would hurt like hell but my love for my children would never allow that to shut them out. She needs serious counseling to get through this and build a healthy relationship with her daughter. Unfortunately I don't see it happening until she forgives Gloria, gets counseling and let's go of the hatred and accepts that she cannot change history.

Not only has she lost 2 mothers, she has lost herself and all those she thought of as blood relatives, including the man she thought was her father. The blood mother needs to realise her daughter is mourning major loses and that she and her daughter both need serious help.
Kamiyah in my opinion is in the right thinking of the kidnapper as her mom. The kidnapper raised her and loved. Kamiyah's birth mother is wrong in blaming Kamiyah for what happened. I understand and support Kamiyah for being loyal to the woman who she thought was her mother. I agree with the mother and my heart goes out to her. It can't be easy to be reunited with your child after so many years and all that time was lost. The mother and daughter were robbed of the mother/child bond they should have had and the entire situation is now impacting the other children. I can't even imagine how much pain the mom is in.
I was adopted at 2 months after being born prematurely @ 6 months. My dads sister adopted me and i only found out @ 16 that i was adopted. And the pple i hd called aunty n uncle wer in actual fact my biological parents. Unfortunately i lost both parents 2 years after i found out😢. And my foster parents about the same time. I understand kamiyah. That bond wth gloria even though she knows the circumstance can never be broken. To date wen someone asks about my mother the one who raised me always tks first place. Then i remember but i hv two. This mother has to know its not automatic. Hugs
