The Daimyo nerf and the introduction of a one-shot semi-auto shotgun for NSO has exposed a weird mechanic that I think should be changed. During the refire cooldown of a semi-auto weapon, you aren't allowed to use your ability, sprint, or switch weapons. Weirdly enough, real manual action weapons like the Bruiser or SAS-R can sprint or swap weapons while rechambering. The HSG and Daimyo just feel clunky as hell now
Here's my question, do they have to do this to Darkstar? Darkstar is harder to take the passive reload from because the whole intended playstyle involves swapping to medtool, if you didn't reload during that swap it'd be a lot less useful
I think not. Darkstar isn't really good weapon outside of shoot-medtool-shoot cycle. If you find yourself shooting more than reviving, you do much better with pulsar that darkstar was based on.
I see no point in using the Daimyo now over the conventional CQC bolts. Its rof is only marginally better than the cqc bolts, but the recoil of the thing makes that marginally better rof absolutely pointless.
Can't really get myself to dislike it being able to reload itself without being held. I mean.. Your phone doesn't stop charging just because you let go of it after you plugged it in after all. I find it to make perfect sense for a heat weapon
Its lack of reloading makes it op against all other lmgs. Plus near pinpoint hipfire, almost no recoil or spread. Its a god gun. It needs an actual downside

Man, I been jonesing for those API releases. I can interpret all on my own now, and I can quantify things roughly in-game without seeing the numbers (which is awesome for a lot of reasons), but your commentary therefrom and others' is important to me and always much-anticipated. Def be patient: your in-depth objective analysis is worth the wait for sure, and what makes your channel and others' so worth while. That and those witty one-liners ;) And the SABR needed that buff IMO also. Paying an extra 350 certs for a Gauss Burst always kinda stung. Moreover for it's given role, realistically it's the only comparable weapon to ones like Reaper, DMR, etc. So I welcome it personally, and I think it fits.
To make the heat mechanic make more sense mechanically you could use the switch fire button to trigger the cool down of the weapon instead of it happening automatically. If you're good with rhythm this should be easy but it will prevent it from cooling off while you die unless you are really sensitive to that button and can predict. It will also reduce its effectiveness of being able to cool off while not in your hands because you'll have to stop firing, activate the cooling sequence and then switch weapons. Which would slow your effective weapon swap. There's one caviat which is that it may as well be reloading. But in this case the reload time can be consistently based off of the amount of bullets spent as opposed to having set reload times based on arbitrary values. The second advantage is being able to ADS while cooling down which is preserved from its former ability.
In fact, a very sensible thought - here you are shooting, but to cool the weapon, you need, for example, open the valve (mode switch) - and while the weapon is cooling - you cannot shoot. This would equalize the advantage with infinite ammo. And it would also solve the endless offensive issue where you can run forward without worrying about reloading or overheating due to short skirmishes.
The damyo was overnerfed. There is no real reason to use it now. Take the tsar for example, 1s chamber time, techicaly the damyo can refire in 0.66s, however the massive recoil means you actualy need to wait and re center your crosshair everytime you fire, meaning the actual refire rate feels much slower, maybe even slower then 1s. Also, you cant cloak again after firing untill the weapon resets, a MASSIVE, disavantage. And if that wasnt enough, the weapon still comes whith 3 bullets, that you will now find you rarely have an oportunity to spam. In fact i stoped using extended mag as it just isnt worth it now, you very rarely will find the situation where you can spam the 4 shots, and even if you find that situation, the tsar will still fire those 4 shots prob faster whith more accuracy and have another one in the mag. The weapon is dead. Only using it to finish the auraxium and never touching it again. Its worse then all the other cqc bolt sniper rifles in 99% of situations.
@@Calvictus360 the point of the change? The BG is the only truly contentious weapon. The other heat weapons, excluding the Phaseshift and Carbine, occupy a pretty small niche. Those ones don't usually draw ire.
@@Calvictus360 Right..? All rocket launchers do the same "thing", but they aren't the same item. The issue here isn't the heat mechanic, it's the balance on that one gun. Each gun has a separate set of statistics so balance changes on each will be bespoke. The Carbine and AR heat weapons aren't hugely prevalent, so they don't get much attention. The BG gets a huge amount of use, so the devs pay attention to it. They have no reason to change the other weapons at this time. When they do change them, I hope they buff all underused directive weapons while also giving them better gimmicks for the TR/NC versions EDIT: Also worth noting, as Cami stated, this isn't exactly a nerf the way it is. The long reload went from about 7.8s down to less than 4 with this change. Makes overheat much less harmful to the user
What bothers me the most with the Betelgeuse is its inherent unlimited ammo trait. I get it, it uses a cool-down "reload" mechanic, but why does it never run out of ammo?
