A fantastic video, and it’s great to see your enjoyment! In the future, if you get the chance, try connecting via an all-digital setup. You would only need a simple USB interface with a high-quality AES3 digital output, like the Mutec MC-3+ USB, to enjoy sound with a higher signal-to-noise ratio, greater dynamics, and lower distortion.
Love the setup Matt! I have a pair of LYD 5's on Aperta stands. Regarding your comment on not having options for eq on a computer, I found a solution. There is an app called Boom for PC which works night and day for desk speakers. My LYD's without them, sounded pretty bad with low volume output. As soon as I enabled the Boom EQ, they opened up tremendously! There is many preset options as well as custom options with customization across all bands of the eq spectrum! Just wanted to put this out just in case someone had the same issue as me with the LYD's or any other desk speaker.
If you wanted to go more crazy, since you’re a Sennheiser dealer, you could go with the HDV820 instead of the Schiit. It’s a headphone amp but it should work with this setup.
The ideal way to connect these is to daisy chain them with the AES in and out connections. Then set the 5’s to high pass mode and the sub to low pass. An RME ADI-2 Pro or DAC FS would be a great interface for this setup since it has a digital out and lots of EQ options. You’re not really losing sound quality with the extra DA/AD conversion in your current setup, but it doesn’t add anything either. The Dynaudios always go through their internal DA converters (and AD if you use the analog in) so you may as well go digital in if you can. The only thing I’d avoid is that Y adapter on one channel you used to feed the sub. It’s probably creating a channel imbalance since a Y cable doesn’t buffer the outputs. It’s also a little weird to feed the sub with one channel vs both and let it sum them, but virtually all modern music will be mono below 80Hz so it’s probably not a big deal in practice. The Y cable probably sounds OK. It’s just not how you’d set these up in a studio or for critical listening.
Absolute dream setup!! Would the Dynaudio subwoofer 9S work okay with the core 5's ?? also does the volume controller have a headphone input?? Enjoy that amazing Dynaudio magic !!
@@ObsessedGarage Great info - yeah was considering the 9S as a temporary solution until but great tip on the SVS micro 3000 - going to look into that! thanks again + enjoy the magic of the Dynaudio hi-res music + games! :)
That's a good looking setup! I currently have a pair of ELAC Navis ARB-51 and a pair Jamo SUB 800 per side and they sounds pretty amazing. A bit big for a desktop but still amazing.
Matt, check out the SVALT Cooling Dock for your MacBook. It’s right up your alley as an overbuilt device. It has heatsink fins meant to dissipate heat from a stressed laptop. I don’t know if it’s worth the price, but at least it looks cool.
I'm 15, a child of 4 and we have recently moved down to Florida in St. Augustine. Being not too far from Lady Lake made me think of the question "would you do in person tours of the shop?" maybe include it with something apart of Inside The Hex? We used to live in Georgia and thinking back on it, I wished I messaged you about just driving by Destination OG because my parents went to Helen quite often with my grandparents. I may introduce this setup to my Dad, he is a sucker for some nice speakers and a clean car!
To each their own, but I am a much bigger fan of a nice pair of open back headphones. Some nice Sennheisers for example. Saves a lot of money, sounds great, and doesnt bother anyone else in the house. Open back is key because it doesnt feel claustrophobic and you can still hear stuff around you.
I have the poor guy's version. 100 watt amp, yamaha monitors and a 10 inch yamaha sub. It's so overkill but it sounds so good. I'm working on a set of acoustic guitars that I'm going to repurpose to speakers using dayton audio drivers for acoustic listening.
To reduce the hiss don't have the monitor gain on full. It's not necessary. I just have the Kali IN-5's, no audible hiss unless your ear is 3 inches from the tweeter.
Could you test the difference between the desktop app and the web player? I wonder if the sound difference is the same as mine. The Web player sounds better to me. More mids and highs
How about an SVS Micro sub, it's like 11x12x11 size wise - about the same as a 9S....may be a little more SPL capable, plus DSP. I keep thinking of doing the same thing...but I'll build up a Schiit stack, a couple of speakers, subwoofer....look at the price, shake my head at myself and shelve the project for a few months until I repeat it.
Matt would you be willing to add the Kranzle purchase options to count towards entries to the giveaway? I have plans to buy a handful of things on the site and would like at least one of the significant items to count towards entries. Thanks.
You should try something like Tidal for high res audio. Listening to something of this quality like this with spotify is like using a GT3RS as a solely golf cart.
Crazy and weird. That's the OG way! I'm here for it Matt. That's a sick desk setup! I like the amount of DSP options on the amp.
Hey Michael, what's your honest opinion of the Dynaudio products you've reviewed in the past? Do you have any vids posted to your channel?

