- The ETS intercooler wasn't fitting the Cusco brace for whatever reason, so today we're using racing shims in order to properly set up the car for the high-speed driving this car will be subjected to.

I was ETS site it’s says you must use stock couplers for Cusco Power Brace to fit.
Glad I could help! Only thing I recommend from watching this video is to bring the spark gap down to .025 or lower before you get tuned is all! Can't help with the other stuff since I never ran the cusco front brace because I always thought it looked dumb and i'm not a fan of the color LOL

Good call on keeping the factory coil plug cover. Depending on boost level and fuel you may want to bring the spark plug gap down to .019-.025 to avoid any spark blow out.

Sadly , the stock ecu doesn’t have fuel correction at wot. You may have to install a wideband 02 gauge either temporarily or permanently . Replacing one or more of the three gauges below the radio is the cleanest way .
agreed, bring the gap down to below .025 before you tune that thing!
My Evo 10 was making over 400whp and it was plenty quick. I just picked up a 2003 Evo 8 making 306whp and it's plenty for the car. It moves out for what it is. Super enjoyable! I've never personally been a big power guy but anything after 400-500whp range becomes annoying to drive.
They sent you the wrong IC
The Cusco version has notches on the upper sides to clear the brace without the shims
On the special racing shims are usually put a little duct tape around them… it’s good to see there’s some normally weight reduction but wait addition to balance the car…
When doing my suspension setup it was recommended the front sway bar stay stock. Not worth upgrading. Everything else you guys have is on point!
Awd. U want rear rotation so you stiffen the rear. By stiffening the front you negate the rear sway bar by a percentage.
A small dab of CA between the “racing shims” would have made installation a lot easier. What you really need is a lathe so you can make whatever size spacer (racing shim) you need.
I think the ETS intercooler is adjustable by the the bolts you basically use the there ETS short intercooler pipes and it should be good
FP green was the exact turbo I wanted back in like 2010. Iirc they were a good upgrade from stock turbo and it spools just as quick as oem.
Hey guys, plenty of tuners had told me to stick with the copper plugs, gap .018 - .020 and just replace every oil change. The copper plugs pull the heat out of the head where the iridiums don't. The iridium plugs are designed to last a long time, not necessarily for all out performance.
Are you on e85 though?

@@DJ_Driven yeah for sure but idk it’s been so long since I ran 93 I don’t remember but for sure I gap them at 0.18 even at .022 I would miss fire at higher rpms.

Get some Cams to go with the turbo. GSC S1 cams are perfect with FP Green. Its a street killer setup, very responsive and fast spool. They complement each other. Or you can get the S2 cam, they're race cam, it has a loppy/choppy idle. You'll sacrifice lower end power for top end. If you do want to upgrade into a bigger turbo later, you wont have to touch the cams ever.
S2 cams are the ones everyone getting these days
FP green is probably a bit laggy for their size though. Check Art Gennari turbos as well. Also, 8 are bit laggy anyway since no Mivec. How about a 2.4L stroker to get the low end torque or Mivec feel? Basically a 4G64 block. I have an 8 with 2.4L PTE 5858.

With the amount of miles you put on your cars and the ease of changing the plugs I would have gone with copper ngk plugs not iridium. Copper preforms better at the cost of durability but since it’s so easy to do these plugs it’s a no brainer.
Also I know you guys don’t come down to South Florida much but look up knaus berry farms for the best cinnamon rolls of life. There open up seasonal so next time you go to E3 customs pass by.
Now we just need the wind deflecting holes drilled in the rear bumper with the stainless steel plates
If that's a hideaway cop kit, they should have come with washers to run the wiring under the plate.

You should double check everything because you don’t need any shims to run the power brace yet especially six
You shouldn't need the shims at all. I have the ams intercooler that is bigger than that one and mine fit perfectly with the cusco brace and no shims needed.
If you want a OEM+ build you should consider the ARTEC Manifold where you can return factory heat shield + their carbon intake. Also suggest R35 coil packs + G25 550 on E85. 400 AWHP on a Mustang with a conservative Tune 😊

You not going to powder coat the braces the same colour as your brake calipers? Also, the end tanks on that FMIC look hideous, I would've gone cast end tanks like the Plazmaman. OCD is killing me on this build!

I’d advise against the fp green. I ran it on my evo and the torque comes on hard no matter what. Tq kills stock bottom ends and you wanna keep it under 400tq. The spool is instant on that turbo though. Just be wary it’s gonna be very torquey and the bottom end won’t like it

also if that's a 6 speed those knobs are for 5 speed.
They are 6-speed shift knobs.
The 9 has a brushed metal shift knob for the 6 speed. The 8's are leather like pictured for the 6 speed.

This so called beater platform is way more capable than you think. I remember AdamLZ talking about his white evo with the crazy suspension from rob and he said its way faster/capable than his gt3rs or 992.2 one of the two.
Take off the brace with "racing" shims, fitment not up to par to OG spec
Being such a low mile car i would personally get the engine forged before going for any kind of power increase. The last thing you would want is any type of engine failure. Yes they are ok on standard internals up to 400/400 but why run it on the limit, it would give total piece of mind once forged and then you aren't limited to that power and torque.
Definitely would leave the engine stock. With a good tuner behind the keyboard he can bring the boost in softly and keep the rods happy.
Moving the goal posts on your team means they likely never get to your visions. I get the pace setting, but that’s a hard ask.

Am new to this channel, the EVO content piqued my curiosity. Sure you have heard this comment but have very mixed feeling about what you are doing to this rare car.
This is a cheap car that sucks stuck. Why in the world would I not modify it. That is the only reason to own one.
If he wants he can always swap all the stuff back. Evos were made to be modded. I’ve done things to all the ones I’ve owned over the years

What's the deal with that ETS FMIC ...did ETS send you the wrong IC or is the fitment always that bad? If it's designed to fit the Cusco brace someone needs to redesign the fabrication jig as it's a little off 📏
I bought a 9 with the brace and aftermarket intercooler. I’m about to go see if it has race shims. Lolol