It's generally one or the other with PS2. Either you have finite ammo and a reload, or infinite ammo and heat. As a Battlegoose owner who used the Orion for a long time, I'll tell you that the bottomless ammo feature is the big draw for most users. Auto-reloading is nice, but the Orion has a pretty punishing ammo reserve considering it's fire rate. The Battlegoose gets around that. I think that removing the bottomless ammo would be too much of a nerf, pushing the Battlegoose into the realm of the mediocre directive weapons. That would be a negative for everyone. Directive weapons need more uniqueness, not really less. Most of them are pretty much awful, so whacking one of the 3-4 that have a real purpose wouldn't be great in my opinion
Not a bug, it’s statistically faster at this point. In saying that, it can’t cool down while holstered which is a nerf in some ways by comparison to beforehand. The faster reload is way too quick however.
The SABR was already a pretty viable weapon pre-buff, but it's now somewhat arguably the best AR the TR have access to. I'm almost sad I already auraxed it, but who needs a directive reward rifle when you have the SABR? Okay I'm exagerating a little, but really it's an accurate, controllable rifle that also kills fast, and they just made it more forgiving at longer range. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it, but I think it's borderline too good now.
It’s a fantastic rifle, the consistency over range is now more in line with something like the Vanquisher for the NC, so I think it’s a warranted buff myself.
@@CAMIKAZE78 Yeah I don't have a Vanquisher yet, so I'll have to hold off judgement there, but I was mainly thinking about it in comparison to the Corvus and Gauss Rifle Burst (which get closest to its damage model). Compared to the Corvus the SABR has better rate of fire, slightly better damage falloff, better aimed accuracy, and better recoil. Compared to the Gauss Burst (on paper, since I don't own that either yet) it drops one fewer damage tier and has better recoil. Maybe those other guns could just use a minor buff though, because I agree the SABR really did need that damage boost to fit into its long-range accurate role too.
@@makky-kat3719 Don't forget FWIW, the Burst is also 350 certs cheaper. I think it's a somewhat more contextual perspective to consider that it brings it up more in line with weapons like the DMR, A-Tros, etc. The NC at least have several options in the AR category to do this sort of job, TR have one, perhaps 2, and that's it.
Yeah I don't particularly care that the battle goose can cool down while you hold a different weapon, but it definitely shouldn't cool down while you're dead
the Betelgeuse should cool down while not equipped - however, not instantly i mean just because is not in hand does not mean it is still firing. so the 'regular' cooldown should apply
Logically, that does make sense, 100%. But from a game balance perspective, slightly different story. Maybe have it’s passive cool down reduced when holstered by a significant margin?
What if betelgeuse came with only 2-3 replacement mags where the user is only allowed to mess up the heat management limited times? It would force the player to manage their heat/ammo more consciously, and burnout their mag only when it's necessary.
The Betelgeise should just be made to cool down even slower. Removing the cool down when it's not equipped is a terrible idea both because it's unintuitive, and also because it's inconsistent with how all other heat mechanics work in the game.
It might just be lag. I find that even when my game is running at a solid framerate, sometimes serverside lag can still discreetly mess up my shots. The worst case example I ever had of this, is when I fired a rocket directly, point blank, at a Heavy assault's head, and it just passed right through him.
So betel gets buffed even though its Good as it was, while there are still objective weapons that just arent worth using (looking at you directive carbines) over the Standart issue. Nice. WHAT THE FUCK IS THE POINT!?
I won’t lie, I think the overall intent was to nerf it, as no longer being able to “reload” the weapon while it holstered and overheated (as I said in the video), but the new reload time is waaaay too snappy I will say.
Problem of Betelgeuse (and technically Lasher as well) is not its mechanics but that it doesn't have any equivalent in TR and NC arsenal...the way to fix this is to give TR and NC weapons that work similarly (like for example Belt Feeding weapons).
That's just dumb. VS doesn't have any equivalents to NC damage and doesn't have any equivalents to TR rate if fire. Why the hell should TR and NC get VS stuff while VS isn't allowed to go anywhere near their shit.
@@Cameron0214 Here is the thing VS has there own mechanic and implants with addition to no bullet drop which is already the VS specific mechanics for vast majority of their arsenal. While the TR and NC gets nada, other than one having more dakka and one have more boom and can shotgun their shotgun.
@@Cameron0214 It's not about needing an equivalence to the faction=specific trait, it's about there not being an equivalent weapon on tr or nc that fills that role. The vs has TWO weapons that fill roles not filled by any other faction. Specifically, the "100% uptime/get rezzed with a full mag" role and the "spam lasher shots through the door forever so nobody can do anything" role. Tr and nc just can't do those things, so situations that call for them are always heavily weighted towards the vs. And don't tell me you've never seen a fight stagnate because of lasher spam locking down every door, because I don't believe you.
