We are diving into the heart of the NBA's current crisis, the referees. Focusing on the contentious relationship between players and referees, inflated egos and raging emotions. Also analyzing how the evolving rules of the game have disproportionately empowered offensive players. In today's game the referees often seem driven by emotion rather than objective judgment, leading to an excessive number of technical fouls and free throws that are disrupting the game's flow. How can the NBA fix this problem?

I feel like this sums up my main issues with the NBA perfectly. The officiating problems remind me an awful lot of the NHL and their trainwreck officials problem, only at least the NBA has some measures in place like the refs report of the final minute. The NHL doesn't let anyone ask the refs questions and if you speak out about the problems, you get fined more than you would if you injured someone on the ice, all while immature fans act like it's somehow okay to have that happen in the US' 12th choice sports league.

@@xxWinterSpacexx uh no. The players have terrible attitudes. They and their players association are big reasons why the NBA is garbage now. Imagine making millions of dollars, only having to work 65 days a year, and you STILL complain about it constantly. They're lazy...entitled... arrogant. They have no respect for the game or what came before. So yeah. They deserve a ton of the blame.

There is actually such a really simple way to fix the problem. Have the Refs hold a press conference after every game. Problem solved.

Every player complains about not getting a foul call. They chirp at the refs the whole fricken game. If I were a ref, I would get tired of the player not keeping his mouth shut!! So blowing a whistle or not is a way of "getting back" at the player. I.m not saying its right, but its how I look at it in my pov.

Free throws attempted have been on a 4-decade DECLINE, so your premise is incorrect.
Free throws have been on the decline for decades now. The four lowest-foul seasons on record are also the four most recent seasons. Adjusted for pace, there are 20 percent fewer free throw attempts in the 2020s than there were in the 1980s and 1990s.
Read "Does the NBA Have A Free Throw Problem" written by Zach Kram in the Ringer, dated Dec 28, 2023.
Your presentation is based on a lot of nothing, just impressions that you have picked up here and there. Did you do any research before you made this video?

Did you watch the whole video? I actually used a graph from that exact article from The Ringer. Around (8:16) Maybe I wasn't clear there but I was trying to present the nuance and how it seems like its been more now, but its actually less. I was talking about a few different issues (refs, egos, techs, defense, offense....) Maybe it was too many points together and wasn't explained clearly.

@@ShootersTouch30 But you cite the study and come to the OPPOSITE conclusion There is a SLIGHT uptick this year. But the trend is down. And your title says that there is a ref problem??? This is the issue. This perpetuation of the myth that the refs are bad. They are not. And you say that there are an excessive number of FTS and technicals and provide a bunch of anecdotal evidence to show what exactly? That the flow of the game is affected? Yet scoring is way up.

@@milart12 Like I said earlier, the video talks about a few different points all together. Refs calling more techs not allowing players to play because of emotions. And all the bad inconsistent foul calls this season. And cheating refs. And skewed offense vs defense dynamics. And the free throw attempts trend looking one way but is actually another. Maybe its too many different points bunched together but I do think they all affect each other. Anyways I'll try to be more clear next time. 🤝

And now another half baked RUclips video. Remember, those who know never have to speak, those who don't know have to present like peacocks when they show their tail feathers. The current players are not more talented at all, they are just allowed to score at will because the defense gets a foul just by breathing on the offense. Hell put any average Joe on the court with these rules and you will get 20 points easily from said average Joe. Free throws are a direct product of how corrupt and crooked the league is now. You really think the Lakers beat the Warriors by one point in that one game before the All Star break? Returning from the break, the Warriors basically deleted the Lakers. You have no idea what you are even talking about while trying to address the ref problem. Just because Google allows anyone to have a channel and post any content within community guidelines doesn't mean you should be posting anything related to the NBA or the sport of basketball period. 🤦
