Awesome work man!! Loved this series...I haven't bought it yet but I will after watching your videos once I am back from my july 4th vacation 🙂 Thank you for making this series!
That LSAS got you in on final approach! I still have fond memories of the PMDG MD11 in FS9 using 2D panels, the system complexity really blew me away! This was before i got comfortable with the Boeing philosophy of doing things. I'd wait till the extended package releases because i wish this to be a proper study level sim.
Great video mate! Though a question despite arming my spoilers handle. Seems my spoilers do not deploy on landing? Do another flight to confirm but noticed they didn’t deploy at all
I'm not totally influenced on this one!! And it's a bit overpriced for me fit what it is. I'll wait for the PMDG 777F. As usual, great tutorial vids. 👍🏻
Hello! Where do i press to disengage the AP when landing? I am pressing "auto flight" but Betty wont stop calling auto pilot........................ :(
I have done 4 landings now and it really struggles to pick up the ILS sometimes not at all. Can be at initial slope height or even below and the aircraft will not establish. Feq and crs are set correctly with landing armed.
He didn't. He disengaged the autopilot to hand fly it the last few hundred feet, but the autothrottle remains on managing the speed (160 kts). When the aircraft touches down there are weight switches on the wheels/undercarriage. So when the weight of the aircraft is on the wheels the auto thrust is automatically disconnected.
I wonder how many times you said "like so" in this video... Other than that, I really like your tutorial of the MD-11. I'm going to buy this beauty now. Thanks for doing this!
Is auto throttle supposed to disengage on touchdown? lol cause' mine sure as hell didn't! ..and one looks very silly trying to stop an fully loaded MD-11 when the throttle tries to maintain approach speed as our wheels are rolling! Seems like in full Autoland mode the AT will disengage, but that didn't seem to happen when I hand flew it on approach. Also when you disengage AP, why does that damn "autopilot" aural warning keep sounding and how do you shut it off?
I agree, makes it extra hard to judge. Typically I'll land about 400fpm and 1.3G or thereabouts which is firm but this one was a heavy landing 😅 20ft seems more like 2ft doesn't it! Didn't help my rate of descent was high - like I said in the video it's a pain to land 😂
@ohman0232 If you uninstall the USA - 3D Photogrammetry Cites package, it fixes it! Arlington is included in that, and for some reason, that completely overrides the airport scenery.
@@Hagen-HenrikKowalski absolutely... The MD CEOs actually ended up becoming the leaders of Boeing in some weird way and that's probably when the culture of profit over safety began
@@BritishAvgeek yeah i mean i really wonder why boing even agreed to that in the first place ... given that macdonell models where phased out almost immediately (apart from th 717). Btw great tutorial mate virtually the md11 is really fun to fly !
@@Hagen-HenrikKowalski So curious, what about it do you find “quirky” that equals a bad design. I’d argue a lot is unique, but in actuality, a lot of those things are pretty awesome in real life. I work with a ton of guys who’ve flown both, and pretty much every one loves the MD, for those unique features Boeings don’t have.
@@bradskis81 It was a quote from the video however I get that many pilots love the plane exactly for the reasons it is rather dangerous in comparison. For instance the high landing speed necessitated by the smaller horizontal stabilizers. Than its the simlple fact that macdonnal douglas did exactly what boing does now, saving by compromising the design (albeit not as bad as the DC-10 with its cargo doors). I get that its fun to fly but not exactly the most secure option. However the third engine gives a nice kick I admit
The MD-11 is a handfull. But damn i love her!!! Thanks for helping us find our way!
The 727 is a handful haha. Give it a shot without the help of the crew phone.
Thanks for this mate. MD is definitely an interesting plane to fly.

You're welcome 🙂
You are the best at msfs tut thank you so much with help with all the planes especially with the pmdg 777 I love it thank you so much❤
right on time, i just reached TOC and am reading about descents and approaches, usually i miss something and this wil fill in the gaps! thanks man
@@jakubkochanski9834 great timing 😂
Super video managing speeds are tricky well done
Thanks - probably my worst landing yet in the MD-11 though 😂😂

@@rshvkkt91 it did didn't it 😂 I find it quite tricky to land well!
Being waiting for this
damn ,what a hard landing ,,man!!!!
so if it is in profile mode it won't capture? Ive done three flights now where it won't grab the localizer or glidescope
Yeah I've had ILS issues but found it I do it the way I do in this video, it works nicely. If I leave it in nav/prof then it doesn't

Have you managed to get this working when the cockpit interaction mode is in ‘universal’ rather than ‘legacy’?

I must have missed it when after landing should the autopilot turned off?

What is that landing rate add On?
I would love to see this out on Xbox.

Press the autopilot disconnect button again to get it to stop
Is there a way to turn off the rattle sound what’s on all the time in the cockpit Its so annoying I can’t turn it off in mine
Change the Standby Instrument settings in the EFB to Digital
Well I crashed on my first doing my second full flight fingers crossed