"Imagine getting an update" - this was brought to you by the ps4 gang (and I play NC, I don't even get a buff/nerf, lmao) Honestly. I'm glad that bettlejuice got a nerf, because, let's be honest, in ps4 once it was unlock, all VS HA almost always use that thing, the problem is, it was nerfed on the wrong way. With that said, Cami, how dare you say Bettlejuice is easy to use? Prepare to get Planetside Cancel, by all VS HA tryhard with 9.0 K/D and med kit addiction

@@Wendingus bolt actions still can’t kill a heavy with full-shields, ability on, and nano weave with a shot to the head. Not even a Parsec (directive Vanu sniper) can do it. That’s a feels bad
@@wanderingaming5805 Firstly, nanoweave is not a factor, as nanoweave resistance does not apply to headshots. Secondly, I don't get why people use heavies as balance point for infiltrators, as even if HAs overperform, every other non-HA or Inf class has to suffer for it. As much as heavies have issues, I don't think client-side one-shotting semi invisible enemies with free ESP really add to the game in a positive way.
@@Wendingus There are many strong things in the game, Infils one shoting every class except heavy is one of them. The skill involved, the risk reward, all stack up to something balanced. Most classes have a very high TTK with headshots and are more versatile and ready to accomplish the needed task at hand. I will agree though that sometimes those infils are incredibly annoying. The nano-weave thing always throws me off because sometimes a heavy will power up their shield for the first time and still get one tapped, and other times they survive, always summed it up to nano but I guess they just left their shield up to long.
@@wanderingaming5805 The skill required to get headshots with bolters is overrated. You don't have to worry about recoil control or bullet drop except for the most extreme ranges, and players using automatic weapons also have to be able to get consistent headshots in order to be effective. As far as risk goes, bolters are almost zero risk. If you're using bolters as intended, your main threats are other snipers and vehicles. If you're CQ bolting, just stay around 20-30m, and if you flub your shot, just cloak and break contact, automatics typically won't be able to kill you in time. The only time its particularly risky is around 10m or less, and if you're caught out or miss at that range, just whip out your commish and two-tap them. We haven't even gotten into how strong recon dart spam and motion sensors are and how they take care of the gamesense aspect of ps2 for you. And all of this for 200 less HP, which can be effectively negated with NAC or Nanoweave.
Hey Camikaze i liked all your videos till this one was really not nice of you! And the reason for it is because You talked about the BattleGoose the entire video and the Daimyo... You totally didnt show much footage or anything about the TR SAB-13 gun play.. You really could have talked a lot more about the TR weapon it really feels great now and can compete close, medium, range.. but as always TR gets the HATE and no one cares right?
So Wrel ignored the majority of the community and buffed the one weapon that needed to be nerfed. My membership is cancelled, I'm not paying Wrel to buff his favorite faction while nerfing the two he plays against.
Lets just stop calling the Betelgeuse rework a nerf. It's a rework/buff and that's about it. Wrel would not dare anger his faction with an actual Vanu weapon nerf lmao.
Sooo Let me just say that unless you have been a CQC Bolter main for a year or two, you are not qualified to really judge the Daimyo. It did feel bad if you were not that good, and it was stupidly busted if you were somewhat decent. And its the pro CQC Bolters that we need to balance around. Also what the hell is this FoV?!?
VS are by far the easiest though, even compared to TR :P flying tanks with no recoil, infinite ammo and no reloads as a faction trait, sniper rifles with no bullet drop, hitbox-hack as a faction trait for a carbine, an lmg, an smg and even their max. and if you still can't aim, thre is lasher so you can just shoot the floor... there is a reason VS are winning nearly 40% of primetime alerts while TR and NC win only 28% each, and contrary to what VS scrubs say, it isn't "skillz".
@@RaptorJesus. on connery their are some times when VS get stomped hard and barely win alerts but thats mainly when theirs no cohesion or leadership for them at all alerts are much easier for a faction to win if they have at least a few squads or platoons that are watching the big picture and have at least medium cohesion.
on connery i find NC easier because there tends to be some cohesion. maybe i just like the weapon style of slow fire rate but hits like a truck. dont even consider playing TR on connery. every time i do they love to walk in front of me right as im throwing a c4 or they go attack that 1 base thats already at 90% overpop while im trying to defend a base with maybe 1 other person whereas theres like 20 tanks at the base.I hate playing TR because there is no cohesion
i stopped paying for the game because the vanoob LMGs especially the shittlejuice are OP dev faction death machines. So cryy vanoob and devs I aint payin hahahaha
Half the video is spent talking circles about the Daimyo and the other half is split 1 minute for the SABR and 4 minutes for the Betelgeuse. It feels like you are just trying to stretch out the videos to 10m instead of just letting it be *just* whatever length it needs to be. I can only wonder how good viewer retention is for you.