I like the white over the black. It blends in better in the room.
Yeah…LYD looks better, but Core sound is in a different universe.
Just picked up a pair of Buchardt's P300, excited to test them in my own room. Enjoy your speakers!
Absolute dream setup!! Would the Dynaudio subwoofer 9S work okay with the core 5's ?? also does the volume controller have a headphone input??

I'd rather have an SVS Micro 3000. The 9S is a little lean. Yes, the Jotunheim has a headphone jack.

Matt, the cables hanging down between your two monitors would drive me crazy. I have a setup similar to yours.

Fyi, you can use the Bluesound Node with your PC if you have optical out. That is what I have done.
When is the APG build coming Matt? great video
I going out to visit them at the end of the month. It will be next year.

I tried that path. I just never found myself putting them on.
You should buy Roon for your music. Nothing else compares.
Room is really just a high res aggregation service. I don’t think I need that.
@@ObsessedGarage you can tweak the audio and make sound profiles based on each speaker/ headphones. Plus many other features.

Great setup Matt - do you have a video reviewing how you determined the proper locations for your acoustic treatments?
I did one back in the home theater videos at the Woodgate house. This room is just a bunch of treatment stuck on the walls.
You might be able to go AES out from monitor to Sub AES input
To reduce the hiss don't have the monitor gain on full. It's not necessary. I just have the Kali IN-5's, no audible hiss unless your ear is 3 inches from the tweeter.
Fantastic video! What is the laptop stand/holder you have?
Rain Design M-Tower
Matt, could you share some of your Spotify-playlists with good demo music?
You definitely need a 49" ultrawide to make that setup perfect.
I have the Samsung 240hz oled and love it but there are definitley drawbacks. One nice thing is it was just on sale for like 850 though
Blast some Tool/APC/Puscifer on those bad boys! Don't tempt me away from my Lyd 7's!!!!
Your going to need two of those woofers

Which OWC dock/hub are you using? I know that if you're using it, it's not crap, and won't give me a hassle.

Random question, but what is the keyboard / mouse pad on your office setup? I need a new one and looking for a recommendation.

Matt is the mini slipt part of the garage giveaway?
It could be, but that will eat up a bunch of your budget.
do you get any speaker buzz when your computer goes to sleep or turns off but you havent phsyically switched off your monitor speakers?
Yes, it's all the time.
What desk mat is that
And here I thought my Klipsch The Sevens were overkill for my desktop setup.
Matt would you be willing to add the Kranzle purchase options to count towards entries to the giveaway? I have plans to buy a handful of things on the site and would like at least one of the significant items to count towards entries. Thanks.
No, we have to sell things we don't normally sell. Also Kranzles don't have the margin to make the math work.
You might be getting a hiss because you are running your XLR cable alongside your AC power cable.
Easy way to find out.
No, that's not it.
am i the only one here only interested watching on that bronco entire video and listen Matt's rambling Ha, ha...
Some extra heavy breathing on this video. You can tell Matt's excited.
Post a video pulling the gt3rs in side ways
Sooooo...is the sub 9 s for sale now and the LYD5's? (though I wanted them in black) lol
Ha, ha… everything is always for sale, but I’m planning to take them to Middleton house.
What is the Stand for the Monitors?
It’s from Yellowtec.
I like it
Has Matt done anything on chairs?
I've had a bunch of them. My current favorite is Gesture from Steelcase.
Mostly sitting I think
Get some Soundrise Pro-9 stands, the monitors are way too low. Tweeter should be somewhere near the ear level
From where I'm sitting, the tweeter is exactly at ear level.
Why not use the digital connection with this kind of equipment?
Mac doesn't have an optical out and DACs don't have optical in.
@@ObsessedGarage I was too fast, I thought you were going to use the dynaudio with the bluesound node
