You should move the sub dead center. No more localization issues, and you get a footrest! I would also treat the spot right above you, with non-omni polar speakers the first reflection points are where you typically treat.
Thank you for sharing the setup Matt! It looks fantastic and so functional. You mentioned small cans above the desk but if you want better lighting on your face for zoom meetings I would consider wall sconces.. much better lighting placed at the correct height. It looks like there is an appropriate amount of space in between the acoustic treatments to place two behind your monitor setup. Just something to consider! Also, love the pen stuff let’s go!!!
3800$ for a chair is something I could never pay, only because I’m not at a desk every day. For a man like Matt, or many others, I’m sure that price is nothing compared to the way the chair feels. Like a good pair of shoes. Probably worth it. Matt seems to show us the best of the best. Price reflects quality. Man knows what’s good. 👍🏻
I bought a used Herman miller once offices started closing during Covid. It was truly the best investment for working from home. I feel like a good mattress and a good office chair make a huge difference.
Guys… this it the topper… 2025… Probably all downhill from here. How will OG top this one?! You get chair content, desk content, wire management content, and my personal favorite… filing cabinet content. The RUclips algorithm is recommending this video to everyone right now for sure!
Do you feel the Bluesound Node Icon adds much over just running your audio app such as Tidal with a "standard" external DAC -> XLR -> monitors? I have an external DAC with headphones and XLR outputs. Looking at the Bluesound though..
Probably not, but I think having Dirac when they release it, and if I can get them to clean up the software on how it functions through USB-C, we will have the perfect solution.
13:35 - I have a web cam recommendation I think deserves some serious consideration, but I'm waiting until the next podcast to pitch it. I've been waiting 3 weeks or so to catch you live, and I hope it works out today. Got that butter bell yet? ;)
The podcast is over, and I got to recommend the iContact Camera Pro. I think it is high quality enough, and places the camera in the center of the monitor screen. I know I'll be getting one soon.
Would love to see you do a more budget friendly design, say like 1000$ all in for speakers, desk, chair, monitor, hub, wire tidy system, etc. My setup is a huge Amazon L desk for 150$, 70$ Amazon basics office chair, dual 34 inch ultra wides (300$ each from Costco), old pair of dell speakers/subwoofer, anker hub (80$), and my MacBook Pro / wireless touch pad and keyboard to power it all. Obviously not up to Matt OG spec, but I’m in college
Hey Matt just so you know you can use the screen sharing function found in the other folder to remote into your MacBook Pro. I am doing a similar setup with a Mac mini at my desk and my MacBook Pro as my run about computer and found this to be a great solution to pull up the MacBook or mini on whichever computer I am using.
I love the clean look , mature and elevated taste. Most gear selected are great choices.. BUT!!!!! "Ultimate Desk Set up" and Apple Magic mouse just dont go together. Im not sure how big your hands are, but starting from the size, comfort, charging and functionality the apple mouse its just not at the level of something like the MX Master 3.. just to give an example.
Man,. I love the chair, about to pull the trigger on the Herman Miller embody Logitech chair... but this wow. do you have a link to the product or the exact model name, please? Had a look on their site and cant seem to find it.. I spend 10+ hours a day in a chair as I work from home and this would be perfect.
@ thanks for the reply. For some reason you made both of them look small with your big hands. I always thought the weight of the pro max was too much for webcam use but I guess not. Thanks for the message.
to simplify your Bluesound issues, I would look at using something like the Node Nano connected to a Schiit Saga 2. 1) cheaper 2) simpler at that point you would be using the Nano as your DAC/Streamer and the Saga 2 as the preamp though, I would lean towards using a Saga 2 with a Schiit Modius as the DAC and use the Mac as the Streamer. all in all, as long as you are happy with your setup that is all that matters
Your keyboard reasoning I understand, but you won't look back after getting used to a mouse that improves your workflow. I recently did a deep dive in office videos before setting mine up, and by far my favorite productivity upgrade was my mouse.
Damn the apple ecosystem is expensive. He could've probably gotten an insane pc itx mobo small form factor setup for those prices if you were looking for a smaller sized footprint on the desk. But I get that people just wanna stick to one exosystem. Money doesn't seem to be an issue with Matt though, good for you man! High quality stuff
If you want to go next level with the web cam, Canon offers a free/paid utility that will turn any EOS camera into a webcam, now you can have a huge sensor, crazy good bokeh/depth of field, etc. You could probably even put it on an articulated arm to move in front of the monitor as needed. I've been running an older camera with a wide angle lens at f1.2 for years - hard to beat.
Matt, maybe you should do an office giveaway like the garage giveaways. That chair looks awesome.
You should move the sub dead center. No more localization issues, and you get a footrest! I would also treat the spot right above you, with non-omni polar speakers the first reflection points are where you typically treat.
Great tip on the iPhone as the webcam
As I said in the previous desk video, absolutely loving the attention to detail. If only we could have more people like this.
To fix the issue with not being able to control volume on the DAC try using a software called Soundsource! 🙌

That's a good idea.