Okay I'm exagerating a little, but really it's an accurate, controllable rifle that also kills fast, and they just made it more forgiving at longer range. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it, but I think it's borderline too good now.
shhhh theyll hear you
It’s a fantastic rifle, the consistency over range is now more in line with something like the Vanquisher for the NC, so I think it’s a warranted buff myself.
Yeah at the very least, that needs to be addressed.
@@CAMIKAZE78 well shit, I'd have worded it more politely if I thought you were gonna read my comment 😅
Bro I keep on forgetting how smooth ur game is
Please help! Name of into music please. :)
i seriously want to know how he runs this game with good fps in high intense situations
Me a new person. Get 30 dayamoi kills in the 30 minute trial mission: End of 30 minutes 9 kills... good mission.
the Betelgeuse should cool down while not equipped - however, not instantly
i mean just because is not in hand does not mean it is still firing. so the 'regular' cooldown should apply
A player who’s played enough to unlock betelgeuse generally will very rarely overheat it in the first place
True that... maybe just 1 mag or none at all. If you overheat, no more primary.
Can I just stick that Auraxium camo on my Orion because it has much better stats and is way more effective.
The Orion and the Betelgeuse are identical as far as core stats are concerned, minus the ability to equip attachment options.
The Betelgeise should just be made to cool down even slower. Removing the cool down when it's not equipped is a terrible idea both because it's unintuitive, and also because it's inconsistent with how all other heat mechanics work in the game.
#BuffTheCharger
Agreed 👍
i shoot VS light assault with Daimyo in the head a couple days ago and he didn't die , how is that possible?
Its not possible. You must've not hit the head.
@@hurrdurr3615 but i hit...
It might just be lag.
I find that even when my game is running at a solid framerate, sometimes serverside lag can still discreetly mess up my shots.
The worst case example I ever had of this, is when I fired a rocket directly, point blank, at a Heavy assault's head, and it just passed right through him.
Goes to show Wrel's game balancing skill
object permanence is a thing btw
prinz eugen’s... never mind
@@TrazynTI no bullet drop is irrelevant in 99% of fights so… your points that still stand are listed as follows:
"Imagine getting an update" - this was brought to you by the ps4 gang (and I play NC, I don't even get a buff/nerf, lmao)
Honestly.
Man..I Love CAMS content! Always top notch. But man I hate that fish bowl view he uses for vids. The game doesn't play in that aspect for real "actually" or am I missing something🧐😉. Been my pet peev for years.. so I'm gettn it out my system. Lol 😁. Thanks for the content tho bro. We need ya😎
SABR 13 was the only reason I unlocked Battle Rifles for Engis with my ASP skills.

The Betelgeuse needs more spread that's how they can balance that
Not entirely accurate, the weapons are statistically identical with the exception of the heat mechanic and the relevant reloading properties
@@CAMIKAZE78 I suppose the lack of a forward grip option could be considered a stat difference maybe.
@@AviatorFox forward grip is cringe. Laser is always optimal

It’s just an Orion. Cope.
wrel is fucking incapable of seeing any fault in VS. Can't "nerf" something without making it better in some way. Wrelside2 and VSside 2
I love you vids but your extreme FOVS looks like cheating to me. How do you get this FOV?
Messing with the settings file
I still think the Daimyo nerf was a little over the top. Yes I have auraxed it many times over on about 4 characters. It was OP and needed adjustment, but the recoil AND ROF slow down was extreme.
Good. The game would be 10x healthier without snipers being as effective as they are right now.
Sooo
Let me just say that unless you have been a CQC Bolter main for a year or two, you are not qualified to really judge the Daimyo. It did feel bad if you were not that good, and it was stupidly busted if you were somewhat decent. And its the pro CQC Bolters that we need to balance around.
Also what the hell is this FoV?!?
Further proof the VS are broken and the devs are loving it
Play TR and VS = ez
Play NC = Hard
Good conclusion.
VS are by far the easiest though, even compared to TR :P
flying tanks with no recoil, infinite ammo and no reloads as a faction trait, sniper rifles with no bullet drop,
hitbox-hack as a faction trait for a carbine, an lmg, an smg and even their max.
and if you still can't aim, thre is lasher so you can just shoot the floor...
there is a reason VS are winning nearly 40% of primetime alerts while TR and NC win only 28% each,
and contrary to what VS scrubs say, it isn't "skillz".
@@versenova5531 just depends on who is running squads /platoons on TR at the time asti is usually very coordinated
i stopped paying for the game because the vanoob LMGs especially the shittlejuice are OP dev faction death machines.
Around 60-70% viewer retention. Personally, I was happy with everything that needed to be discussed. Keeping in mind I didn’t spend the whole first half of the video talking about the Daimyo, as time needs to be taken for the intro, the small pre-topic PSA about upcoming reviews. So it’s closer to 4mins on the Daimyo too.
