And he sure did & ‘definitely’ go by the laws of his residential nation. Even tho he still carried the WI umpire ID of such.
Since the 1995 SFW series in the Caribbean, the ACB (WTF are they? - u may ask. A: currently CA - Cricket Australia), approached Bucknor b4 the series started and said ‘since u want to relocate to Australia and live there, as long as u give us good decisions, we’ll set u up and your wife, and send your kids to the best schools in Melbourne.’ True story, as even ABC Radio (who have the broadcasting rights to Cricket) in Australia mentioned it a few times in the past.

@@keraptisblackrazor2658 Well, that's of what I heard on the radio, back in the 1st decade of this century. As I was living in Australia at the time. It's a bloody true story, and was being spoken of a few times.
Also, I met a guy who relocated to Bridgetown, Barbados who grew up with Brian Lara in Trinidad and he also knew Dwight Yorke (whom I personally knew Brian for a good decade - I first met him in the 1992 season in Australia, when the World Cup was on), who was close to one of Bucknor's family members and vouched that he heard the 'radio story' from a couple of others and said it was actually fact, that Bucknor took those kinds of bribes or 'enticements' to relocate to Australia.

For 15 years I've heard that the umpires in the Sydney test of the 2008 Aus v Ind series were biased and cheated India, from Indians.
When in reality it was just a terrible umpiring performance.
Steve Bucknor and Mark Benson made 13 errors between them in that match.
      5 went against Australia unfairly.
