I am French too and did not grow up eating Nuttela crêpes. But truth is the typical breakfast for kids in France is a bowl of hot milk with instant sweet chocolate powder and bread or brioche with butter and jam. So only the butter is good , the rest is sugar. I now feed my child dinner left overs, or soft boiled eggs or over easy and she is not hungry for many hours.

Teh butter is good... UNLESS you eat sugar along it. It comes down to the Randle-cycle effect and to the fact that the sugar will make the mitochondria less effective in utilizing the energy but when you let the mitochondria IN THAT STATE burn saturated fat, it will "overheat"...

I lived in France for a few years and would always have a plain croissant (no extra butter or jam) and a latte. I felt amazing and never really wanted to eat again until the evening. I'm thinking the fat/carb ratio plus protein in the milk (+ caffeine!) kept me going? I actually lost weight during those two years but like Jessie said, the evening meal always began with an hor d'oeuvres of veggies (I was living with a French family). I've tried to keep it going. I don't always have a croissant but I don't forbid it either, if I feel like one (only one - that's the other key!).

I have been doing intermittent fasting for 10 months. I started with daily fast/eating windows. I have moved on to 2 fasts per week for 36 hours each time (including the time I sleep), on two non consecutive days. I calculate nothing, check nothing of what I eat, but my whole way of eating changed naturally towards exactly what she suggests. I have been craving veggies, eggs, turkey breast, hummus, to break my fast for a long time now. And it’s the same the rest of the day, I do not crave the same things anymore at all. And I have lost 42 pounds of fat so far. No muscle loss at all. I wish I had known that my problem was linked to my insulin way before last year! I never had energy like this, focus capacity, my mood has never been so good, anxiety down, no more unexplained pains and aches… According to my doctor, after 40, losing weight would be so much harder, but actually, it has never been easier, because I finally understand how this work.

I agree with a lot of what she says. However, like most speakers, she does not distinguish between honey and processed sugar. There is a lot of misunderstanding regarding this issue (some might even call it ignorance). Raw unprocessed unfiltered honey is a gift of the universe. This honey heals wounds and burns, boosts the immune system, and kills germs to say the least. Sadly, most people are not aware of the healing power of honey , and most "nutritionists" online considers it merely a mixture of fructose and glucose. Ever thought about the thousands of kilometers those little bees have to travel to produce honey? Is it just to produce glucose and fructose? Please bear in mind that the honey I am referring to is NOT the cheap honey found on supermarket shelves , or the one added to cereals. I am talking about quality honey that has not been heated or filtered or messed with in any way.

My keto dinner and snack routine. I have a deep Staub cast iron enameled frying pan. Almost every night I make a stew of finely chopped meat that gets fried first in avocado oil, then add thinly sliced veggies - onion, celery, red, yellow and orange peppers and thin cut zucchini and yellow summer squash. Black pepper, thin sliced elephaant garlic or garlic powder and ssome butter. It boils down into a stew in its own juices, maybe a little cooking wine to keep it from boiling dry. Boil for a while, then crack five eggs on top, cover and turn off heat. The eggs are for snacks the next day. Freeze left over stew.

"Cage Free", "Free Range" and "Organic" eggs are all basic the same as regular low priced eggs. The chickens are not allowed to roam and eat naturally. The only eggs you should buy are "Pasture Raised", in which chickens are literally allowed to roam freely outdoors and eat grass.

    • @littlepotato2741
      @littlepotato2741 Год назад +9

Technically, "pasture raised" doesn't have a legal, enforceable definition. At least here in the US. So you have to do a little more digging into the company farming the eggs. And that's why you will often not see people recommend buying pasture raised eggs because it has no meaning legally. It's the legal equivalent of buying milk from happy cows.
Beyond that small issue, I totally agree that pasture raised is the best way for healthy and nutritious eggs.

I started only this afternoon after finishing another of her podcasts on another channel. My first meal was eating at chik fil a and then made my own dinner. I had been going from cutting carbs to craving sweets multiple times a day AGAIN. After the two meals, the lunch meal, I included a peach shake (heaven forbid) and subbed a side salad for my fries with a grilled chicken sandwich. That was around 1 pm today. I wasn't hungry and didnt eat my dinner until 10 pm. I am and have been almost prediabetes since 2017. I was told last month to go on cholesterol medication. I am going to recheck my bloodwork again next month. I had begun to watch my carbs again and lost 7 pounds on my own, but as I mentioned wothin a month the cravings came back again. In the right ORDER I can HAVE the carbs I love. How absolutely encouraging and exciting! I was skeptical for about a half a day, as most plans let me down. This was FREE. Oh! Id been using the AC Vinegar for other reasons and was drinking it WITH my meals. Tonight i drank it with water BEFORE the meal. Im so full and i dont want any sweets or anything else as i am full but not crashing. And I always want sweet, even if I am already full. I don't mean to jump the gun, but I had a gut feeling my glucose level was the issue (so did my previous care provider as she tried me on a few glucose control meds, but two made me sick and one was $90 a month with insurance, so I quit them). However NOTHING in my bloodwork--go figure; still doesnt have to be to be bad I have read). I have been let down so many times that I was kind of bashing the first interview (ironically like she was saying in THIS interview) after halfway finishing her first podcast I heard while i was eating the lunch and making a very late dinner. Oh, and I forgot to mention -I had a panic attack in the am because I had coffee with no breakfast, and I am sensitive to caffeine to begin with. I don't feel like a truck ran over me yet like I normally would afterward. I'm really praying this will help reverse the insulin resistance and keep the inflammation (I have adult acne with menopause worse than in my teens, as well as body pain mostly triggered by gluten sensitivity). If I can lose some weight- great, bc I am obese and have pretty much given up, bc dieting literally makes me very sick about two weeks in on any program except extreme carb cutting, which is impossible to maintain or stick with long-term. I would be ecstatic to lose 10-20, though 40-50 would be ideal. And any improvement in my extreme anxiety since menopause would be an amazing and welcomed improvement. For once in a very long time, I am cautiously encouraged.