For pens , you might want to have a look at zebra F-701 , the knurling gets smoother after a while and it's pretty good for the pricepoint
Those Belkin phone mounts are neat. I haven't seen them before and will get some!
What's most important... where can I buy the "IN THE GARAGE I FEEL SAFE" sign?
Aesthetically I feel this setup is not the usual Matt standard
Hey Buddy, can you put the sub centered behind you? Love the desk and cabinet!!!
You can put a sub in most places, but depending on the room, you may end up in a dead spot.

He didn’t nail this. He should’ve done his homework.
Show me a better set-up. I've never seen one.
@@ObsessedGaragebro you can get a better set up from staples

Matt, check out the Rotring 600 for the best pencil. I like it more than the Toga.
I got one of those too. It didn't make the cut for me.
I love these $119.99 office depot desks.
Didn’t you comment the same thing 2 days ago on his previous setup video. How lame
What is the desk pad on the right side return on the desk ?
leather Nekmit from Amazon
Opinion on PSB P5 and Powernode vs AM5 and Icon?
P5 Powernode will sound much better due to better amp.
Off topic but will my High Pressure Hose with MTM Couplers work with the OG spec Mosmatic Swiveling Sprayer?
It works, but not as well as having matched coupler/plug.
Is the clock on the Icon always on or can that be turned off?
It can be turned off.
Always need more bass, call it balance if it helps bro 😊 ❤
Ha, ha...
hey matt off subject question what backpack would you get for everyday use and could also use to take away for a night as i work away often
I use a Peak Design, but I carry a camera often.
This is the content I subscribe for! I'm considering getting some desktop speakers instead of using my HD800S--this video might push me over the edge.
Matt will be punting this whole setup when he moves in 6 months
No, it is very similar to my last set-up. Most would carry over.
Happy New Year Matt 🎉. Amazing setup you have there. Would love to see an update vid on your corporate headquarters progress ✌️
Thunderbolt ... or USB-C ....lol - exactly what we all think
Obsessed question:
Where do you buy your rugs?

What chair is that? Where could I purchase,
Did you even listen to the video?

@@ObsessedGarage Thank you. stay awesome.
That is a very subpar desk
Nope
Amazing set up. Can you confirm are they 16 pro max or regular 16 for both your personal and cam phone.
Thanks.
Personal is 16 Pro Max. The webcam is 15 Pro Max.
@ thanks for the reply. For some reason you made both of them look small with your big hands. I always thought the weight of the pro max was too much for webcam use but I guess not. Thanks for the message.
Any chance you could make a video on how you setup your Mac? I’m new to the Mac world and would love to see how you do it.
I just love your lifestyle 😍
What about iPhone cases? What’s the OG spec?
I always end up with Apple leather or silicone.
What is brand and model of chair?

What in gods name do you need a $400 pair of scissors for????
Ha, ha... Yeah, they are pretty nuts. They are made for cutting Kevlar fabric.
@@ObsessedGarage I get it. For those time that you sit at your desk and cut out kevlar snowflakes and gingerbread men....

For control on ur audio , look into MIDI and merge ur output and ur speakers so u can control the volume and more
This setup is digital to those sweet audio speakers. Isn't MIDI digital to digital (virtual)? Using all matching MIDI connections?

I've been down that path. It's just too complicated and difficult to use.
youll prob use this desk 4 times till you move then have a new setup
Is that supposed to be an insult?
There should be a software update for Airplay2 coming for the Node Icon, that should give you a better experience for volume control
The problem with Airplay is that its resolution limited.
I'm confident that Matt has researched the piss out of everything he buys.
they make a flat mechanical keyboard.
Have had the best luck with Herman Miller chairs
Yep! I have their Cosm chair and it's been great! I've had leather chairs before and they get flat after a while and start hurting.

Matt is the kind of guy that sets expensive dream desk to do garage office 🤔
"... the kind of guy" comment? Just don't.
