Geralt's story reached a logical endpoint in 3. Let him stay in fantasy France and get busy with Yennefer (or, more rarely Triss) into his last years. Lol.
Completely Agree, The Witcher 3 and its dlc was the most complete and satisfying story I can remember in gaming. There were better isolated stories in other games , but in terms of a complete package at the scale of what the witcher 3 was .... that game was truly special.

Yeah she's more demi-god than Witcher unless they retcon a good bit of that. On the other hand that does give them the option to bring her to more settings, literally other worlds. Just not sure that's great for having a more structured narrative.

Honestly, I never thought you could connect story wise to a “create your own character” until they made Cyberpunk. V was cool. Still, having a main character like Geralt or Arthur Morgan elevates a game even further

True I’m playing rdr2 for the first time right now… I like the almost full fleshed out character that you get to guide along, or maybe they guide us 😉 Yet they managed to make a customizable character have almost as much depth and history as an established one. It worked better than I expected.

Whats great about Grealt and Arthur is while they are great set chracters you can also have an impact on the Arthurs chracter devlopment is up to the player and Grealt you can infulence who he sides with this more so the case in Witcher 2 were choices really impact the whole second half of the story.

If I'm not mistaken by the book there is no female Witchers, originally they took boys and girls to undergo the mutagen process, all the girl died and the majority of boy did too. As only boys survived they stop taking girls to undergo the process. Unless they go with Ciri and change substantially the gameplay to be focused on her powers.
No. The Trial of the Grasses was designed to work only on boys. The mutagen process doesn't work on females unless they do the research to have the mutagens match that of female body composition.

Me too. The Witcher universe has amazing characters, but I don't think they can let loose all of their most renowned characters. Some of them will come back in Witcher 4, I am sure of it
Agreed. And no customizable characters. CD Projekt works best when they make their own. Even V in Cyberpunk imo sucks. Playing as V was the only thing that sucked me out.

@@Penigale Broke the lore? It's an RPG mate. You play as you want. There are countless RPGs in pre established IP's in which you can create your own character. And for good reason. Millions of people enjoys playing them. Not many people are sticklers for "lore" if they get to make more decisions and have more customization. And if I may ask, how did it break the lore? By everyone not having the same timeline/story? Geralt didn't have the same story/timeline in the Witcher 3 for every player.

a faceless, loreless, generic witcher is my dream... We can have Geralt a books character with depth/lore + 3 games over 15 years of character building, or some generic dead bland 'make it yourself witcher'.
I'm honestly very sceptical on this tbh. But I'm very curious which direction they are gonna take. Gerald not being the protagonist makes sense as he was considering to retire at the end of Blood and Wine. A character creation doesn't make sense to me because they will have to give Male or Female choice option and based on their lore it's not possible to have a female witcher. So if they go for either Male only or male/female choice they'll get backlash either way.
So one possibility I see is we playing as Ciri. Although she's not really a witcher and thus kinda goes against the title of the game. If this is the direction they took then I'd rather have it as a new franchise than be a part of Witcher tbh. Also she is kinda OP with all her abilities so idk what they're gonna do about it.
The route I hope they go for is we close the chapter of Geralt and Ciri. Then we play as a different character from a different school in a different timeline even. I think we explored enough about the school of the wolf.
to be fair the Witcher series as a whole (after the short stories at least) has been almost entirely about Ciri. Even the books as they went on focused far more on Ciri than Geralt. She's been the main character of the series since after blood of elves pretty much.
@@Jason-p6f ya.. but I'd rather prefer a new character. I see more potential there tbh. Witcher 3 ended on a good note and it was a good way to end their chapter. From a gameplay perspective playing as Ciri with no witcher abilities wouldn't feel like playing witcher imo. Plus NPCs won't treat her like a witcher, which is another part of the experience where they look down on you and see you nothing more than a killer for hire. And she is pretty OP since unlocked her powers to the point where she was one shoting everything. Idk how they're gonna balance that out without going through the cliche story line where the protagonist loses all powers or gets it stolen and now they have to go on an adventure to retrieve them all back.
I hope they surprise me in a good way and not ruin the franchise like the common trend where that's been happening recently.
Ciri being the playable character won't go against the title as she is often referred to as the "witcher girl"
@@TytonTerrapin She can't use any of the witcher abilities, can't drink potions, won't even fit in any Armor because in that period women didn't engage in close combat. Doing alchemy, preparing for a monster based on its weakness and using witcher abilities are core parts of the series. She can't do any of that and will turn the game into a generic hack and slash. So no it doesn't fit the title imo

