Self-righteous folks are those that think killing criminals is wrong, while simultaneously demonizing anyone who dares defend themselves, victims and victims' families.

You can count on your hand the number of times the manga or series showed Light protecting victims. The vast majority of people he murdered were those in the system for life at the start. He didn’t even do it because those people should get out eventually. Unproductively killing criminals is wrong, and the only way Light justified himself was with his massive God complex. He is self righteous because he derives his ability to kill from his moral superiority. He justifies himself with tautologies.
He didn’t get carried away, he was like that from the beginning.

Man, this was a really solid parody yet the animation still looks as fantastic as Death Note itself. I hope one year they could do a more semi-spooky version of the original Yugioh / Season 0, maybe let Bart perform Penalty Games on Nelson & other bullies.
They used the same team as Death Note so of course, it would.
I don’t imagine they’re gonna dip their toes TOO often in the anime sphere again after this- but as a big Yugioh fan, and an avid enjoyer of season 0, I’d adore it if that concept were brought to life. 😭
They should give a better ending to Attack on Titán.

Lisa is indeed a person who hates killing people on the surface, but actually writes a lot of names in Death Note.

I like how “L” Barto holds up the diary like how L held up Misa’s phone that one time.
I think Lisa would be smart enough not to incriminate herself in her own diary.
We’ll also Bart lives right next to her. Probably heard Steve Johnson explaining to her how the death tome works, and how she killed all those people.

I wish there could be a parody of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Danganronpa, Mekakucity Actors, The Irregular at Magic High School, The World Ends With You, and/or Belle (2021) in one of the segments of any one of the future Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror Specials.
I WANT A DANGANROPA PARODY!!! maybe in a full length thing like Not It was due to the premise and how it would be hard to condense, but Krustykuma/Skinnerkuma/etc. would be super funny to watch. The art style could even change for the executions to fit the paper doll style!!!
Also if there’s a yugioh parody, I want it to parody the Season 0/early manga versions with the shadow games and the gruesome punishments!

I love the detail they added to catching Al’s mannerisms with Bart.
It was a good way to pull off the twist: Keep Bart out of the story but design the Shinigami to look a lot like him to make viewers think that's what his role in the short was, but reveal that no he's actually there as himself still.
It's also pretty funny how Lisa's personality overlaps with Light's so well.

What's absolutely brilliant about this whole parody is that Lisa (who's a genius) is pitted against another genius. It's like the Battle of the Geniuses with a dash of Light Side/Dark Side mixed in!

Funny thing, in the original story shinigami are inmune to the death note. The only known way to kill one requires is a contrived one that essentially amonts to them commiting suicide.
I actually wished this was the ending in the Death Note anime where Light becomes a Shinigami. That would have been a better ending. And I would demand it to happen.
Man I haven't watched The Simpsons in more than a decade, this was worth coming back for, at least for the Treehouse of Horror of this year. It was pretty good. I realized that Lisa sounds like Marge sometimes, whether that's intentional or not.
The best thing I've seen come out of modern Simpsons. Yes, even better than the Lego episode.

I don't care what anyone says about this segment. I LOVE IT and major PROPS to DR Movie for animating it. One question I have is the end credits of this Treehouse of Horror. Did they use music and sounds from "Kyrie" by Yoshihisa Hirano? I thought the "REEE REEE REEE" in the Simpsons theme sounded like the one in "Kyrie". Am I wrong?
