Dry Ice Cleaning My 1900 Mile Beater Evo 8

- Some of you will call me ridiculous, but I want my beater to be dry ice cleaned too. I honestly thought this car wouldn't need dry ice, but the car was unfortunately undercoated by the dealer with some sticky black goop which made working on the car extremely annoying. Scott took care of the car and cleaned it using the ICS EVO 030 (Evo 2). He also painted the wheel wells to body color for a cleaner look.

So cool the lead singer for the wiggles makes this much money. Much respect
Thats come up lovely, looks 1000 times better now.
I like the clean suspension bits, but I would have left the black undercoat on the floor pans.
All of it had to go.
the cleanest EVO around! The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be!
I dont know ive still got a soft spot for a Evo 6 RS years ago here in the UK that was concours condition.
Matty in a Tyvek suit is priceless.
a dry ice machine is my dream tool like the Snap on tool box was yours.
Protectiveness maybe a 10-20% decrease at most, appearance 100% increase. It's just what's worth it to you.
Black goop looked good. Now the Evo looks like a Corolla from underneath.
Preference, opinion, choice, all I know, you can now work on the car without looking like you're a coal miner! And spend twice the time cleaning every tool. If that stuff was so great, why don't you see it under RVs, big trucks, and ANY trailers? NONE There's a reason.
That black goop is one of the worst things you can have under your car.
That Kaiser setup is nice
Perfection
Nice!!!!
More!!
Sound like Scott might be making his own ice, sounds like it towards the end of the video ....
Yes, the DryceLab has a full pelletizer, we can make ice on demand.
@@R20Motorsports I work for Robert Mondavi on the side when things are slow at work I sandblast barrels for promotional use what’s interesting is how sandblasting techniques are closely related to this, lotta key factors since I’m sandblasting wood obviously the material how long I do it my distance and even the humidity, as long as I keep the gun moving in a circle the wood comes out awesome.
@@timbrown9731 Yes, technically Dry Ice is another form of media. The big difference is with solid media you change the type of media to change the abrasiveness or speed of your blasting. With a proper Dry Ice Cleaning machine, we can change these settings on the fly and the machine cuts down the media to suit the job. We’ve found with wood, if its very porous, the results aren’t great, but a tight grain hard wood can be cleaned with ice. Best part is you don’t have any media clean up after the job, only what you took off the part.
Damn this thing is rough aye thank god it's the daily 😅
It's the beater for sure.
I just can't comprehend why you would want to remove a very effective protective coating, just because "it feels sticky". Mind blown.
I bet you use hair gel
Very effective? Effective at what? Allowing the car to rust from the inside out.
@@ObsessedGarage oh, I didn't realise the car has all rusted from the inside out, sorry.
The car is almost 20 years old and shows zero rust? Did the coating work or not?
@@ObsessedGarage
I wonder how the exhaust will sound now the coating is gone that helps with rust and also sound deadening 😅
Can’t wait for the giveaway
Was Mike getting practice in for his GT3??😁
Wow, Matt is officially Mr Iceman . Top OG
Top OG 💀
Murad form Toronto 🇨🇦👋👌🤘🏻
Did they do a full respray on the wheel wells?
Yes, we color matched the wheel wells to the car! Like the factory should have.
Can we get an update of the exhaust sound from inside the car now that you have removed your rust and sound deadener coating 😅
Really wanted to see half of the car done with ics and the other half with pcs60
Great result….wonder what typical costs for this work would be. 👍
My guess is 3-4k
@@MikeyFFA500think thats spot on
This job would have been about $3K or so.
@@R20MotorsportsPlus the additional cost to paint the wheel wells.
About $250/hr
I am looking more towards the GreenICE Technologies system.
I actually thought the yellow stuff was what was removed in the previous pictures I'd seen beforehand.
The yellow material is the actual underbody coating from the factory.
So what size compressor can be used with this machine? Since no 3 phase is needed?
You really want 20hp+ to get full benefit.
For full range use, after going through a (20%) power robbing desiccant dryer, 145 psi and 65 cfm.
Call me crazy but it looked better before
floorpan portion yeah, but everything else is way better imo
Crazy
Definitely crazy
Call me crazy but I look better after 15 years of stuffed crust pizza and beer
This was more about getting rid of the sticky. Undercoating always looks good when new, but if you want to work on the car it gets all over everything and over time attracts tons of dirt. Once we cleaned it, it means Matt and Mike can do all the mods and not come away covered in gunk.
Ahhh how I'd love to dry ice blast my evo 😢
Like and comment for the algorithm ❤
Obsessed undercarriage! looks great tho
Well that was a huge waste. I would coat the rear chassis legs with something. Possibly use some cavity wax since they rust from the inside
You haven't tried working on the car with that crap. Covers everything. And is this car ever going to be a daily? Ever seen a fully restored classic car of ANY kind where they spray black gunk over it? You think it's protecting your car. I can tell you it's NOT! The only type of coating that truly works involves a fully covered and hardened product that gets painted from new. Porsche, Mercedes, BMW style. They got it right. Mitsubishi cheaped out with crappy tar based afterthought products. Which actually create more issues than protect. Good riddance!
@@ScottAles Mitsubishi never undersaled the cars from the factory in Japan, it was down to the individual dealer when they received the cars to do them, as you can imagine most didn't bother or did a half assed attempt. Mine luckily didn't get done and was bare when i imported it from Japan, I've since applied a Bilt Hamber clear coating as I'm in the UK although the car rarely comes out in the wet.
@@Jamie-Evo Interesting. Ultimately, it's always about what the customer wants. In this case, Matt wanted it off! Nuff said.
@@ScottAlesScott what are your thoughts on clear wax based products that many German manufacturers used to use?
@KiranPatel-fk1pg for a daily driver in the most corrosive environments like Iowa, where I grew up, it's a good protectant. But it often turns yellow with time, then black. My personal conviction is to just keep the underside clean and all these products become mute. I simply don't care for anything that prevents me from making the car look new occasionally. The Kenworth truck I drove is a perfect example. 340k miles ( which is crazy low for a 1976) is sitting right now in the DryceLab. It NEVER had anything sprayed on it. My father bought it new! It had 1 repaint in 1988. It looks like it's 1 year old. It's because all 3 owners and now me again give a crap! You want to spray a car with gunk and then forget about cleaning it regularly? It's not going to end well.
Not one class 8 truck company EVER sprayed their rigs with anything! And they run over a 100k miles a year all over the country!
Looked better before. Call me crazy but this is a big waste of time on the car that nobody will ever notice except for you knowing that you did it.
These are some of the dumbest comments I’ve seen to date. Black tar all over anything is terrible, and should never been on anything.