I really want Geralt to be the main protagonist, but yeah his ending in B&W is deserved and his journey has come to an end.
Geralts story is really well wrapped up in the witcher 3. I'm glad they are not messing with it
They are definitely going to do what cyberpunk did it allowed for customizability but also allowed for the characters to have an in-depth story
Doubt that. Cyberpunk is fundamentally different. The witcher has a pre-established lore with politics and relationships. Cyberpunk doesn't. You can be anyone. You are V. One of the biggest things about the Witcher series was all those easter eggs combined the story telling based on Characters you already know. This would go against the entire franchise and very hard to retcon for Witcher 4+.
Besides, much easier to develop one story instead of multiple with multiple voices and interactions.

A lot of devs intentionally make characters ugly now... Just look at what BioWare did to Dragon Age characters between DA2 & Inquisition or the character designs from Mass Effect 3 to Andromeda.

The only way I see the Witcher 4 being comparable to no 3 is if they make their own character and create and good and in depth lore or story for that character. I understand the hype or intrigue behind making your own Witcher and the only way I see that being successful is if they do it like cyberpunk and it still feels like your playing something with a soul

Expansion has a bad optimization again. My pc was on the edge in that game with fsr on. Probably would not run it. I left it for second playthrough on new pc or after patch.

You left out the most crucial points as why this game is the most advanced. They are working with Unreal to make enhancements and modifications to the core engine to better the game a experience overall.

Geralts' story is pretty well wrapped up. Itd be cool to play as Ciri but shes OP. I'd love it if they went the Cyberpunk direction and had a male and female voice, and instead of backgrounds you could pick a witcher school? It's just strange to me that CDPR invented a bunch of new schools and we know nearly nothing about them, and now they're adding another??
They're being quiet because they were heavily criticized for making too many promises with Cyberpunk 2077 before they had finalized everything, including the consoles it would come on. As for the game, my guess is that it's going to be a set character that can be modified like Mass Effect's Sheppard, with a male/female version.

It's the most advanced in terms of development as in it's ahead of the others and closer to release.
Ngl, I'm really not a fan of Ciri. She's fine as a side character, but I'm praying they don't try to force her as the protag; I feel she'd be a very poor replacment for Geralt. Honestly, If she ends up being the main character, I'm very likely to consider just passing on the game.

Phantom Liberty is a cool story expansion but I still think cyberpunk is pretty lackluster in the open world department. Night city is pretty but that’s about it.
I think the city is huge but a lot of it is empty with closed storefronts. They either made the city too big or needed a couple more years filling it out.

Moreover, it is completely pointless to do so unless you add something meaningful to every single place, which would not make sense bcos there's no way that every single place in a city has something of interest to V.
The big issue is lack of side-activities like mini-games. The stuff that they have in the arcades in CP2077 is meh and requires too much effort to get the rewards. Mini-games one of the strengths of many Japanese games like Yakuza. Even though they're not open world, it's just fun to roam around and play all sorts of games like darts, poker, blackjack, roulette, even play against NPCs that you've befriended.

The only good option for CDPR is to make an already established character the protagonist. Either lambert, Eskel or Vesemir. I want lambert the most as he seems to have so much depth and emotion compared to Geralt or many other Witchers. I also would love for Geralt to be the protagonist again in future titles/spinoffs. I wanna say too that people need to get that goofy idea of ciri being the protagonist out of their heads. It won’t ever happen and yall are just horny incels that keep begging for it and it’s weird. I don't understand why CDPR never produced a remake of The Witcher or The Witcher 2. TW was only available on PC & TW2 only on PC & Xbox 360, & the franchise didn't explode in popularity until after TW3 was released in 2015. This means that the majority of new fans to the franchise never had an opportunity to play the 1st 2 games... If CDPR remade TW & TW2, & remastered TW3 for next gen consoles, that would allow a whole group of fans to experience these games for the 1st time, while also buying them time to create TW4.