I am sitting here listening to this video and I realized I am almost 2 hours past my normal dinner and I am not hungry. Listen I am always hungry, always. I go through my day just anticipating the next snack or meal. I am trying to be hungry now and I am just not. This feels so freeing and odd. But to put in perspective I am tracking calories or I mean logging my food choices. Even at logging 2500 cals and even 4000 cals some days I went to bed hungry. I am at 1600 cals today and I am full. I know that restricting is not a part of this method and I am not restricting I am just legit not hungry, I feel full and energized and aware and I for once am not driven by eating. I will practice this for my lifetime now, it’s sustainable and no guilt. Plus the change in my life within a week is just amazing.. and it’s such simple changes. In 2002 Leslie Kenton published Age Power which was saying pretty much everything Jessie says. Nice to know her work has finally become more mainstream. She begins the book with an explanation of glycation and inflammation as the causes of aging and disease - and before that there was Dr Atkins who was vilified by those pushing the high carb low fat diets so popular at the time. I wonder how many diabetics had their lives shortened by being told to eat low fat, high carb diets?

Funnily enough her diet used to be called the enzyme catalyst diet or something similar. I remember thrifting that book in highschool about 15 years ago. I lost so much weight!
Gained it back because that author emphasised fresh cut raw veggies as starters which was hard to sustain once I started college. But aside from that he also gave a lot of importance to fermented foods and vinegar before meals.
I think that book was published in the 70s-80s.

I ve never heard anything like it need to move if wants to eat starches. I m so insulin sensitive i can eat 1kg of potatoes a day and won t gain any weight at all. Some gurus said i have genetics so good but hey why entire village in my area all looks slim and fit then seems special genetic viligers ? I don t think so. I will tell you what one old farmer told me once back in time . Human cells are absorbing fats or carbs and now the trick is once you consider the cell as foam sponge and spill it it with water and sugar its so easily sucked in thus needs less insulin to transport it to it. But once you sill it with oil and then sugar water comes at sponge what happens sugar can t be absorbed so easily becaouse fats is preventing it and blood glucose is increased then body activates more insulin to kind of pushing this through fatty membranes of songe. So since i heard this i believe becaouse i don t move much aside of walk and farming work and we are all fit and slim. And yes we don t fry or use oils at all becaouse we don t have it. I was literraly asked by dr. i need to start eating oils becaouse my body fat is too low below 3 percent. At 5 mins she talks about the perfect boiled egg in 7 mins after the water has boiled. I guess she meant to say to turn off the heat first , otherwise after 7of constant boiling it will be hard.Another method which I use for boiled eggs is put into cold water then turn off immediately after it has reached boiling point ,leave in water for 30-60 seconds then serve. 🤩

Thanks for sharing this, really insightful. I love the hacks. Any advice on the effecrs of eating all foods at the same time? For example, I would cut a piece of meat/fish, add a piece of broccoli to the fork, and include a couple of fusilli pieces on it as well (dipped in a gravy sauce) and enjoy the mix while i chew. How does my body react to the food intake? Will it still be able to sort & line my intestines with the fibre from the veg and slow down the glucose intake from the carbs? Genuinely curious, i don't mind changing my eatibg style but if it wont make a difference, I'll be a very happy person! Thanks again.

The way I understand it is: if you can eat veggies first, then that's what will be first to go into the digestive tract and form that meshy barrier for the starches that might be coming next. It will help the intestines not absorb the sugars so quickly and also not as much. Then I believe she said in this podcast or another that you can basically eat a mixture after that if you want, or do protein and fats, then starches. But I love mixing my food too in most bites. So my thought is to do cooked or raw veggies first, and then enjoy the rest of my meal how I want to. I love her simple and scientifically based tips. So practical and approachable. She was wonderful in the interview on the podcast The Diary of A CEO.

Hi@@carterjunction7158 I hadn't thought of cooking a small side dish of veggies - eat that first, then mix my main meal after. I get a double helping of healthy foods + I get to eat the meal how I want. A super helpful great tip! Thanks.❤. I agree with you, Gluten Godess is the revelation of the century. Very easy & practical steps, helps with planning diets, and takes care of your overall health. This should be taught in schools! I'm definitely buying her latest book. I need to learn about all her hacks.

It does. the entire glycemic index is based on eating that thing by itself, it's been shown when you add fiber, protein, or fat to something like white rice, it lowers the glycemic index, sometimes significantly. im sure theres a bit more benefit to eating veggies first, same with eating slower, but as long as you aren't eating the starches by themselves it's fine.

There are still some strange people in this world. I told my doctor I only eat one meal a day and she nearly had a fit. "Oh, no. You have to have breakfast lunch and dinner, three meals a day." When I told her I never had, she was so shocked but soon got over it, I'm seventy-one.

I really appreciate the simplicity and common sense approach to health. There’s been so much confusion generated in the food industry. Just doing these easy hacks is an easy way for most people to regain health.
For myself, I avoid seed oils, alcohol, most grains and sugar. I feel gross and bloated when I consume these things.
I do use raw honey occasionally , monk fruit sometimes and stevia sometimes.
Thank you for interviewing Jessica. 💚