So as a major life long fan of Star Wars, I watch everything that comes out to form my own opinion tbh. There are things I like more than others and Star Wars has always had a bit of corniness to it, but I always took it with the good and the bad. The Acolyte is the first show I truly just do not like at all. I find it laughably bad, but tbh I keep watching for 3 main reasons: 1) at this point it’s almost like a car crash to me, you just can’t help to look to see how bad it is so chalk that up to morbid curiosity. 2) I do like to finish things through to give my own rating even though I’m not a RUclipsr. My family and friends typically look to me for the latest recommendations. I don’t want anyone to say I never saw it and couldn’t form my own opinion. 3) I don’t want to lose hope in Star Wars yet. There’s still some things I’m looking forward to but if a season 2 of the Acolyte ever got announced….i wouldn’t waste my time lol. I already started this season

It honestly scares me how many people forget that they used to focus on one game at a time and dropped the ball every time. The Witcher 1 was a buggy mess, The Witcher 2 run very badly, The Witcher 3 was a buggy mess and run badly until many many patches later. Cyberpunk is probably never gonna get fixed. Now they focus on 3+ games while promising the same scope, it can only end in a disaster.
I remember they said they would like a game in which you create your witcher and it would take place when they were abundant. I hope they stayed with this idea.

Im just hoping the game goes back in time as opposed to forward. I feel like Witcher 3 was a logical conclusion to both Geralt and Ciri. Additionally, monsters are becoming more rare so going back in time presents the opportunity for more monsters and content

Witcher 4 should be cross gen. They are testing on consoles ever since alpha version. Full production also typically takes 1-3 years so it should release by 2027. Ps5 generation is also expected to last a bit longer due to the shortages.
Can't wait to play this 4 years after release. I'm so hyped.

I'm getting tired of the obligatory female protagonists. Hasn't the entertainment industry proved enough that it accepts females?The fact is, witchers are by lore, all males, and the vast majority of gamers are male and would much rather play as men. And playing as Ciri would be ridiculous. She's much too powerful and she's just not that interesting as a character. I'd prefer a cat eyed REAL witcher. That's all I want. I don't think a "create your own witcher" would work as well as a dev crafted protagonist. Just my 2 cents.
CDPR's Witcher lore is different from the book lore.
Id like a prequel series where you play as a young Vesemir. The age of magic would be more shrouded in mystery and darker. Although create your own Witcher would be good too.
They already did that with the animated series.
To me, Geralt’s story is finished. There’s not much else to explore for another 100 plus hours (I can’t think of anything at the moment at least). So having a new Witcher-a female Witcher or a player-created character, I don’t mind either direction-makes a lot of sense.
I have very little faith in anything CDPR is putting out, and tbh, if they go the create a character route, to me, that's just a lazy cop out, the biggest appeal of TW3 was playing as a character with established lore in the universe, not a generic, enter custom character name here created character.

I used to be excited for the next witcher game, but given everything that was on the news about CDPR in the past 2-3 years, I instead have a lot of doubt and probably won't buy the game.

I think they are gonna go the same way as V in Cyberpunk. He is a guy that is called X, and he has lived through X, but you can choose his hair, and beard you know. I would personally prefer a new witcher. Also kind of wished they picked one of the already established schools, instead of making a new one. I mean no school other than the wolf school is really explored that much, so I dont see why we need a brand new one for the next game.
Could be the Lynx school is like a rebirth of witchers though, where the remnant witchers from the other schools unite again? At least a lynx is kind of like a wolf and cat, so the cat and wolf school might have united since there is what like 8witchers left total?
Lynx was known to have trained girls in the lore of the games. Make use of that how you want

Any incremental iteration on any project will be “the most advanced”… technically speaking, a modded witcher 3 is more advanced than witcher 3.

Probably a translation mistake. They mean most advanced in progress - related to the release date meaning of their AAA games they have planned, its the game that is coming out the soonest. They didn't mean technically advanced.

I managed to nab The Witcher 3 for $3.99, this past Summer Sale. I’ve been interested in trying out the series for quite a while. Apparently I had bought the first two games all the way back in 2016, though I wasn’t able to get into them at the time.
Have fun. It's an absolute blast and special game, especially the Blood and Wine DLC which I would do last. I actually just finished my first playthrough 100%. Over 300 hours, so you're in for a long adventure ;)
If they did the new witcher like they did with cyberpunk as far as the main character id be totally down for that. Being able to choose the sex for the protagonist is always a good thing i think.
